केंद्र सरकार ने एक प्रत्याशी के दो सीटों से चुनाव लड़ने का सुप्रीम कोर्ट में समर्थन किया

          क्या था मामला

• केंद्र सरकार ने सुप्रीम कोर्ट से कहा है कि एक उम्मीदवार को दो लोकसभा या विधानसभा सीटों पर चुनाव लड़ने की इजाजत देने का नियम जायज है।
• केंद्र सरकार ने हलफनामा दायर कर जन प्रतिनिधि कानून की धारा-33 (7) को सही बताया है। वहीं, चुनाव आयोग का कहना है कि एक उम्मीदवार को एक से अधिक सीटों पर लड़ने की इजाजत देने का प्रावधान सही नहीं है।
• सरकार ने अपनी दलील में कहा कि जनप्रतिनिधि कानून उम्मीदवार को एक से अधिक सीटों पर चुनाव लड़ने की अनुमति देता है। इस प्रावधान में संशोधन करना उम्मीदवारों के अधिकारों का हनन होगा।

          क्या कहते हैं नियम

• जनप्रतिनिधि अधिनियम, 1951 की धारा 33 (7), एक व्यक्ति को आम चुनाव या उप-चुनावों में एक या दो निर्वाचन क्षेत्रों से चुनाव लड़ने की अनुमति देता है, जबकि अधिनियम की धारा 70, निर्दिष्ट करती है कि यदि कोई व्यक्ति संसद के सदन में या राज्य विधानमंडल के सदन में एक से अधिक सीटों पर चुना गया, तो वह चुनाव में जीती सीटों में से केवल एक ही रख सकता है।

• दरअसल भाजपा प्रवक्ता व वकील अश्विनी उपाध्याय ने सुप्रीम कोर्ट में याचिका दाखिल की है कि जन प्रतिनिधित्व कानून अधिनियम की धारा-33 (7) के तहत प्रावधान है कि एक उम्मीदवार दो सीटों से चुनाव लड़ सकता है।
• वहीं धारा-70 कहती है कि दो सीटों से चुनाव लड़ने के बाद अगर उम्मीदवार दोनों सीटों पर विजयी रहता है तो उसे एक सीट से इस्तीफा देना होगा क्योंकि वो एक सीट ही अपने पास रख सकता है।

एलआईसी बोर्ड ने आईडीबीआई बैंक में 51% हिस्सेदारी के अधिग्रहण को मंजूरी दी

• आर्थिक मामलों के सचिव एस सी गर्ग ने यह बताया की भारतीय जीवन बीमा निगम (एलआईसी) को सार्वजनिक क्षेत्र के आईडीबीआई बैंक में तरजीही शेयरों के जरिये 51 प्रतिशत हिस्सेदारी के अधिग्रहण के लिए निदेशक मंडल की मंजूरी मिल गई है।
• एलआईसी द्वारा हिस्सेदारी खरीदने से कर्ज के बोझ से दबे बैंक को करीब 10,000 करोड़ से 13,000 करोड़ रुपये का पूंजी समर्थन मिलेगा।
• बहुलांश हिस्सेदारी के अधिग्रहण के बाद एलआईसी बैंक के निदेशक मंडल में कम से कम चार सदस्यों की नियुक्ति कर सकेगी।

          क्या पड़ेगा असर

• एलआईसी को करीब 2,000 शाखाएं उपलब्ध होंगी जिनके जरिये वह अपने उत्पाद बेच सकेगी।
• वहीं बैंक को एलआईसी से भारी कोष मिलेगा इस सौदे से बैंक को करीब 22 करोड़ पालिसीधारकों के खाते और कोष का प्रवाह मिलेगा।
• एक बार यह सौदा पूरा हो जाने के बाद भारी गैर निष्पादित आस्तियों (एनपीए) के बोझ से दबे बैंक को बेहद जरूरी पूंजीगत समर्थन मिल सकेगा।
• आर्थिक मामलों के सचिव एस सी गर्ग ने कहा है कि भारतीय जीवनबीमा निगम के निदेशक मंडल ने आईडीबीआई बैंक की 51 प्रतिशत हिस्सेदारी के अधिग्रहण प्रस्तावको मंजूरी दे दी है।

