लोकसभा ने दिवालियापन और दिवालियापन संहिता संशोधन बिल-2018 पास किया

• लोकसभा में 31 जुलाई 2018 को दिवालियापन और उससे जुड़ा दूसरा संशोधन बिल पास हो गया है।
• दिवालियापन और इससे जुड़े संशोधित बिल को वित्त मंत्री पीयूष गोयल ने लोकसभा में पेश किया था।
• अब इस बिल को राज्यसभा में पेश किया जाएगा और अगर वहां से भी यह पास हो जाता है तो इस नए संशोधित कानून को लागू कर दिया जाएगा।
• इस कानून के जरिए वैसे कंपनियों और कारोबारियों पर कार्रवाई की जाएगी जो बैंक से भारी-भरकम कर्ज लेते हैं और कंपनी के दिवालिया हो जाने पर कर्ज नहीं चुकाते हैं।

          विपक्ष ने कहा

• हालांकि विपक्ष ने इस संशोधन बिल के कई नियमों को लेकर भारी विरोध भी किया। विपक्ष का मानना है कि इस बिल के नए नियम से कुछ चुनिंदा उद्योग घरानों को फायदा पहुंचाया जाएगा।

          बिल पास होने से क्या होगा असर

• इस बिल के जरिए घर खरीदने वाले लोगों को जहां आर्थिक सुरक्षा देने की बात की गई है वहीं बेईमान और बिल्डरों और उद्योगपतियों के खिलाफ ऐसी कार्रवाई होगी, जिससे वो अपनी गैर-निष्पादित संपत्ति को भी नहीं बेच सकेंगे।

सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने कर छूट अधिसूचना पर अपने 21 वर्षीय फैसले को खत्म किया

• उच्चतम न्यायालय ने 21 साल पुराने फैसले को पलटते हुए 31 जुलाई 2018 को कहा कि जब कर छूट अधिसूचना में चीजें साफ नहीं हों, तो ऐसी अनिश्चितता का लाभ राज्य के पक्ष में जाना चाहिये।
• हालांकि, शीर्ष अदालत ने कहा कि यदि कर देनदारी संबंधी अधिनियम में चीजें अस्पष्ट हों, तो संदेह का लाभ करदाता को मिलना चाहिए।
• पांच सदस्यीय संविधान पीठ ने कहा कि सरकार की कर रियायत संबंधी अधिसूचना में संदेह की स्थिति में उसके लाभ का दावा करदाता नहीं कर सकता।
• न्यायाधीश रंजन गोगोई की अध्यक्षता वाली पीठ ने कहा कि लाभ की प्रासंगिकता साबित करने की जवाबदेही करदाता पर होगी।

भारत को मिला नाटो देशों के बराबर का दर्जा

• अमेरिका ने 30 जुलाई 2018 को भारत को सामरिक व्यापार प्राधिकरण-1 (एसटीए- 1) देश का दर्जा देकर उसके लिए हाई-टेक प्रॉडक्ट्स की बिक्री के लिए निर्यात नियंत्रण में रियायत दी।
• भारत ने अमेरिका के इस फैसले पर कहा है कि इससे दोनों देशों के बीच रक्षा और कई अन्य क्षेत्रों में आपसी सहयोग को बढ़ावा मिलेगा।
• अमेरिका ने दक्षिण एशिया में ये दर्जा सिर्फ भारत को दिया है। भारत के अलावा ये दर्जा नाटो के सदस्य देशों जैसे दक्षिण कोरिया, आस्ट्रेलिया और जापान को ही हासिल है।

          क्या होगा असर

• भारत को STA-1 का दर्जा मिलने से अमेरिका से रक्षा और अन्य क्षेत्रों की गूढ़ तकनीकी हासिल करने में मदद मिलेगी।

