लोकसभा में भाजपा के नेतृत्व वाली एनडीए सरकार के खिलाफ पेश अविश्वास प्रस्ताव निर्णायक बहुमत से गिरा

• लोकसभा ने राष्ट्रीय जनतांत्रिक गठबंधन-एनडीए के पूर्व सहयोगी तेलुगुदेशम पार्टी द्वारा सरकार के खिलाफ रखा गया अविश्वास प्रस्ताव बड़े अंतर से रद्द कर दिया गया।
• प्रस्ताव के विरोध में एनडीए को 325 वोट मिले, जबकि प्रस्ताव के पक्ष में 126 सदस्यों ने मत दिया।
• आपको बता दें, इस मत विभाजन में विजय के लिये 226 से अधिक सांसदों को समर्थन की जरूरत थी।
• 2014 में सत्ता में आई नरेंद्र मोदी सरकार के खिलाफ यह पहला अविश्वास प्रस्ताव था।

प्रधानमंत्री ने श्रीलंका में भारत-सहायता आपातकालीन एम्बुलेंस सेवा शुरू की

• प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी ने 21 जुलाई 2018 को नई दिल्ली से वीडियो कॉन्फ्रेंसिंग के माध्यम से श्रीलंका के लिए देशव्यापी आपातकालीन एम्बुलेंस सेवा शुरू की।
• उद्घाटन समारोह श्रीलंका के उत्तरी प्रांत जाफना में हुआ, जहां के प्रधानमंत्री रणिल विक्रमेसिंघे अन्य गणमान्य व्यक्तियों के बीच उपस्थित थे।
• भारत ने पहले चरण के लिए 7.6 मिलियन डॉलर और देश भर में विस्तार के लिए 15.2 मिलियन डॉलर की मदद की है।
• इस दौरान, पहले चरण के तहत, दो प्रांतों के लिए 88 एम्बुलेंस खरीदे गए थे जबकि देश के सभी जिलों को कवर करने के लिए 209 एम्बुलेंस उपलब्ध कराए जा रहे हैं।
• आपको बता दें, यह भारतीय आवास परियोजना के बाद श्रीलंका में सबसे बड़ी भारतीय अनुदान परियोजना है।

30 सितंबर तक निर्माण श्रमिकों की कल्याण योजना को अंतिम रूप दें: एससी

• सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने देश भर में निर्माण और निर्माण श्रमिकों के लिए कल्याण योजना को अंतिम रूप देने के लिए केंद्र के लिए 30 सितंबर की समयसीमा निर्धारित की है।
• अदालत ने 20 जुलाई को सरकार को यह स्पष्ट कर दिया है कि आगे कोई समय नहीं दिया जाएगा, इसलिए 30 सितंबर योजना को अंतिम रूप दे दिया जाए, जिसमे उनके लिये शिक्षा, स्वास्थ्य, सामाजिक सुरक्षा और पेंशन जैसे मुद्दे शामिल हों।
• केंद्र सरकार द्वारा दायर एक हलफनामे में कहा गया है कि श्रम मंत्रालय की वेबसाइट पर मसौदा योजना अपलोड की गई है और 10 अगस्त तक राज्यों से सुझाव आमंत्रित किए गए हैं।
• आपको बता दें, शीर्ष अदालत भवन एवं अन्य निर्माण श्रमिक (रोजगार का नियमन और सेवा शर्ते) कानून, 1986 और भवन तथा अन्य निर्माण श्रमिक कल्याण उपकर कानून, 1996 पर अमल से संबंधित मामलों की सुनवाई कर रही है।

गृह मंत्री राजनाथ सिंह ने छात्र पुलिस कैडेट कार्यक्रम शुरू किया

• देश में छात्रों को बुनियादी कानून और पुलिस की कार्यप्रणाली के बारे में जानकारी देने के लिए केंद्र सरकार स्टूडेंट पुलिस कैडेट (एसपीसी) नामक नया कार्यक्रम शुरू किया
• इसका कार्यक्रम का आगाज 21 जुलाई को केंद्रीय गृह मंत्री राजनाथ सिंह ने गुड़गांव से किया। कार्यक्रम में मुख्यमंत्री मनोहर लाल भी उपस्थित रहेंगे।