बीबीसी : पहली गुजराती भाषा टेलीविजन समाचार बुलेटिन लॉन्च

• बीबीसी वर्ल्ड सर्विस ने अपनी पहली गुजराती भाषा टेलीविजन समाचार बुलेटिन लॉन्च की है।
• 'बीबीसी समाचार' को दिल्ली से सप्ताह में पांच दिन लाइव प्रसारित किया जाएगा और ब्रॉडकास्टर के साझेदार स्टेशन यानी 'जीएसटीवी' पर 8 बजे प्रसारित किया जाएगा।
• यह लॉन्च बीबीसी वर्ल्ड सर्विस विस्तार का एक हिस्सा है, आपको बता दें, बीबीसी ने पिछले 12 महीनों में दुनियाभर में 12 नई भाषाओँ में सेवाएं लॉन्च की हैं।
• इसके अतिरिक्त भारत में चार नई भाषाओँ में ऑनलाइन सेवा लॉन्च की गई हैं, यह चारो भाषाएं हैं -गुजराती, मराठी, पंजाबी और तेलुगू।

ब्रह्मोस सुपरसोनिक क्रूज मिसाइल का हुआ सफल परीक्षण

• दुनिया की सबसे तेज सुपरसोनिक मिसाइल ब्रह्मोस का 16 जुलाई को एक बार फिर सफल परीक्षण किया गया है।
• इस सुपरसोनिक मिसाइल का परीक्षण सुबह 10 बजकर 18 मिनट पर ओडिशा में किया गया और इसकी खास बात है कि इस परीक्षण को खराब मौसम में किया गया। बालासोरी ओडिशा के चांदीपुर टेस्‍ट रेंज पैड नंबर 3 से मिसाइल को छोड़ा गया
• इसी साल 21 मई और 22 मई को ब्रह्मोस मिसाइल के दो परीक्षण किए गए थे। इनमें ‘मेक इन इंडिया’ के तहत स्वदेश विकसित प्रमुख सब-सिस्टम का परीक्षण भी हुआ था। उस दौरान डीआरडीओ ने ब्रह्मोस मिसाइल की आयु सीमा 10 से 15 साल तक बढ़ाने के बाद परीक्षण किया था।

          ब्रह्मोस के बारे में

• ब्रह्मोस डीआरडीओ और रूस की एनपीओएम का एक संयुक्त उपक्रम है। यह मिसाइल भारतीय सेना, नौसेना और वायुसेना में शामिल की जा चुकी है।
• सुपरसोनिक ब्रह्मोस 290 किमी तक के क्षेत्र को कवर करेगी। यह मिसाइल कम समय में अपने लक्ष्य को भेदने में सक्षम बताई जा रही है।
• यह मिसाइल अवरोधक का भी काम करेगी।

300 संचार उपग्रहों का प्रक्षेपण करेगा चीन

• दुनियाभर में संचार सेवाएं मुहैया कराने के लिए चीन ने 300 ‘लो ऑर्बिट’ उपग्रहों का प्रक्षेपण करने की योजना बनाई है।
• इन 300 उपग्रहों में से पहली सीरीज इस साल के अंत में प्रक्षेपित की जाएगी।
• इसका नाम ‘होंगयान’ उपग्रह समूह है।

          क्या होगा असर

• इन उपग्रहों से मजबूत सिग्नल मिलेंगे साथ ही चीन को आपदा राहत कार्यों में बड़ी मदद मिलेगी।  

पेरू ने कोलंबिया सीमा पर आपातकाल घोषित किया

• पेरू ने मादक पदार्थों की तस्करी से जूझ रहे क्षेत्रों में शांति स्थापना के मद्देनजर कोलंबिया से लगी अपनी सीमा पर 60 दिन का आपातकाल घोषित किया है।
• राष्ट्रपति मार्टिन विजकर ने कहा कि यह उपाय सीमा पार से आने वाले कोलंबियाई नागरिकों द्वारा उत्पन्न सुरक्षा समस्याओं के कारण किया गया है।

          जानें कारण

• मादक पदार्थों की तस्करी के लिए चलाए गए एक अभियान के तहत 50 से अधिक लोगों को गिरफ्तार किया गया है, जिसमें से ज्यादातर कोलंबियाई नागरिक थे।