प्रथम नेपाल-भारत थिंक टैंक शिखर सम्मेलन काठमांडू में शुरू

• पहला नेपाल-भारत थिंक टैंक शिखर सम्मेलन दोनों देशों के बीच अधिक सहयोग और ज्ञान साझा करने के लिए काठमांडू में शुरू हो गया है।
• शिखर सम्मेलन संयुक्त रूप से एशियाई संस्थान के कूटनीति और अंतर्राष्ट्रीय मामलों और नेहरू मेमोरियल संग्रहालय पुस्तकालय द्वारा आयोजित किया जा रहा है।
• नेपाल के पूर्व प्रधानमंत्री और नेपाल के सत्तारूढ़ कम्युनिस्ट पार्टी के सह-अध्यक्ष, पुष्पा कमल दहल प्रचंड ने शिखर सम्मेलन का उद्घाटन किया।
• उद्देश्य : शिखर सम्मेलन का मुख्य उद्देश्य दोनों देशों में विचार-विमर्शों के बीच बहुमुखी सहयोग के माध्यम से भारत और नेपाल के बीच द्विपक्षीय संबंधों को मजबूत करना है।

म्यांमार ने रोहिंग्या मानवाधिकारों के दुरुपयोग की जांच के लिए स्वतंत्र आयोग पैनल की नियुक्ति की

• म्यांमार ने मानवाधिकारों के दुरुपयोग के आरोपों की जांच के लिए जांच आयोग की स्थापना की है।
• इस आयोग में चार व्यक्ति होंगे -दो स्थानीय सदस्य और दो अंतरराष्ट्रीय सदस्य, अंतरराष्ट्रीय सदस्य फिलिपिनो राजनयिक रोज़ारियो मनालो और जापान के पूर्व राजदूत केनजो ओशिमा होंगे।
• सुरक्षा पदों पर एआरएसए (Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army) द्वारा किए गए हमलों के जवाब में पिछले साल अगस्त में शुरू हुई सैन्य कार्रवाई के बाद 7,00,000 से अधिक रोहिंग्या म्यांमार के पश्चिमी राखीन राज्य से भाग गए हैं।

अमेरिका ने अब्दुल रहमान अल-दखिल को वैश्विक आतंकवादी के रूप में घोषित किया

• अमेरिका ने 31 जुलाई 2018 को 2008 को मुंबई में हुए घातक हमलों के पीछे आतंकवादी समूह लश्कर-ए-तैयबा से जुड़े तीन पाकिस्तानी लोगों की संपत्ति फ्रीज कर दी है।
• इसके अलावा अमेरिका ने लश्कर-ए-तैयबा कमांडर अब्दुल रहमान अल-दाखिल को भी एक विशेष वैश्विक आतंकी घोषित कर दिया है।
• अब्दुल रहमान जम्मू क्षेत्र में आतंकी संगठन का संभागीय कमांडर था। वह अमेरिकी नामित विदेशी आतंकवादी संगठन (FTO) और लश्कर-ए-तैयबा का लंबे समय से सदस्य है।
• वह 1997 और 2001 के बीच भारत में LeT के हमलों के लिए मुख्य संचालक था। ब्रिटिश बलों ने 2004 में इराक में दाखिल को पकड़ा था।
• इसके बाद उसे इराक और अफगानिस्तान में अमेरिकी हिरासत में रखा गया और 2014 में पाकिस्तान के हवाले कर दिया गया।
• पाकिस्तान में हिरासत से रिहा होने के बाद दाखिल फिर से लश्कर-ए-तैयबा के लिए काम करने लगा।

मध्य प्रदेश सरकार ने देश के वीरों के सम्मान में 14 अगस्त को ‘शहीद सम्मान दिवस’ मनाया जाएगा

• भोपाल में 30 जुलाई 2018 को कैबिनेट की बैठक में इस प्रभाव का फैसला लिया गया था।
• यह एक व्यापक कार्यक्रम होगा और मध्य प्रदेश के सभी गांवों, ब्लॉकों और जिलों में इसका विस्तार होगा।
• इस दौरान शहीदों को श्रद्धांजलि अर्पित की जाएगी और शहीदों के रिश्तेदारों को भी सम्मानित किया जाएगा।
• मंत्रि, संसद के सदस्य, राज्य विधायी सभा और मुख्यमंत्री स्वयं इस अवसर पर शहीदों के परिवार के सदस्यों से मिलेंगे।