          कार्यक्रम के बारे में

• यह कार्यक्रम 8वीं और 9वीं के छात्रों के लिए चलाया जाएगा।
• छात्रों को मानवता और सामाजिक गतिविधियों के साथ जोड़कर समाज के लिए उपयोगी नागरिक बनने का प्रशिक्षण दिया जाएगा।
• इसके लिए एक वार्षिक गतिविधि कैलेंडर बनाया जाएगा। कैडेटों के प्रशिक्षण का मूल्यांकन करने के बाद उन्हें प्रमाणपत्र दिए जाएंगे।

बिम्सटेक शिखर सम्मेलन काठमांडू में होगा आयोजित

• चौथा बिम्सटेक शिखर सम्मेलन काठमांडू में 30 से 31 अगस्त तक आयोजित किया जाएगा।
• नेपाल के विदेश मामलों के मंत्री प्रदीप कुमार ग्यावली ने कहा है कि कनेक्टिविटी और गरीबी उन्मूलन शिखर सम्मेलन की सर्वोच्च प्राथमिकता होगी।
• शिखर सम्मेलन का मुख्य फोकस सड़कों, वायुमार्गों और संचरण लाइनों सहित बिम्सटेक देशों के बीच कनेक्टिविटी बढ़ाने के लिए होगा।
• सदस्य देशों के बीच गरीबी उन्मूलन के लिए कुछ ठोस कदम उठाए जाएंगे।
• इस समूह का गठन 1997 में हुआ था और इसमें बांग्लादेश, भूटान, भारत, नेपाल, श्रीलंका, म्यांमार और थाईलैंड देश शामिल हैं।
• नेपाल बिम्सटेक की वर्तमान अध्यक्ष है।

आईओसी ने सदस्यता के लिए नौ उम्मीदवारों में अफगान महिला समीरा असघारी का नाम दिया

• अंतरराष्ट्रीय ओलंपिक समिति (आईओसी) के अध्यक्ष थॉमस बाच ने 20 जुलाई को एक युवा अफगान महिला समीरा असघारी को नामित किया ।
• महिलाओं के अधिकारों को बढ़ावा देने के लिए 24 वर्षीया समीरा असघारी नामित किया गया है ।
• असघारी ने अपने देश के लिए बास्केटबाल खेला है और प्रशासनिक भूमिकाओं की एक श्रृंखला ले ली है।
• थॉमस बाच ने कहा की ''वह असघारी अफगानिस्तान की एक युवा महिला है, जो अफगानिस्तान में महिलाओं के लिए खेल खेलने के अधिकार को बढ़ावा देने में बहुत सक्रिय है, आप सभी जानते हैं कि यह एक आसान काम नहीं है''।

          क्या था कारण

• थॉमस बाच ने कहा की इस नामांकन के साथ समिति न केवल अफगानिस्तान में पुरुषों और महिलाओं के लिए, बल्कि उन सभी देशों में जहां महिलाओं को खेल खेलने में बाधाएं आ रही हैं, उन सभी को एक संकेत भेजना चाहते थे।

एशियाई जूनियर महिला कुश्ती चैंपियनशिप: मानसी को रजत, स्वाती को कांस्य

• भारत की मानसी ने नई दिल्ली में खेली जा रही एशियन जूनियर महिला कुश्ती चैंपियनशिप में 20 जुलाई को रजत पदक जीता, वहीं स्वाती कांस्य पदक जीतने में सफल रहीं।
• 57 किलोग्राम भारवर्ग में जापान की एकेई हनाई ने मानसी को एकतरफा मुकाबले में 10-0 से मात दिया।
• उधर 53 किलोग्राम भारवर्ग में स्वाती ने कांस्य पदक के मुकाबले में थाइलैंड की डुआनग्नापा बूनायुसू को 10-0 से परास्त कर पदक अपने नाम किया।

