सीमा हाटों पर भारत बांग्‍लादेश संयुक्‍त समिति की पहली बैठक अगरतला में हुई

• सीमा हाटों पर भारत-बांग्‍लादेश संयुक्‍त समिति की पहली बैठक 22 और 23 जुलाई, 2018 को त्रिपुरा की राजधानी अगरतला में हुई।
• बैठक में दोनों पक्षों ने सीमा हाटों के आसपास के इलाकों में रहने वाले लोगों की आजीविका पर हाटों के सकारात्‍मक प्रभाव को स्‍वीकार किया।
• इस अवसर पर चार सीमावर्ती हाटों के संचालन और उनके कामकाज में सुधार के उपायों की समीक्षा की गई। साथ ही छह नये सीमा हाट बनाए जाने के लिए एक निश्चित समय तय किये जाने पर भी चर्चा हुई। भविष्‍य में सीमा हाटों के विस्‍तार पर भी दोनों पक्षों ने बातचीत की। यह तय किया गया कि संयुक्‍त समिति की अगली बैठक दोनों की सहमति से तय की गई तारीख पर बांग्‍लादेश में होगी।

          सीमा हाट क्या है

• सीमा हाट बांग्लादेश और भारत के बीच एक सीमा व्यापार बाजार है, और यह बाजार हर सप्ताह एक दिन दोनों देशों द्वारा आयोजित होता है।

• सीमा हाटों के संबंध में भारत और बांग्‍लादेश के बीच एक आम सहमति पत्र पर 08 अप्रैल, 2018 को हस्‍ताक्षर किए गए थे। इसमें सीमा हाटों के कामकाज की समीक्षा करने तथा उनमें सुधार के लिए सुझाव और नये सीमा हाटों के लिए नए स्‍थान प्रस्‍तावित करने का प्रावधान किया गया है।

 सरकार ने मॉब लिंचिंग को नियंत्रित करने के लिए केंद्रीय गृह सचिव की अध्यक्षता में एक उच्च स्तरीय समिति का गठन किया

• देशभर के कुछ हिस्सों में भीड़ द्वारा हिंसा करने की घटनाएं लगातार बढ़ रही हैं और इसीलिए सरकार कानून का शासन बनाए रखने के लिए ऐसी घटनाओं को रोकने के लिए प्रभावी कदम उठा रही है।
• इन स्थितियों से निपटने के लिए सरकार ने केन्द्रीय गृह सचिव की अध्यक्षता में एक उच्च स्तरीय समिति का गठन किया है, जो इन मामलों पर विचार करेगी और अनुशंसाएं देंगी।
• न्याय विभाग, कानूनी मामलों के विभाग, विधायी विभाग और सामाजिक न्याय और अधिकारिता विभाग के सचिव, इस समिति के सदस्य बनाए गए है।
• समिति चार सप्ताह में अपनी अनुशंसाएं सरकार के समक्ष रखेगी।

• संविधान के अनुसार पुलिस और कानून व्यवस्था राज्य के विषय हैं। अपराध को नियंत्रित करने, कानून-व्यवस्था को बनाए रखने तथा नागरिकों के जीवन और संपत्ति की रक्षा करने के लिए राज्य सरकारें जिम्मेदार हैं।
• अपराध की रोकथाम करने के लिए कानून बनाने तथा उन्हें लागू करने का अधिकार राज्य सरकारों के पास है।

 रवांडा और भारत के बीच कई अहम समझौतों पर हस्ताक्षर

• प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी तीन अफ्रीकी देशों के दौरे के तहत 23 जुलाई को रवांडा पहुंचे।
• प्रधानमंत्री मोदी इस पूर्वी अफ्रीकी देश का दौरा करने वाले पहले भारतीय प्रधानमंत्री बन गए हैं।
• रवांडा के राष्ट्रपति पॉल कागाम और प्रधानमंत्री मोदी के साथ द्विपक्षीय बैठक के दौरान दोनों देशों के बीच आठ अहम समझौतों पर हस्ताक्षर किए गए।
• दोनों देशों ने रक्षा, व्‍यापार, कृषि, चमड़ा और संबंधित उत्‍पादों तथा डेरी क्षेत्रों में समझौतों पर हस्‍ताक्षर किए।
• भारत ने रुवांडा को 20 करोड़ डॉलर की ऋण सुविधा देने का फैसला किया है।
• रवांडा के बाद मोदी 24 जुलाई को युगांडा पहुंचे, यहाँ भारत के प्रधानमंत्री ने पहली बार युगांडा की संसद को संबोधित किया।
• युगांडा से वह जोहानिसबर्ग में 10वें ब्रिक्स शिखर सम्मेलन में हिस्सा लेने पहुंचेंगे।