जून में कोर सेक्‍टर की ग्रोथ 6.7%

• आठ बुनियादी उद्योग की वृद्धि दर जून में 6.7 प्रतिशत रही, जो पिछले 7 महीने का उच्‍चतम स्‍तर है।
• सीमेंट, रिफाइनरी और कोल सेक्‍टर के बेहतर प्रदर्शन की वजह से ओवरऑल ग्रोथ रेट में अच्‍छी वृद्धि दर्ज की गई है।
• आठ सेक्‍टर में सीमेंट, रिफाइनरी, कोल, फर्टिलाइजर, स्‍टील, नेचरल गैस, इलेक्‍ट्रीसिटी और क्रूड ऑयल शामिल हैं।
• वृद्धि की सबसे ऊंची दर नवंबर 2017 में दर्ज की गई थी, जो 6.9 प्रतिशत थी।
• वाणिज्‍य एवं उद्योग मंत्रालय द्वारा जारी ताजा आंकड़ों के मुताबिक, सीमेंट, रिफाइनरी प्रोडक्‍ट्स और कोल सेक्‍टर में सालाना आधार पर क्रमश: 13.2 प्रतिशत, 12 प्रतिशत और 11.5 प्रतिशत की वृद्धि दर्ज की गई।
• क्रूड ऑयल और नेचूलर गैस में क्रमश: 3.4 प्रतिशत और 2.7 प्रतिशत की नकारात्‍मक वृद्धि रही।
• जून में बिजली उत्‍पादन में 4 प्रतिशत की वृद्धि रही, जो कि एक साल पहले समान माह में 2.2 प्रतिशत थी।

भारत ने लगाया चीन, मलेशिया से सौर कोशिकाओं के आयात पर सुरक्षा शुल्क

• घरेलू उद्योगों को सौर बैटरियों के आयात में तेज वृद्धि से बचाने के लिए, चीन और मलेशिया से उत्पाद के आयात में दो साल तक एक सुरक्षा शुल्क लगाया गया है।
• वाणिज्य मंत्रालय के तहत निदेशालय के सामान्य व्यापार निदेशालय (डीजीटीआर) को इससे जुड़ी कई सिफारिशें मिलने के बाद यह कदम उठाया गया।
• वित्त मंत्रालय की अधिसूचना के अनुसार, 30 जुलाई से 29 जुलाई, 2019 के लिए 25 प्रतिशत सुरक्षा शुल्क लगाया गया है, जो 30 जुलाई, 2019 से 29 जनवरी, 2020 के दौरान 20 प्रतिशत हो जाएगा और 30 जनवरी से 29 जुलाई, 2020 तक 15 प्रतिशत के करीब होगा।

दिल्ली के पांच स्टेडियम होंगे 'प्लास्टिक फ्री जोन'

• स्वच्छ भारत मिशन कार्यक्रम के तहत युवा मामलों और खेल मंत्रालय 1 से 15 अगस्त, 2018 तक स्वच्छ पखवाड़ा (Swachhta Pakhwada) मना रहे हैं। इस अवसर पर, खेल विभाग ने दो प्रमुख पहल की हैं।
• पहले पहल के तहत भारतीय खेल प्राधिकरण (SAI) के दिल्ली स्थित पांच स्टेडियमों को स्वच्छ बनाए रखने के लिए इन्हें 'प्लास्टिक फ्री जोन' में शामिल किया जाएगा। यह अभियान एक अगस्त से दो अक्टूबर के बीच चलाया जाएगा, जिसके बाद इन सभी स्टेडियमों को स्वच्छता के आधार पर रैंक दी जाएगी।