डरबन में 8वें ब्रिक्स स्वास्थ्य मंत्रियों की बैठक

• दक्षिण अफ्रीका के डरबन में 20 जुलाई को ब्रिक्स के स्वास्थ्य मंत्रियों की 8वीं बैठक का आयोजन किया गया, इस बैठक में केंद्रीय स्वास्थ्य मंत्री जेपी नड्डा ने शिरकत की ।
• बैठक में जेपी नड्डा ने कहा कि स्वास्थ्य देखभाल को बेहतर बनाने के लिए यह आवश्यक है कि क्षयरोगियों को सस्ते, गुणवत्तापूर्ण, प्रभावी व सुरक्षित दवाएं, टीके और जांच तक आसान पहुंच हो, केंद्रीय स्वास्थ्य मंत्री ने जोर देते हुए कहा कि भारत 2025 तक क्षय रोग को समाप्त करने के लिए प्रतिबद्ध है।
• अपने संबोधन में नड्डा ने कहा कि भारत राष्ट्रीय स्वास्थ्य नीति में व्यक्त सार्वभौमिक स्वास्थ्य कवरेज (यूएचसी) को प्राप्त करने के लिए प्रतिबद्ध है।
• भारत ने सार्वभौमिक स्वास्थ्य कवरेज (यूएचसी) के विभिन्न आयामों को प्राप्त करने में तेजी दिखाई है, जैसे स्वास्थ्य प्रणालियों को मजबूत करना, दवा और जांच को नि:शुल्क करना और स्वास्थ्य देखभाल के खर्च को कम करना।

इसरो अपने 27 उपग्रह दूसरी कंपनियों से बनवाएगा

• भारतीय अंतरिक्ष अनुसंधान संगठन (इसरो) ने बैंगलोर स्थित अल्फा डिजाइन टेक्नोलॉजीज के नेतृत्व में एक निजी क्षेत्र के साथ तीन साल के समझौते पर हस्ताक्षर किए हैं।
• इस समझौते में शामिल अल्फा डिज़ाइन कंसोर्टियम (यह छह कंपनियों का समूह है), टाटा एडवांस्ट सिस्टम लिमिटेड निजी क्षेत्र की हैं. जबकि भारत इलेक्ट्रॉनिक लिमिटेड (बीईएल) सार्वजनिक क्षेत्र की कंपनी है।
• तीनों ही अगले तीन साल तक हर साल तीन-तीन उपग्रह बनाकर इसरो को देंगी।
• आपको बता दें, की भारत कुछ अंतरिक्ष-उन्मुख राष्ट्रों में से एक है जिसमें स्वदेशी निर्मित लॉन्च वाहनों का उपयोग करके अत्याधुनिक उपग्रहों को डिजाइन, विकसित और लॉन्च करने की क्षमता है।

BJP led NDA govt wins No Confidence motion in Lok Sabha

• After a raging 12-hour debate, the Narendra Modi-led NDA government defeated the no-confidence motion in the Lok Sabha by 199 votes.
• While 126 members supported the motion, 325 MPs rejected it. The day-long session in the Lower House saw the government and the Opposition trade charges and a moment of drama when Congress president Rahul Gandhi, after a blistering speech, walk over to Prime Minister and embrace him in a hug.
• This no-confidence motion, the 27th in Parliamentary history, was the first to be admitted in 15 years. The last was in 2003 when the Congress party moved a no-confidence motion against prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
• What is no confidence Motion:
• A motion of no-confidence(non-confidence motion) (alternatively vote of no confidence, no-confidence motion, or (unsuccessful) confidence motion) - is a statement or vote which states that a person(s) in a position of responsibility (government, managerial, etc.) is no longer deemed fit to hold that position, perhaps because they are inadequate in some respect, are failing to carry out obligations, or are making decisions that other members feel detrimental.

Prime Minister launches India-assisted emergency ambulance service in Sri Lanka

• Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch the country-wide Emergency Ambulance service for Sri Lanka through video conferencing from New Delhi.
• The service was introduced in two provinces of Sri Lanka with grant assistance from India and will be expanded to the remaining seven provinces
• The inaugural function will be held in Jaffna of the northern province where Sri Lankan Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe will be present among other dignitaries.
• India has given a grant of 22.8 million US dollars - 7.6 million in the first phase - and 15.2 million for the country-wide expansion.
• Under the first phase, 88 ambulances were purchased for the two provinces, while another 209 ambulances are being provided to cover all districts in the country.
• This is the largest Indian grant project in Sri Lanka after Indian housing project. Apart from providing ambulances, the grant covers training of manpower in India and meeting operational costs for one year. The project is another milestone in the wide raging development partnership between India and Sri Lanka.
• India's development portfolio in Sri Lanka is nearly 2.9 billion US dollars, out of which 545 million dollars is pure grants.