8वें भारत-ओमान संयुक्त आयोग की बैठक मस्कट में शुरू

• वाणिज्य एवं उद्योग तथा नागरिक उड्डयन मंत्री सुरेश प्रभु ने मस्कट में ओमान के उद्योग, निवेश, व्यापार एवं डिजिटल अर्थव्यवस्था मंत्री डॉ. अली बिन मसूद अल सुनैदी के साथ भारत-ओमान संयुक्त आयोग की बैठक के 8वें सत्र की सह-अध्यक्षता की।
• संयुक्त आयोग को संबोधित करते हुए सुरेश प्रभु ने ओमानी कंपनियों को भारत में निवेश करने और ‘मेक इन इंडिया’ और ‘इंवेस्ट इंडिया’ कार्यक्रमों से लाभ उठाने के लिए आमंत्रित किया।
• संयुक्त आयोग की बैठक में अंतरिक्ष, नवीकरणीय ऊर्जा, स्टार्ट अप, लघु एवं मध्यम उपक्रमों, खाद्य सुरक्षा, सेवा क्षेत्र, पर्यटन क्षेत्र इत्यादि विषयों पर चर्चा की गई।

खदानों के क्लस्टर से कोयले की ढुलाई के लिए महाजेनको पाइप कन्वेयर सिस्टम का उद्घाटन

• केंद्रीय रेल, वित्त, कॉरपोरेट एवं कोयला मंत्री पीयूष गोयल ने वेस्टर्न कोलफील्ड्स लिमिटेड (डब्ल्यूसीएल) की खदानों के क्लस्टर से कोयले की ढुलाई के लिए आज महाजेनको पाइप कन्वेयर सिस्टम का उद्घाटन किया।
• इस परियोजना का काम दो चरणों में किया जा रहा है।

          क्या होगा फायदा

• इस परियोजना के पूरा हो जाने पर सड़क मार्ग से कोयले की ढुलाई करने का काम रोक दिया जाएगा और डब्ल्यूसीएल की इन खदानों में उत्पादित होने वाले शत-प्रतिशत कोयले की ढुलाई कोराडी और खापरखेदा कोल पाइप कन्वेयर के जरिए ही होगा।
• इससे सड़क परिवहन के जरिए पर्यावरण पर होने वाले असर को कम करने में काफी मदद मिलेगी क्योंकि इसमें कोयले की बिखरी हुई धूल की कोई समस्या नहीं रहेगी। इसके साथ ही वाहनों से होने वाला प्रदूषण भी इसकी बदौलत कम हो जाएगा।

भारतीय महिला क्रिकेट के अंतरिम कोच बने रमेश पोवार

• पोवार को महिला टीम का अंतरिम कोच नियुक्त किया गया है। हाल ही महिला टीम की सीनियर खिलाड़ियों ने मौजूदा कोच तुषार अरोठे को हटाए जाने की मांग की थी जिसके चलते उन्हें इस पद से इस्तीफा देना पड़ा।
• पोवार महिला टीम के कोच तुषार अरोठे की जगह लेंगे।
• 40 साल के पोवार ने भारत के लिये सर्फ दो टेस्ट मैच खेले हैं, जिसमें उन्होंने छह विकेट निकाले हैं। वहीं वनडे में 31 मैचों में उनके नाम 34 विकेट हैं। हालांकि फर्स्ट क्लास क्रिकेट में उनके आंकड़े काबिलेतारीफ रहे हैं। पोवार ने प्रथम श्रेणी में 148 मैचों में 470 विकेट हासिल किए।
• मुंबई के पोवार को बीसीसीआई ने अरोठे की जगह अंतरिम कोच पद के लिये काफी कम समय में नियुक्त किया है।

PIL in top court for barring candidates from contesting election from more than one constituency  

• The Centre has opposed in the Supreme Court a PIL for barring candidates from contesting from more than one constituency in a general election.
• In an affidavit, filed by Deputy Secretary with the Ministry of Law and Justice, KK Saxena, the government said, the plea failed to establish that fundamental rights of citizens were being infringed upon in any way.
• The affidavit, which would be considered by a bench headed by Chief Justice Dipak Misra, said a person has been allowed under the Representative of Peoples Act to contest election from two constituencies simultaneously and the law has to be amended for disallowing the same.
• The PIL, filed by BJP leader Ashwani Upadhyay, had sought directions to the authorities to take appropriate steps to discourage independent candidates from contesting Parliamentary and state Assembly elections as suggested by the National Commission to Review the Working of the Constitution.
• Background :
• Art.326 of the Indian Constitution guarantees Universal adult suffrage to all Indian Citizens.
• The same has been re-iterated in Section 62 of Representation of People Act, 1951. Principle of equality and non discrimination were in the minds of the makers.