          इन पांच स्टेडियमों में शामिल हैं-

• जवाहर लाल नेहरू स्टेडियम,
• मेजर ध्यानंचद नेशनल स्टेडियम,
• इंदिरा गांधी स्टेडियम,
• डॉ. कर्णी सिंह शूटिंग रेंज
• और डॉ. एसपीएम स्विमिंग पूल कॉम्पलेक्स।

यह सभी स्टेडियम अपने आंतरिक ढांचे को मजबूत करेंगे और सही जगह साफ पीने के पानी की सुविधा मुहैया कराएंगे। इसके अलावा प्लास्टिक डिस्पोजल के विकल्प रखेंगे, कचरे को फेंकने की सही व्यवस्था के साथ स्टेडियम को प्लास्टिक फ्री जोन बनाने की हर संभव कोशिश करेंगे।
 दूसरी पहल इन स्टेडियम को स्वैच्छिक रैंक देने के लिए होगी, यह हैं निम्नलिखित पैरामीटर

• परिसर की सफाई
• शौचालय / स्टेडिया का स्वच्छता मानक
• परिसर में जल निकासी प्रणाली का कार्य स्तर
• पेयजल की सुविधा
• वृक्षारोपण और इसके विकास के रखरखाव
• परिसर में मौजूदा पेड़ों / पौधों आदि की उचित ट्रिमिंग
• अपशिष्ट प्रबंधन प्रणाली / सुविधाएं
• परिसर के पड़ोसी क्षेत्रों की स्वच्छता

Lok Sabha passes Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code amendment bill

• The Lok Sabha has passed the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (Second Amendment) Bill 2018.
• The Bill amends the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, 2016 to clarify that allottees under a real estate project should be treated as financial creditors.

Changes made :

• The voting threshold for routine decisions taken by the committee of creditors has been reduced from 75 per cent to 51 per cent.
• For certain key decisions, this threshold has been reduced to 66 per cent.
• The Bill also allows the withdrawal of a resolution application submitted to the National Company Law Tribunal under the Code.  This decision can be taken with the approval of 90 per cent of the committee of creditors 

SC overrules its 21-yr-old verdict on tax exemption notification

• The Supreme Court has overruled its 21-year-old verdict and held that benefit of any ambiguity in notification related to tax exemptions must be interpreted in favour of the State.
• It, however, reiterated that if in the event of ambiguity in a taxation liability statute, the benefit should go to the subject or assessee. A five-judge Constitution bench said that benefit of ambiguity in exemption notification of the government, which is subject to strict interpretation, cannot be claimed by the assessee.
• The burden of proving the applicability of benefit would be on the assessee to show that his case comes within the parameters of the exemption clause or exemption notification. 

US grants Strategic Trade Authorization Tier-1 Status to India

• The U.S. administration's decision to place India in the Strategic Trade Authorisation-1 list of countries, that eases export of high-tech items, acknowledges the security as well as economic relationship between the two largest democracies of the world, and boosts the defence partnership in a big way. 

Why India got Admission in this list : 

• It is a sign of trust not only in the relationship but also on India's capabilities an economy and as security partner, because it also presupposes that India has the multilateral export control regime in place, which would allow the transfer of more sensitive defence technologies and dual-use technologies to India and without the risk of any.
• Currently, 36 countries, mostly all NATO nations, have this status, so it's a very elevated status from an export control point of view.
• STA-1 provides India greater supply chain efficiency, both for defence and for other high-tech products, that will increase activity with US systems, the interoperability of the systems, and it will reduce time and resources needed to get licensing approved.
• US companies will be able to more efficiently export a much wider range of products to Indian high technology and military customers. India's new status will benefit US manufacturers while continuing to protect its national security. 