Finalise construction workers' welfare scheme by Sept 30: SC to Centre

• The Supreme Court set the deadline of September 30 for the Centre to finalise a welfare scheme for building and construction workers across the country.
• A bench comprising justices Madan B Lokur and Deepak Gupta made it clear to the government that "no further time" would be granted to it for finalising the welfare scheme.
• The counsel appearing for the Centre referred to an affidavit filed by the government which has said that a draft scheme has been uploaded on the website of the labour ministry and suggestions have been invited from the states till August 10.
• The Centre told the apex court that others could also give their suggestion on the draft scheme till August 30 and the scheme would be finalised by September 30.
• The court is hearing a matter related to implementation of two laws -- the Building and Other Construction Workers (Regulation of Employment and Conditions of Service) Act, 1996 (BOCW Act) and the Building and Other Construction Workers' Welfare Cess Act, 1996, (Cess Act) -- meant for welfare of construction workers across the country.
• Cess- A cess imposed by the central government is a tax on tax, levied by the government for a specific purpose

Home Minister Rajnath Singh to launch Student Police Cadet programme

• Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh will launch the national Student Police Cadet (SPC) programme at Tau Devi Lal Stadium in Gurugram
• Students of Classes VIII and IX are the target of this programme.
• The programme envisions a humane and just society, where citizens respect and follow laws, practise responsible behaviour, demonstrate empathy for weaker sections of society and participate in tackling community issues.
• There is a paradigm shift in policing function from enforcement to facilitation of law. So the aim is to incorporate civic sense, social responsibility and inclusiveness in the youth, besides solving problems of contemporary youth.
• As part of the programme, the teachers will act as community police officers (CPOs) and additional CPOs, who will be trained by the police.
• An annual activity calendar will be prepared for this with periodic monitoring. The training programme will include study classes, physical training, field visits, camps and practical projects.
• Students will study about the law and Constitution, communication skills, disaster management, and health and hygiene. Summer and mini camps will be organised at the district and State levels.
• Yoga, cross-country march and parade will be part of the physical training curriculum. Cadets will be given certificates based on evaluation of their performance.
• The STUDENT POLICE CADET (SPC) is a school-based youth development initiative that trains high school students to evolve as future leaders of a democratic society by inculcating within them respect for the law, discipline, civic sense, empathy for vulnerable sections of society and resistance to social evils.

Israel, Hamas agree to restore calm in Gaza Strip

• Palestinian gunmen killed an Israeli soldier along the Gaza border and the Israeli military launched dozens of strikes into the Strip that killed four Palestinians, including three Hamas fighters. At least 120 Gazans were wounded.
• During the flare-up which lasted several hours, the Israeli military said its tanks had hit 68 Hamas targets and had “eliminated about 60 buildings and infrastructures and revoked significant military and command and control capabilities.”
• What is Gaza Strip ?
• Gaza is a densely populated strip of land that is mostly surrounded by Israel. Egypt controlled Gaza until 1967, when Israel occupied it (along with the West Bank) in the Six-Day War.

Colombia's Santos urges peace as FARC take seats in Congress

• Colombian former FARC guerrillas took their seats in Congress as part of an agreement that ended five decades of war, and outgoing President Juan Manuel Santos urged the nation to protect the nascent peace and put an end to violence.
• At the opening of the new Congress, one-time fighters for the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) filed into the lower house where they prepared to be sworn in collectively along with other members of the two chambers.
• Under the terms of the 2016 peace deal between the FARC and the government, the group formed a political party, kept its famous acronym as the Revolutionary Alternative Common Force, and was awarded five seats each in the 108-member Senate and the 172-member lower house through 2026.
• Santos, who won a Nobel Peace prize for his efforts to end the war, in his final address to Congress before leaving office on Aug. 7.