फंसे हुए ऋणों की समस्या को तेजी से हल करने के लिए बैकों और वित्तीय संस्थानों के बीच समझौता

• बैंकों और वित्तीय संस्थानों ने 23 जुलाई 2018 को इंटरक्रेडिटर समझौते (inter-creditor agreement) पर हस्ताक्षर किए।
• 17 सार्वजनिक क्षेत्र के बैंक, पांच निजी क्षेत्र के बैंक और दो अन्य वित्तीय संस्थानों ने समझौते पर हस्ताक्षर किए हैं।
• इस समझौते का उद्देश्य खराब ऋण के समाधान को तेजी से ट्रैक करना (उसका समाधान करना) है।
• यह समझौता पंजाब नेशनल बैंक के गैर-कार्यकारी अध्यक्ष सुनील मेहता की अगुआई वाली समिति द्वारा प्रस्तावित खराब ऋण को हल करने के लिए ‘सशक्त परियोजना’ का हिस्सा है।
• आपको बता दें, इंटरक्रेडिटर समझौते पर हस्ताक्षर सशक्त परियोजना के कार्यान्वयन में पहला कदम है।

 पाकिस्तान के उच्च न्यायालय की पहली महिला मुख्य न्यायाधीश बनीं सैयदा ताहिरा

• न्यायाधीश सैयदा ताहिरा सफदर बलूचिस्तान उच्च न्यायालय की मुख्य न्यायाधीश नियुक्त की गई है।
• इसके साथ ही रुढ़िवादी मुस्लिम बहुल पाकिस्तान में किसी अदालत में वह पहली महिला मुख्य न्यायाधीश बनेंगी।
• बलूचिस्तान उच्च न्यायालय के मुख्य न्यायाधीश मुहम्म्द नूर मेसकानजई 31 अगस्त को सेवानिवृत होने वाले हैं।
• ताहिरा का कार्यकाल अगले साल 5 अक्तूबर तक होगा।

 उत्तरी कोरिया ने रॉकेट लॉन्च साइट को खत्म करना शुरू किया

• अमेरिका की सैटेलाइट इमेजिंग पर नजर रखने वाली एक संस्था 38 नॉर्थ के मुताबिक, उत्तर कोरिया ने देश के उत्तर-पश्चिम में स्थित सोहाए स्टेशन स्थित परीक्षण स्थल खत्म करना शुरू किया है।
• गौरतलब है कि पिछले महीने अमेरिका के राष्ट्रपति डोनाल्ड ट्रंप और उत्तर कोरिया के प्रमुख किम जोंग उन ने सिंगापुर के सेंटोसा द्वीप में एक दूसरे से मुलाकात की थी, जिसमें उत्तर कोरिया रॉकेट लॉन्च साइट को खत्म करने पर सहमत हो गया था ।
• आपको बता दें, तानाशाह किम जोंग-उन ने पहले 27 अप्रैल को दक्षिण कोरिया के राष्ट्रपति मून जे-इन और फिर 12 जून को डोनाल्ड ट्रम्प से मिलकर कोरियाई प्रायद्वीप को परमाणु मुक्त करने को कहा था।

 बिहार विधानसभा में मद्य निषेध 2016 कानून में संशोधन

• बिहार विधानसभा में मद्य निषेध 2016 संशोधन विधेयक सदन में पेश किया गया, जिस पर सदन में इसे स्वीकृति मिल गई।

          संशोधन का कारण

• मद्य निषेध संशोधन विधेयक पेश करने के बाद मुख्यमंत्री नीतीश कुमार ने इसके संशोधन पर सदन को जानकारी देते हुए कहा कि इस कानून के दुरुपयोग को रोकने पर सरकार का जोर है।
• निर्दोष लोगों को बचाने के लिए इसमें संशोधन किया गया है। संशोधन का मतलब ये नहीं कि पीने वाले बख्शे जाएंगे, शराब पीकर उपद्रव करने पर कड़ी कार्रवाई होगी।