First 'Nepal-India Think Tank' Summit held in Kathmandu

• The first 'Nepal-India Think Tank' Summit to foster greater collaboration and knowledge-sharing among the think tanks of the two countries was held in Kathmandu.
• Former Prime Minister of Nepal and Co-Chairman of ruling Nepal Communist Party, Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' inaugurated the summit.
• Oceans play a very important role in the development of nations and Nepal can think of adopting 'Look South' policy to access most happening region of Indian Ocean.
• Nepal's Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies, Matrika Prasad Yadav and Indian Ambassador to Nepal Manjeev Singh Puri also attended the summit.
• The summit was jointly organized by the Asian Institute of Diplomacy and International Affairs and Nehru Memorial Museum Library.
• The participants including think tanks, policy makers, diplomats, academicians, businesspersons and journalists deliberated on the Indo-Nepal ties and its dimensions in different sessions. 

Myanmar appoints independent commission panel to probe Rohingya human rights abuses

• Myanmar has established a commission of inquiry to probe allegations of human rights abuses in conflict-torn Rakhine state, as the country faces growing calls for accountability over accusations of ethnic cleansing against Rohingya Muslims. 

Details of the committee: 

• The four-person commission will be comprised of two local members and two international members, the international members comprising Filipino diplomat Rosario Manalo and Japan’s former ambassador to the UN Kenzo Oshima.
• The Independent Commission will investigate the allegations of human rights violations and related issues, following the terrorist attacks by  Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army (ARSA)
• More than 700,000 Rohingya have fled Myanmar‘s western Rakhine state after a military crackdown that started in August last year in response to attacks by ARSA on security posts.
• Myanmar has rejected accusations of ethnic cleansing and dismissed most accounts of atrocities, blaming Rohingya “terrorists”. 

US designates LeT's Abdul Rehman al-Dakhil as global terrorist

• The US designated LeT commander Abdul Rehman al-Dakhil and the Pakistan-based terror group's two financial facilitators - Hameed-ul Hassan and Abdul Jabbar - as "Specially Designated Global Terrorists".
• A longtime member of the US designated Foreign Terrorist Organisation (FTO) and Lashkar e-Taiba (LeT), Dakhil was an operational leader for LeT's attacks in India between 1997 and 2001.
• Among other consequences, all of his property and interests subject to US jurisdiction are blocked, and US persons are generally prohibited from engaging in any transactions with him.
• The two LeT financial facilitators are responsible for collecting, transporting and distributing funds to support the terror group and provide salaries to extremists. 

MP to observe Independence Day as Shahid Samman Divas to honour martyrs

• Madhya Pradesh government will observe Independence Day eve as Shahid Samman Divas to honour martyrs.
• The decision to this effect was taken at a cabinet meeting in Bhopal.
• It will be a comprehensive program and spread across all the villages, blocks and districts of Madhya Pradesh, where rallies will be organized to mark the day.
• The martyrs will be paid homage and the relatives of the martyrs will also be honoured on the day.
• Ministers, members of Parliament and state legislative assembly and chief Minister himself will meet family members of martyrs on the occasion to express gratitude for supreme sacrifice done by their near and dear for the nation. 

Eight core sector industries' growth climbs to 6.7 per cent in June 2018 

• India’s infrastructure sector growth gathered pace in June posting an increase of 6.7 per cent year-on-year riding on increased production of refinery products, coal and cement.
• Other core infrastructure sectors with higher production include steel, electricity and fertilisers. The two sectors, where production fell are crude oil and natural gas.
• In May, growth in the eight core infrastructure industries had slowed down to a 10-month low of 3.6 per cent, while in the previous month growth of the core sectors was 4.6 per cent.
• The eight core industries comprise 40.27 per cent of the weight of items included in the Index of Industrial Production (IIP). 

India imposes safeguard duty on solar cells imports from China, Malaysin 

• India has imposed a 25% safeguard duty on solar cell imports for a year till July 29, 2019, as the country tries to protect the domestic solar industry.
• The safeguard duty will not be imposed on imports from developing countries, except China and Malaysia.