4th BIMSTEC Summit to be held in Kathmandu on 30 August

• 4th BIMSTEC Summit will be held in Kathmandu from 30 to 31 August.
• Nepal's Minister for Foreign Affairs Pradeep Kumar Gyawali has said that connectivity and poverty alleviation will be top priority of the summit.
• The Bay of Bengal Initiatives for Multi-Sectoral, Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC) is a regional economic bloc comprising seven member states lying in the littoral and adjacent areas of the Bay of Bengal constituting a contiguous regional unity.
• The group was formed in 1997 and it brings together Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Myanmar and Thailand.
• Nepal is the current chair of BIMSTEC.
• The permanent secretariat is in Dhaka.

Australia announces plans to explore concepts to save Great Barrier Reef

• Australia announced plans to explore concepts such as firing salt into clouds and covering swathes of water with a thin layer of film in a bid to save the embattled Great Barrier Reef.
• The UNESCO World Heritage-listed reef, about the size of Japan or Italy, is reeling from two straight years of bleaching as sea temperatures rise because of climate change.
• Canberra in January offered US$1.5 million to attract innovative ideas to protect the site, which is also under pressure from farming runoff, development and the predatory crown-of-thorns starfish.
• Six schemes selected out of a total of 69 submissions will be tested to see if they are feasible. One selected concept is cloud brightening where salt crystals harvested from seawater are fired into clouds, making them more reflective and therefore deflecting solar rays back into space.
• Another idea was a biodegradable "sun shield", where an ultra-thin film containing light-reflecting particles covers some reef waters to protect corals from heat stress.
• Other short-listed projects include mass producing coral larvae with the aid of 3D-printed surfaces to support new growth, and large-scale harvesting and relocation of larvae.
• Experts have warned that the 2,300-kilometre long area could have suffered irreparable damage.
• The Great Barrier Reef -  off the coast of Queensland in northeastern Australia, is the largest living thing on Earth, and even visible from outer space. The 2,300km-long ecosystem comprises thousands of reefs and hundreds of islands made of over 600 types of hard and soft coral.

IOC names Afghan woman Samira Asghari among nine candidates for membership

• The International Olympic Committee named a young Afghan woman, Samira Asghari, among nine candidates for membership of the body in a move to boost women's rights.
• Thomas Bach, the IOC president, said the nomination of the 24-year-old Asghari, who played basketball for her country and has taken on a series of administrative roles, sent a message.
• Five of the nine candidates due to be voted in October are "Individual Members" proposed by a special committee, three of which are women.
• The other four represent either National Olympic Committees (NOCs) or international sports federations (IF) which are entitled to representation, of which all four are men.
• The two other women are Daina Gudzineviciute, president of the Lithuanian Olympic Committee, and Felicite Rwemarika, vice president of the Rwanda's Olympic committee.

Mansi settles for silver, Swati claims bronze at Junior Asian Wrestling in New Delhi

• India bagged a Silver and a Bronze medal in Women's Freestyle Wrestling at the Junior Asian Championships in New Delhi.
• In the 57 kilogram category, Mansi had to settle for a Silver after she lost to Japan's Akie Hanai in the Final.
• The Bronze medal was won by Swati in the 53 kg division.

• The ‘8th BRICS Health Ministers’ Meeting started at Durban, South Africa.
• India is committed to eliminating TB by 2025.
• The accomplishments of India in the health sector,India’s achievement in reducing the maternal mortality ratio (MMR) by 77%, from 556 per 100000 live births in 1990 to 130 per 100 000 live births in 2016.

ISRO ropes in three partners to assemble 27 satellites

• Each partner will work with the URSC to produce three small to medium satellites each year.
• The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has roped in three partners to help it assemble 27 satellites at a quick pace over the next three years.

• About 50 members from each partner will separately work with URSC engineers to complete the project.
• A URSC official signed the agreements with the three entities in the presence of URSC Director M. Annadurai.

• संपूर्ण देशातल्या बांधकाम क्षेत्रातल्या कामगारांसाठी कल्याणकारी योजनेला अंतिम स्वरूप देण्यासाठी सर्वोच्च न्यायालयाने केंद्र शासनाला 30 सप्टेंबरपर्यंतची मुदत दिली आहे.
• श्रम मंत्रालयाने आपल्या संकेतस्थळावर योजनेचा मसुदा प्रसिद्ध केला आहे आणि 10 ऑगस्टपर्यंत राज्यांकडून त्यांच्या शिफारसी मागविण्यात आली आहे.