          नए विधेयक में क्या है

• पहली बार शराब पीते पकड़े जाने पर 50 हज़ार रुपये जुर्माना या तीन माह की सजा।
• दूसरी बार शराब पीते पकड़े जाने पर 5 साल तक की सजा या 5 लाख तक का जुर्माना।
• इस संशोधन में अब सिर्फ शराब पीने वाला ही पकड़ा जाएगा ।
• होटल या प्रतिष्ठान में शराब पीते पकडे जाने पर पूरा परिसर सील नहीं किया जाएगा, सिर्फ वही कमरा सील होगा जिसमे शराब मिलेगी और जिस स्थान को सील नहीं किया जा सकता उसे ध्वस्त कर दिया जाएगा।

 एससी ने मुसलमानों के बीच बहुविवाह और निकाह-हलाला पर केंद्र से प्रतिक्रिया मांगी

• बहुविवाह और निकाह-हलाला के खिलाफ दायर एक और याचिका पर सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने केंद्र सरकार को नोटिस जारी कर जवाब मांगा है।
• सीजेआई दीपक मिश्रा की अध्यक्षता वाली पीठ ने उत्तर प्रदेश के बुलंदशहर की रहने वाली 27 वर्षीय फरजाना की याचिका को सम्बंधित सभी मामलो के साथ संलग्न कर दिया है।

          जानें क्या था मुद्दा

• दरअसल, फरजाना की शादी 25 मार्च, 2012 को मुस्लिम रीति रिवाजों से अब्दुल कादिर से हुई थी, लगभग एक वर्ष बाद फरजाना को पति की पूर्व में हुई शादी का पता चलने पर दोनों में मनमुटाव हो गया।
• फरजाना का आरोप है कि ससुरालियों ने उसे दहेज के लिए प्रताड़ित करना शुरू कर दिया और पति उससे मारपीट करने लगे।
• वर्ष 2014 में पति ने उसे गैरकानूनी तरीके से तलाक (तीन तलाक) दे दिया इसके बाद फरजाना ने बहुविवाह और निकाह-हलाला को असंवैधानिक करार देने की मांग वाली याचिका सुप्रीम कोर्ट में दायर की है।

India, Rwanda sign eight agreements

• India and Rwanda signed eight agreements following delegation-level talks between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Rwandan President Paul Kagame in Kigali.
• The two countries signed agreements in the fields of Defence, Trade, Agriculture, Leather and allied products and Dairy.
• India also extended two Lines of Credit of 100 million US dollars each - one for development of industrial parks and Kigali Special Economic Zone, and the other for three agricultural projects in Rwanda.

 Why this meeting is historic?

• Mr Modi became the first Indian Prime Minister to visit Rwanda when he landed in Kigali on the first leg of his three-nation tour to Africa.
• Prime Minister will visit the Kigali Genocide Memorial which is the final resting place of more than 2 lakh 50,000 victims of Genocide against the Tutsis in Rwanda.
• Why cows are Donated ?

• Mr Modi will also visit the Rweru Model Village where Mr Modi will donate 200 cows under the Girinka programme, a scheme initiated by President Kagame in response to the high rate of child malnutrition and as a means of accelerating poverty reduction, and integrate livestock and crop farming.

Banks, FIs sign an agreement to speed up resolution of bad loans

• Twenty-four banks led by the State Bank of India signed the inter-creditor agreement that aims to fast-track the resolution of bad loans.
• In a stock exchange filing, SBI said that its board has approved the signing of the inter-creditor pact.
• Seventeen public sector banks, five private sector banks and two other financial institutions have signed the agreement.
• The agreement is part of Project Sashakt, a five-pronged strategy to resolve bad loans, proposed by a committee led by Punjab National Bank non-executive chairman Sunil Mehta.

Recommendations of Committee :

• The new framework authorizes the lead bank to implement a resolution plan in a time-bound manner.
• The Mehta committee has also proposed the setting up of a national asset management company, which will raise multiple sector-specific investment funds to invest in stressed assets. 
• The signing of the inter-creditor agreement is the first step in the implementation of Project Sashakt.
• According to the agreement, lenders with exposure to stressed accounts will appoint a lead bank as its agent to formulate a resolution plan.
• The role of the lead lender varies from determining the proportion of sustainable debt to finalising the resolution plan.
• The terms of the resolution plan has to be approved by 66% of the lenders, and will then be final and binding on all other lenders.
• The new framework is applicable to accounts with exposures of over ₹2,000 crore where lenders must implement the resolution plan within 180 days
• Under the inter-creditor agreement, lenders will look at resolving accounts with exposure between ₹50 crore and ₹2,000 crore.