Why It was Done :

• The federal trade ministry earlier recommended imposing a 25% duty on imports of solar cells and modules from China for one year to try to counter what it sees as a threat to domestic solar equipment manufacturing.
• India imports over 90% of its solar equipment from China.
• The safeguard duty on imports would be applicable for two years.
• It would be reduced in the second year to 20% for six months, and would be charged at 15% for the next six months. 

Ministry of Youth Affairs celebrating Swachhta Pakhwada to declare SAI Stadia as Plastic Free Zones

• Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports is celebrating Swachhta Pakhwada from August 1 to 15, 2018 under the Swachh Bharat Mission Programme of Ministry of Drinking Water & Sanitation.
• The Ministry aims to make all five SAI Stadia namely Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium, Indira Gandhi Stadium Complex, Dr. Karni Singh Shooting Range and Dr. SPM Swimming Pool Complex as “Plastic Free Zone”.
• These five Stadia will strengthen their internal organisational set up like availability of drinking water facilities, alternative to disposable plastic materials, suitable arrangements of waste disposal, proper sensitization of user and staff of the Stadia, etc. towards implementation of plastic free zone.
• Banners/Posters/Standees, etc. with appropriate slogans will be displayed properly at the entrance and other suitable places in the Stadia for creating awareness.

• लोकसभेत ‘नादारी व दिवाळखोरी संहिता (द्वितीय दुरूस्ती) विधेयक-2018’ संमत करण्यात आले आहे.
• हे विधेयक जून-18 मध्ये लागू करण्यात आलेल्या अध्यादेशाची जागा घेणार आहे. या विधेयकामधून घर खरेदी करणार्‍यांना वित्तीय सावकार (creditor) म्हणून दर्जा प्रदान करून त्यांना लक्षणीय सवलत दिले जाईल.

कर सवलत संदर्भात अधिसूचनेबाबत सर्वोच्च न्यायालयाचा 21 वर्षांपूर्वीचा निकाल खंडित

• कर सवलत संदर्भात अधिसूचनेबाबत सर्वोच्च न्यायालयाने 21 वर्षांपूर्वी म्हणजेच 1997 साली दिलेल्या त्याच्या निकालाला खंडित केले आणि हे स्पष्ट केले की, सरकारच्या कर सवलत संदर्भात दिलेल्या अधिसूचनेत शंका असलेल्या परिस्थितीत त्याच्या लाभाचा दावा करदाता करू शकत नाही.
• न्या. रंजन गोगोई यांच्या अध्यक्षतेत खंडपीठाच्या निकालानुसार, अधिसूचनेत बाबी स्पष्ट केलेल्या नसल्या तर अश्या अनिश्चिततेचे फायदा राज्यांना मिळायला हवा. लाभ मिळविण्यासाठीचे निकष सिद्ध करण्याची जबाबदारी करदात्यावर असेल. अश्या अधिसूचनेबाबत खोलवर विचार होणे गरजेचे आहे.
• 1997 सालापूर्वी सन एक्सपोर्ट कॉर्पोरेशन आणि जकात संकलक, मुंबई यांच्या विवादाप्रकरणी असा निकाल दिला होता की, कर सवलतीच्या तरतुदीत जर कुठे शंका उत्पन्न होत असल्यास ते करदात्याच्या पक्षात व्याख्यित (defined) झाले पाहिजे जे त्या सवलतीचा दावा करीत आहेत.

• अमेरिकेनी भारताला ‘धोरणात्मक व्यापार अधिकृतता श्रेणी-1’चा दर्जा देत भारताला उच्च तंत्रज्ञानावर आधारित उत्पादनांची विक्री करण्यासाठी त्याच्या निर्यात नियंत्रणात सुलभता आणली.
• अश्या प्रकारचा दर्जा अमेरिकेनी ऑस्ट्रेलिया, जपान आणि दक्षिण कोरिया अश्या आपल्या NATO समुहाच्या मित्रराष्ट्रांना दिलेला आहे. या मान्यतेमुळे संरक्षण क्षेत्रातल्या अधिक संवेदनशील तंत्रज्ञानाचे हस्तांतरण शक्य होणार.