• पंतप्रधान नरेंद्र मोदी यांच्या हस्ते 21 जुलै 2018 रोजी नवी दिल्लीतून व्हिडिओ कॉन्फरन्सिंगद्वारे भारताच्या मदतीने श्रीलंकेत राष्ट्रव्यापी आपत्कालीन रुग्ण सेवेचे उद्घाटन करण्यात आले आहे.
• सुरूवातीला ही सेवा श्रीलंकाच्या दोन प्रांतांमध्ये सुरु करण्यात आली आहे आणि उर्वरित सात प्रांतांमध्ये ही सेवा विस्तारित केली जाईल. यासाठी भारताकडून दोन टप्प्यात एकूण US$ 22.8 दशलक्ष इतकी मदत दिली गेली आहे.

30 ऑगस्ट रोजी काठमांडूत BIMSTEC शिखर परिषदेचे आयोजन

• चौथी BIMSTEC शिखर परिषद नेपाळची राजधानी काठमांडूमध्ये 30-31 ऑगस्ट या कालावधीत आयोजित करण्यात आली आहे. ही परिषद सदस्य देशांमध्ये संपर्क यंत्रणा आणि दारिद्र्य निर्मूलन या विषयांवर केंद्रीत असेल.
• बहूक्षेत्रीय, तांत्रिक व आर्थिक सहकार्यासाठी बंगालचा उपसागर पुढाकार (BIMSTEC) हा एक क्षेत्रीय आर्थिक भाग आहे, ज्यामध्ये बंगालच्या उपसागरालगत असलेल्या बांग्लादेश, भूटान भारत, नेपाळ, श्रीलंका, म्यानमार आणि थायलंड या सात देशांचा समावेश आहे. हा समूह 1997 साली तयार करण्यात आला. नेपाळ हे समूहाचे विद्यमान अध्यक्ष आहेत.

ग्रेट बॅरिअर रीफच्या जतनासाठी कल्पना शोधण्यासाठी ऑस्ट्रेलियाची नवी योजना

• धोक्यात आलेल्या ग्रेट बॅरिअर रीफचा बचाव करण्यासाठी उपयोगात आणल्या जाऊ शकणार्‍या नवनव्या कल्पना शोधण्यासाठी ऑस्ट्रेलियाने एक योजना तयार केलेली आहे.
• ऑस्ट्रेलियाच्या योजनेमध्ये नवनव्या कल्पना समाविष्ट आहेत, जसे की ढगांमध्ये क्षार सोडणे, उष्णता रोखण्यासाठी नैसर्गिकरित्या विघटित होणारी पातळ "सन शील्ड" रीफवर चढवणे, 3D-प्रिंटेड पृष्ठभागांच्या मदतीने नववाढीसाठी कोरल लार्व्हाचे (पिल्लं) मोठ्या प्रमाणात उत्पादन आणि लार्व्हाची पुनर्स्थापना करणे आणि अन्य.
• ग्रेट बॅरिअर रीफ हे पूर्वेकडे प्रशांत महासागरात तयार झालेले नैसर्गिक आश्चर्य आहे. UNESCOच्या जागतिक वारसा सूचीत सूचीबद्ध असलेल्या ग्रेट बॅरिअर रीफचा आकार जपान किंवा इटलीच्या आकाराएवढा आहे. हे 2,300 किलोमीटर लांबीच्या क्षेत्रफळात पसरलेले नैसर्गिक क्षेत्र आहे.  

डर्बनमध्ये BRICSच्या आरोग्य मंत्र्यांची 8वी बैठक संपन्न

• 20 जुलै 2018 रोजी दक्षिण आफ्रिकेच्या डर्बन शहरात BRICS देशांच्या आरोग्य मंत्र्यांची 8वी बैठक पार पडली.
• BRICS हा ब्राझील, रशिया, इंडिया, चीन आणि साऊथ आफ्रिका या पाच राष्ट्रांचा समूह आहे. 2011 मध्ये BRIC समुहात दक्षिण आफ्रिकेचा समावेश करण्यात आला आणि समूहाला BRICS नाव दिले गेले. 2006 साली या समूहाची स्थापना करण्यात आली. 2009 सालापासून BRICS राष्ट्रे औपचारिक परिषदेत दरवर्षी भेट घेतात.