 

SC seeks response from Centre on polygamy & Nikah-halala among Muslims :

• The Supreme Court has sought a response from the Centre on a fresh plea challenging practices of polygamy and nikah halala among Muslims.
• The fresh plea sought a direction from the apex court to declare polygamy and nikah halala illegal and unconstitutional for being violative of several Articles of the Constitution.
• The petition also sought a declaration that extra-judicial talaq, nikah halala, and polygamy are offences under various sections of Indian Penal Code.
• The apex court had in August last year banned the age-old practice of instant triple talaq.

What is Nikah-Halala :

• Nikah Halala deals with the process in which a Muslim woman, in order to remarry her former husband, has to marry a different person and get divorced from him.

 

1st Meeting of India-Bangladesh Joint Committee on Border Haats

 

• The first meeting of the India-Bangladesh Joint Committee on Border Haats was held on 22-23 July 2018 in Agartala, Tripura.
• In the meeting both sides noted the positive impact of Border Haats on the livelihoods of the people living in areas adjoining the Haats.
• The Joint Committee visited the Border Haat at Kamlasagar (Sipahijala District, Tripura) – Tarapur (Brahmanbaria, Bangladesh) on 22 July 2018, appreciated its vibrant functioning and noted the need for improvement of infrastructure.
• What is Border Haat :
• India-Bangladesh Border Haat is a border trade market between Bangladesh and India.
• The trade at border haats is permitted to be carried out in Indian Rupees/Bangladesh Taka and on a barter basis, and data of such trade is maintained by the Haat Management Committee of the respective border haat.

High level committee under Union Home Secretary constituted to check mob lynching

• Two high-level committees have been constituted by the Central government to suggest ways and legal framework to effectively deal with incidents of mob violence and lynching.
• One of the committees is being headed by Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh and the other by Union Home Secretary Rajiv Gauba.
• The move came a week after the Supreme Court asked the Central government to enact a law to deal with incidents of lynching and take action on mob violence.
• The government respects the recent directions of the Supreme Court on the issue of mob violence and has issued an advisory to State governments urging them to take effective measures to prevent incidents of mob violence and lynching, and take stringent action as per the law.
• The Secretaries of the justice, legal affairs, legislative, and social justice and empowerment departments are members of the committee.
• ‘Police’ and ‘Public Order’ are State subjects as per the Constitutional scheme and State governments are responsible for controlling crime, maintaining law and order, and protecting the life and property of the citizens
• What is Mob Lynching :
• Lynching is a premeditated extrajudicial killing by a group. It is most often used to characterize informal public executions by a mob in order to punish an alleged transgressor, or to intimidate a group.

Draft framework of National Policy for Domestic Workers launched

• To bring Workers into the social security net and to notify minimum wages and work timings a draft of National Policy for Domestic Workers is created.
• Domestic worker unions and NGOs, who have been demanding a Central legislation, providing for inter-state registrations of domestic workers, with centrally-set norms for wages, working hours and social security benefits, expressed disappointment at the proposed draft.
• Recommendations:
• Boards of registration could be set up at state, district, or even Resident Welfare Association (RWA) level.
• These boards would administer social security benefits for workers, including Provident Fund contribution by employers and medical insurance.
• The draft policy make recommendations on working hours, leave entitlements and minimum wages, but would leave it to states to notify them in accordance with their existing legislations.
• The draft policy envisages that states would set up mechanisms to register and regulate placement agencies for domestic workers, with no provision for Central regulation.

Pakistan gets its first woman chief justice of high court

• Pakistan has got its first-ever woman Chief Justice of a high court. Justice Tahira Safdar was named as the Chief Justice of the Balochistan High Court by Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar.
• Justice Safdar had made history in 1982 when she became the first woman civil judge in Balochistan.
• She is currently a member of the three-judge special court conducting the trial of former President Pervez Musharraf for committing treason by proclaiming a state of emergency in November, 2007.