काठमांडूत प्रथम 'नेपाळ-भारत थिंक टॅंक' परिषदेचा शुभारंभ

• 31 जुलै 2018 रोजी काठमांडू (नेपाळ) येथे आयोजित करण्यात आलेल्या प्रथम 'नेपाळ-भारत थिंक टॅंक' परिषदेचा शुभारंभ करण्यात आला आहे.
• परिषदेचे उद्घाटन नेपाळचे माजी पंतप्रधान पुष्प कमल डहाल (ऊर्फ ‘प्रचंडा’) यांच्या हस्ते करण्यात आले. दोन्ही देशांच्या वैचारिक संस्थांना विविध मुद्द्यांवर चर्चा करण्यासाठी हे एक व्यासपीठ ठरत आहे.  
• नेपाळ हा एक दक्षिण आशियाई देश आहे. नेपाळ हा हिमालय पर्वतराजीमध्ये वसलेला भूपरिवेष्टित देश आहे. काठमांडू नेपाळची राजधानी तर नेपाळी रुपया (NPR) हे राष्ट्रीय चलन आहे. उत्तरेला हिमालय पर्वतरांगा असून जगातल्या सर्वोच्च 10 पर्वतशिखरांमधील 8 नेपाळमध्ये आहेत. 8850 मीटर उंचीचे जगातले सर्वोच्च शिखर माउंट एव्हरेस्ट (सागरमाथा) नेपाळमध्ये आहे.

रोहींग्या लोकांचे शोषण झाल्या प्रकरणी चौकशी करण्यासाठी म्यानमारची स्वतंत्र आयोग समिती नियुक्त

• म्यानमार सरकारने रोहींग्या लोकांचे शोषण झाल्या प्रकरणी चौकशी करण्यासाठी एक स्वतंत्र आयोग समिती नेमली आहे.
• चार सदस्य असलेल्या या समितीचे नेतृत्व संयुक्त राष्ट्रसंघ मानवतावादी कल्याण (UNHA) याचे माजी उपमहासचिव केन्झो ओशिमा यांच्याकडे दिले गेले आहे.
• गेल्यावर्षी रोहिंग्या सशस्त्र गटाने पोलीस ठाण्यांवर केलेल्या हल्ल्याच्या घटनेनंतर झालेल्या संघर्षात म्यानमारच्या सुरक्षा दलांवर हत्याकांडाचा आरोप करण्यात आलेला आहे. तेव्हापासून सुमारे 700,000 रोहिंग्या मुस्लीम लोकांनी बांग्लादेशकडे स्थलांतरण केले.

अर्थव्यवस्था आणि बँकिंग

जून-18 मध्ये आठ प्रमुख उद्योगांचा वृद्धीदर 6.7% होता

• औद्योगिक उत्पादन निर्देशांकात समाविष्ट असलेल्या आठ प्रमुख उद्योगांचा वाटा 40.27% इतका आहे. आठ प्रमुख उद्योगांचा संयुक्त निर्देशांक जून 2018 मध्ये 129.8 इतका राहिला. जून 2017 च्या तुलनेत तो 6.7% नी अधिक आहे.
• एप्रिल ते जून 2018-19 मध्ये एकत्रित वाढ 5.2% होती. जून 2018 मध्ये आठ प्रमुख उद्योग - कोळशाचे उत्पादन (11.5% वाढ), कच्चे तेल (3.4% कमी), नैसर्गिक वायू (2.7% कमी), रिफायनरी उत्पादने (12% वाढ), पोलाद (4.4% वाढ), सिमेंट (13.2% वाढ), वीज (4% वाढ), खते (1% वाढ).

