१९९८: फिलिपाइन्सच्या माजी अध्यक्षा कोरेझॉन अ‍ॅक्‍विनो यांना आंतरराष्ट्रीय सामंजस्यासाठीचा रॅमन मॅगसेसे पुरस्कार जाहीर.
२००१: मरणोत्तर त्वचादान करुन दुसर्‍यांना जीवनदान देणारी, भारतातील पहिली स्किन बँक मुंबई येथील लोकमान्य टिळक रुग्णालयात स्थापन झाली.