North Korea begins dismantling rocket launch site

• North Korea appears to have begun dismantling part of a key rocket launch site in the country's north-west.
• Satellite images of the Sohae station seen by US-based monitoring group 38 North suggest Pyongyang is complying with a promise made to the US in June.
• US President Donald Trump said North Korea's leader Kim Jong-un had vowed to destroy an engine test site, but did not specify which one.
• Pyongyang has maintained that Sohae is a satellite launch site.

G20 Finance Ministers Meet conclude in Buenos Aires

• Ms. Christine Lagarde, Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), issued the statement at the conclusion of the Group of 20 (G20) Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors Meeting in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
• Trade protectionism was the main topic discussed by finance ministers and central bank governors at the Group of 20 (G20) ministerial meeting in Buenos Aires.
• The representatives voiced their rejection to the recently introduced U.S. tariffs on steel and aluminum imports, as well as other protectionist measures.
• The G20 meetings typically concluded with a joint statement, known as a communique which reflects shared values and goals.
• The ministers also dwelt on the need to bring cryptocurrencies under sharper regulation.
• With the presence of 57 delegations from countries and institutions, this is the first of five such meetings to be held before Argentina hosts the G20 summit from Nov. 30 to Dec. 1.
• The second meeting of G20 finance ministers and central bank governors will be held in Washington on April 20 before returning to the Argentinean capital on July 21.

Amendments to prohibition law passed in Bihar Assembly

• The Bihar Assembly has passed a bill to amend some of the stringent provisions of the prohibition law in order to prevent its misuse and make the quantum of punishment proportionate to the nature of offence.
• Changes in the excise law enacted in 2016 are being brought after the state received complaints of widespread misuse of the provisions by police and excise officials.

Changes are :

• Now, first-time offenders will have to pay a fine of 50,000 rupees, failing which, they will have to undergo a prison term of three months.
• Earlier, under the prohibition law the quantum of sentence was for five-year prison term, in addition to a one lakh rupees fine, for those consuming liquor or caught in an inebriated state.
• Also, the first offence under the Bihar liquor law was non-bailable which has now been made bailable.
• Those violating the law for the second time and more will be liable to 10 years of imprisonment and fine of five lakh rupees.

मुस्लिम धर्मातील बहुपत्नीकत्व आणि निकाह हलाला प्रथांबाबत केंद्र सरकारकडे विचारणा

• मुस्लिम धर्मातील बहुपत्नीकत्व आणि निकाह हलाला या प्रथांच्या विरोधात आव्हान देणारी याचिका सर्वोच्च न्यायालयात दाखल करण्यात आलेली आहे. याबाबतीत न्यायालयाने केंद्र सरकारकडून त्यांच्या प्रतिसादासाठी विचारणा केली आहे.
• भारताचे सरन्यायाधीश दीपक मिश्रा यांच्या खंडपीठाने केंद्राला नोटिस दिल्यानंतर हे प्रकरण घटनापीठाकडे सोपवले आहे. भारतीय राज्यघटनेच्या अनेक कलमांचा भंग होत असल्याने बहुपत्नीकत्व आणि निकाह हलाला या प्रथांना बेकायदेशीर आणि असंवैधानिक घोषित करण्याविषयी ही याचिका दाखल करण्यात आली आहे.

जवामाकडून होणार्‍या हत्यांना रोखण्यासाठी गृहसचिवांच्या नेतृत्वात उच्चस्तरीय समितीची स्थापना

• देशाच्या काही भागांमध्ये जवामाकडून झालेल्या हत्यांच्या पार्श्वभूमीवर अशा घटनांना रोखण्यासाठी आणि यावर उपाययोजना करण्यासाठी शिफारसीसाठी केंद्र शासनाने केंद्रीय गृहसचिवांच्या नेतृत्वातउच्चस्तरीय समितीची स्थापना करण्यात आली आहे.
• न्याय विभाग, कायदा विभाग, विधी विभाग आणि सामाजिक न्याय व सबलीकरण विभागांचे सचिव या समितीचे सदस्य आहेत. समिती शिफारसी चार आठवड्यांच्या आत सरकारपुढे सादर करणार.