चीन, मलेशियातून होणार्‍या सोलर सेलच्या आयातीवर संरक्षण शुल्क लागू

• भारताने चीन आणि मलेशियातून होणार्‍या सोलर सेलच्या आयातीवर दोन वर्षाकरिता संरक्षण शुल्क लागू केला आहे.
• देशात मोठ्या प्रमाणात होत असलेल्या सोलर सेलच्या आयातीला नियंत्रित करून देशातल्या उद्योगाचे संरक्षण करण्याकरिता हा अधिशुल्क लादण्यात आला आहे. अधिसूचनेनुसार लागू केला जाणारा अधिक शुल्क –

क्रिडा

SAI क्रिडांगण ​​‘प्लास्टिक मुक्त क्षेत्र’ म्हणून घोषित केले जाणार

• केंद्रीय युवक कल्याण व क्रिडा मंत्रालय स्वच्छ भारत मोहिमेच्या अंतर्गत 1-15 ऑगस्ट 2018 या काळात स्वच्छता पंधरवाडा पाळत आहे.
• या उपक्रमाच्या पार्श्वभूमीवर सर्वप्रथम भारतीय क्रिडा प्राधिकरण (SAI) याच्या जवाहरलाल नेहरु क्रिडांगण, मेजर ध्यानचंद राष्ट्रीय क्रिडांगण, इंदिरा गांधी क्रिडांगण संकुल, डॉ. करणी सिंग शूटिंग रेंज आणि डॉ. एस.पी.एम. जलतरण तलाव संकुल या पाचही क्रिडांगणाला ​​‘प्लास्टिक मुक्त क्षेत्र’ म्हणून घोषित करण्यात येईल. हा उपक्रम 1 ऑगस्ट 2018 रोजी सुरू झाला आणि 2 ऑक्टोंबर 2018 पर्यंत क्रिडांगणाच्या परिसरात प्लास्टिकचा वापर रोखण्यासाठी पर्यायी सोयी-सुविधा उपलब्ध करून दिल्या जाणार आहेत.
• भारतीय क्रिडा प्राधिकरण (SAI) हे भारतातले सर्वोच्च राष्ट्रीय क्रिडा मंडळ आहे. याची 1984 साली युवक कल्याण व क्रिडा मंत्रालयाने स्थापना केली. याचे मुख्यालय दिल्ली येथे आहे. याची 9 प्रादेशिक केंद्रे तसेच नेताजी सुभाष राष्ट्रीय क्रिडा संस्था (NSNIS), पटीयाला आणि लक्ष्मीबाई राष्ट्रीय शारीरिक शिक्षण महाविद्यालय (LNCPE), तिरुवानंतपुरम (केरळ) या दोन शैक्षणिक संस्था आहेत.

मध्यप्रदेशाचा ‘शहीद सन्मान दिन’: 15 ऑगस्ट

• यावर्षीच्या स्वातंत्र्य दिनाच्या पूर्वसंध्येला मध्यप्रदेश राज्य शासन शहीदांच्या स्मृतीत ‘शहीद सन्मान दिन’ म्हणून पाळणार आहे.
• राज्य मंत्रिमंडळाच्या बैठकीत राज्यात 15 ऑगस्टला ‘शहीद सन्मान दिन’ पाळण्याचा निर्णय घेण्यात आला.

लष्कर-ए-तोयबाचा अब्दुल रेहमान अल-दाखील याला जागतिक दहशतवादी म्हणून अमेरिकेकडून घोषित

• अमेरिकेकडून लष्कर-ए-तोयबा या दहशतवादी संघटनेचा नेता अब्दुल रेहमान अल-दाखील याला जागतिक दहशतवादी म्हणून घोषित करण्यात आले आहे.
• भारतात 1997 आणि 2001 साली झालेल्या दहशतवादी कारवायांचा तो प्रमुख होता. 2018 साली तो लष्कर-ए-तोयबाचा वरिष्ठ कमांडर बनला आहे.
• सोबतच पाकिस्तानातल्या दहशतवादी संघटनांचे आर्थिक मदतकर्ते हमीद-उल-हसन आणि अब्दुल जब्बार यांना दोघांना "विशेष मान्यताप्राप्त जागतिक दहशतवादी" म्हणून घोषित केले गेले आहे.