कनिष्ठ आशियाई कुस्ती स्पर्धेत स्वातीचे कांस्यपदक

• नवी दिल्लीत सुरू असलेल्या कनिष्ठ आशियाई कुस्ती अजिंक्यपद 2018 या स्पर्धेत महिलांच्या फ्रीस्टाइल कुस्ती स्पर्धेत भारताला एक रौप्य आणि एक कांस्यपदक मिळाले.
• 57 किलो गटात जपानच्या अकी हानई हिच्याकडून पराभूत झाल्यानंतर मानसीने रौप्यपदक पटकवले आणि 53 किलो गटात स्वातीने कांस्यपदक जिंकले. याशिवाय आतापर्यंत भारताने एक रौप्य (दिव्या काक्रन, 68 किलो), दोन कांस्य (रीना, 76 किलो आणि करुणा, 55 किलो) कमावले.

विज्ञान आणि पर्यावरण

27 उपग्रह तयार करण्यासाठी ISRO आणि त्याचे तीन भागीदार सज्ज

• ISROच्या यू. आर. राव उपग्रह केंद्राने (URSC-ISRO) उपग्रहांची बांधणी करण्यामध्ये भारतीय उद्योगाचा सहभाग वाढविण्यासाठी पुढील तीन संस्थांसोबत करार केला –
  
  • अल्फा टेक्नॉलॉजिस प्रा. लि., बंगळुरू
  • भारत इलेक्ट्रॉनिक्स लिमिटेड, बंगळुरू
  • टाटा अॅडव्हान्स सिस्टीम्स लिमिटेड, हैद्राबाद

• भारतीय अंतराळ संशोधन संस्थेनी (ISRO) त्याच्या स्पेसक्राफ्ट असेम्ब्ली इंटिग्रेशन अँड टेस्टिंग (AIT) उपक्रमासाठी बाह्य मदत घेण्यासाठी तीन भागीदारांसोबत करार केला आहे. करारांतर्गत हे भागीदार पुढील तीन वर्षांमध्ये सुमारे 27 उपग्रहांची बांधणी करण्यास मदत करणार आहेत.

अफगाणिस्तानच्या समीरा असघरी यांना IOCचे सभासदत्व मिळाले

• आंतरराष्ट्रीय ऑलंपिक समितीने (IOC) नऊ उमेदवारांना मंडळाचे सभासदत्व बहाल केले आहे, ज्यात अफगाणिस्तानच्या 24 वर्षीय समीरा असघरी या तरुण महिलेचा समावेश आहे.
• स्त्री-पुरुष समानतेला प्रोत्साहन देण्याच्या प्रयत्नात बास्केटबॉलपटू असघरीचे नामांकन स्वीकारण्यात आले. अफगाणिस्तानात महिलांच्या खेळ खेळण्याचा अधिकारासाठी त्या सातत्याने झटत आहे.
• 6 पुरुष आणि 3 महिला अश्या एकूण नऊ जणांपैकी पाच "वैयक्तिक सदस्य" आहेत, तर अन्य चार राष्ट्रीय ऑलंपिक समिती (NOCs) किंवा आंतरराष्ट्रीय क्रिडा महासंघ (IF) यांचे प्रतिनिधित्व करतात.
• आंतरराष्ट्रीय ऑलंपिक समिती (IOC) हे जागतिक ऑलंपिक चळवळीचे सर्वोच्च प्राधिकरण आहे. स्वित्झर्लंडमधील लुसाने येथे याचे मुख्यालय आहे. IOC ची निर्मिती पिअरे डी कौर्बर्टिन यांनी 23 जून 1894 रोजी केली आणि डेमेट्रीओस विकेलस यांची प्रथम अध्यक्ष म्हणून नियुक्ती केली. याचे 105 सक्रिय सदस्य, 32 मानद सदस्य, 2 प्रतिष्ठित सदस्य (सेनेगल आणि अमेरिका) आहेत.