स्थानिक कामगारांसाठी राष्ट्रीय धोरणाचा आराखडा तयार

• स्थानिक कामगारांच्या कल्याणासाठी राष्ट्रीय धोरणाचा आराखडा जाहीर करण्यात आला आहे.
• वर्तमान कायद्यात स्थानिक कामगारांचे समावेशन; स्थानिक कामगारांची नोंदणी; स्वतःची संघटना, कामगार संघटना तयार करण्याचे अधिकार; किमान वेतनाचा आणि सामाजिक सुरक्षिततेचा हक्क; व्यावसायिक कौशल्य वाढविण्याचा अधिकार; संरक्षण; न्याय मिळवण्याचा हक्क अश्या बाबींना या धोरणात समाविष्ट करण्यात आले आहे.

भारत आणि रवांडा यांच्यात आठ करार केले गेलेत

• पंतप्रधान नरेंद्र मोदी यांच्या आफ्रिकेतल्या रवांडादेशाला दिलेल्या भेटीदरम्यान दोन्ही देशांमध्ये आठ करारांवर स्वाक्षर्‍या करण्यात आलेल्या आहेत.
• किगालीमध्ये रवांडाचे राष्ट्राध्यक्ष पॉल कागामे यांच्या दरम्यान शिष्टमंडळ पातळीवरील चर्चेनंतर हे करार केले गेलेत. हे करार संरक्षण, व्यापार, कृषी, चमडा आणि संबंधित उत्पादने आणि दुग्ध क्षेत्रात झाले आहेत.
• रवांडा हा एक भूपरिवेष्टित पूर्व आफ्रिकी देश आहे. किगाली हे या देशाचे राजधानी शहर असून रवांडन फ्रँक हे राष्ट्रीय चलन आहे.

‘बॉर्डर हाट’ संदर्भात भारत-बांग्लादेश यांच्या संयुक्त समितीची प्रथम बैठक त्रिपुरात संपन्न

• 22-23 जुलै 2018 रोजी त्रिपुरा राज्यातल्या आगरतळा शहरात ‘बॉर्डर हाट’ संदर्भात भारत-बांग्लादेश यांच्या संयुक्त समितीची प्रथम बैठक यशस्वीपणे पार पडली.
• भारत-बांग्लादेश ‘बॉर्डर हाट’ हे बांग्लादेश आणि भारत यांच्यातले सीमेवरील व्यापारी बाजारपेठ आहे. या ठिकाणी व्यवहार भारतीय रुपया / बांग्लादेशी टाका या चलनात आणि बार्टर आधारावर करण्याची परवानगी आहे. अशा व्यवहारांचा तपशील ‘हाट व्यवस्थापन समिती’ ठेवते.
• 2017 साली झालेल्या कराराच्या अंतर्गत सीमेवर कार्यरत असलेल्या चार ‘बॉर्डर हाट’लगत असलेल्या क्षेत्रांमध्ये निवासींच्या जीवनमानावर सकारात्मक प्रभाव पडलेला आहे. आणखी सहा बॉर्डर हाटांची स्थापना करण्याची योजना विचाराधीन आहे.
• बांग्लादेश हा बंगालचा उपसागरालगत असलेला भारताच्या पूर्वेकडे असलेला दक्षिण आशियाई देश आहे. ढाका ही देशाची राजधानी असून चलन बांग्लादेशी टाका हे आहे.

उत्तर कोरियाने क्षेपणास्त्राची प्रक्षेपण स्थळे नष्ट करण्यास सुरुवात केली

• अमेरिकेला वचन दिलेल्या उत्तर कोरियाने स्वत:च्या क्षेपणास्त्राची प्रक्षेपण स्थळे आणि सुविधा नष्ट करण्यासाठी सुरुवात केली आहे.
• डॉनाल्ड ट्रम्प आणि किम जॉँग-उन या दोघांमध्ये 12 जून 2018 रोजी पार पडलेल्या शिखर परिषदेत उत्तर कोरियाने आपल्या क्षेपणास्त्राच्या सुविधा आणि ठिकाणी नष्ट करण्याविषयी वचन दिले होते.
• उत्तर कोरिया हा पूर्व आशियाताला कोरिया द्वीपकल्पचा उत्तरेकडील भाग आहे. याची राजधानी प्योंगयांग हे शहर असून चलन उत्तर कोरियन वोन हे आहे.

अर्जेंटिनामध्ये जी-20 देशांच्या अर्थमंत्र्यांची बैठक पार पडली

• 23 जून 2018 रोजी अर्जेंटिनाच्या ब्युएनॉस ऐरीस शहरात जी-20 देशांच्या अर्थमंत्र्यांची आणि केंद्रीय बँकांचे गव्हर्नर यांची बैठक पार पडली. 
• जी-20 हा जगातल्या 20 प्रमुख अर्थव्यवस्थांच्या 20 वित्त मंत्र्यांचा आणि केंद्रीय बँकांचे गवर्नर यांचा समूह आहे. या समूहात भारताला पकडून 19 देश आणि यूरोपीय संघाचा समावेश आहे. या समूहाचे प्रतिनिधित्व यूरोपीय परिषदेचे अध्यक्ष आणि यूरोपीय केंद्रीय बँकेद्वारा केले जाते. या समूहाची स्थापना 1999 साली झाली. जी-20 समूहाचे अध्यक्षपद सध्या अर्जेंटिनाकडे आहे.

अर्थव्यवस्था आणि बँकिंग

बुडीत कर्जाची निराकरणाची प्रक्रिया जलद करण्यासाठी बॅंका, वित्तीय संस्थांमध्ये करार

• भारतीय स्टेट बँकेच्या (SBI) नेतृत्वात 24 बँकांनी बुडीत कर्जाची निराकरणाची प्रक्रिया जलद करण्यासाठी आंतर-कर्जदार (inter-creditor) करारावर स्वाक्षरी केली आहे.
• 17 सार्वजनिक क्षेत्रातील बँका, 5 खाजगी बँका आणि 2 अन्य वित्तीय संस्थांनी या करारावर स्वाक्षर्‍या केल्या आहेत. हा करार पंजाब नॅशनल बँकेच्या गैर-कार्यकारी अध्यक्ष सुनील मेहता यांच्या नेतृत्वात एका समितीकडून प्रस्तावित ‘प्रोजेक्ट सशक्त’ या प्रकल्पाचा पहिला टप्पा आहे. करारानुसार, 2,000 कोटी रुपयांसह बुडीत खाते असलेले कर्जदाते 180 दिवसांच्या आत कर्जाच्या निराकरणाची योजना तयार करण्यासाठी SBI बँकेला नियुक्त केले.

बिहार विधानसभेने प्रतिबंधक कायद्यातल्या काही कडक तरतुदींमध्ये सुधारणा मंजूर केल्या

• बिहार राज्याच्या विधानसभेने कायद्याचा दुरुपयोग टाळण्यासाठी आणि गुन्हाच्या स्वरूपात शिक्षेचे प्रमाण कमी करण्यासाठी वर्तमान दारू प्रतिबंधक कायद्यातल्या काही कडक तरतुदींमध्ये सुधारणा करणारे विधेयक मंजूर केले आहे.
• या विधेयकाने 2016 साली लागू केलेल्या अबकारी कायद्यात बदल करण्यात येणार आहे. त्यानुसार, पहिल्यांदा गुन्हेगारांना 50,000 रुपयांचा दंड (किंवा 3 महिन्यांचा तुरुंगवास) आणि त्यानंतर 10 वर्षांपर्यंतचा तुरुंगवास आणि पाच लाख रुपयांचा दंड ठोठावला जाईल. त्यानंतर नशेच्या अवस्थेत सापडल्यास एक लाख रुपये (किंवा पाच वर्षांचा तुरुंगवास) दंड ठोठावण्यात येईल. तसेच आता जमानत दिली जाईल.

न्या. ताहिरा सफदार: पाकिस्तानमध्ये उच्च न्यायालयाची प्रथम महिला मुख्य न्यायाधीश

• पाकिस्तानच्या बलुचिस्तान उच्च न्यायालयाचे मुख्य न्यायाधीश म्हणून न्या. ताहिरा सफदार यांची नियुक्ती करण्यात आली आहे. त्या देशाच्या प्रथम महिला आहेत, ज्या या पदी कार्य करणार.
• 31 ऑगस्ट रोजी निवृत्त होत असलेले न्या. मोहम्मद नूर मुस्कानझई यांच्याजागी ही नियुक्ती केली गेली आहे. न्या. सफदार यांनी 1982 साली बलूचिस्तानमधील पहिल्या महिला नागरी न्यायाधीश म्हणून देखील इतिहास घडवला होता.