LIC board approves acquisition of up to 51% stake in IDBI Bank

• LIC’s stake buy will help the debt-ridden state-owned bank get a capital support of ₹10,000- 13,000 crore.
• The board of Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) of India has approved the proposal to buy 51% shares in the state-run IDBI Bank on Monday, paving the way for stake sale in the cash-strapped lender.
• The LIC board has approved the proposal to buy 51% share in IDBI Bank.
• The IDBI Bank’s financial health has deteriorated with yearly loss widening to ₹8,238 crore in FY18 from ₹5,158 crore in FY17.
• Its gross non-performing assets at the end of March was 27.95% of advances. The lender is under the prompt corrective action framework of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI).
• While LIC holds 8% stake in the IDBI Bank, the government holds about 86% and has been trying to shed stake in the beleaguered bank for about two years now. Since public holding is low, an open offer to minority shareholders is not material in this context.
• Open offer may or may not come about because public shareholding is very small, only about 5%. And the pricing formula may not be too attractive. But they will go through that process if necessary.
• According to the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) regulations, any company that acquires 25% stake in a listed entity has to make an open offer to acquire 26% additional stake from the public shareholders.
• Last month, insurance regulator IRDAI had cleared LIC’s proposal to pick up up 51% stake in the IDBI Bank.
• The next step for the deal would be to secure approvals from the IDBI Bank board and the government.
• Background:
• The Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI) is an autonomous, statutory body tasked with regulating and promoting the insurance and re-insurance industries in India.
• It was constituted by the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority Act, 1999,an Act of Parliament passed by the Government of India.The agency's headquarters are in Hyderabad, Telangana, where it moved from Delhi in 2001.
• IRDAI is a 10-member body including the chairman, five full-time and four part-time members appointed by the government of India.

BBC World Service launches its first Gujarati language television news bulletin

• The BBC World Service launched its first Gujarati language television news bulletin as part of an ongoing expansion drive in India.
• ‘BBC Samachar’ will broadcast live five days a week from Delhi and will air on the broadcaster’s partner station GSTV at 8 pm local time.
• The launch is part of a wider BBC World Service expansion, which has seen 12 new language services launched around the world over the last 12 months.
• Four new language services have been launched online in India – Gujarati, Marathi, Punjabi and Telugu.
• ‘BBC Samachar’ joins the Telugu TV bulletin ‘BBC Prapancham’ and the nightly Hindi TV news bulletin ‘BBC Duniya’.

BrahMos supersonic missile successfully test-fired from ITR at Chandipur

• Supersonic cruise missile BrahMos was test fired from the Integrated Test Range (ITR) at Chandipur, Odisha.
• Under life extension program BrahMos is the first Indian missile whose life has been extended from 10 to 15 years.
• The Indian Army has already inducted three regiments of BrahMos in its arsenal. All are equipped with Block-III version of the missile. The land-attack version of BrahMos has been in operation in the Indian Army since 2007.
• Dubbed as one of the most lethal weapons systems that currently exist in the world, BrahMos is capable of flights at supersonic speeds, making it hard for enemy radar to track.
• Developed by an Indo-Russian joint venture,the missile can be fired on three different targets or in a variety of other combinations near simultaneously.
• The fire-and-forget missile has the capability to take on surface targets by flying a combined hi-lo trajectory, thus evading enemy air defence systems.

China to launch 300 low-orbit satellites to provide worldwide communication services

• China plans to launch 300 low-orbit satellites to provide worldwide communication services, with the first in the series to be launched later this year.
• Known as the Hongyan constellation, the first in the 300-satellite array, is set to be launched.The constellation will be built in three stages.
• China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation said, once completed, the satellite communication network will take the place of the ground-based network and allow a mobile phone to be connected everywhere on the planet, either in a remote desert or at sea.

Peru declares 60-day state of emergency on its border with Colombia

• Peru has declared a 60-day state of emergency on its border with Colombia in order to guarantee security in a region rife with drug trafficking.
• There are security problems created by Colombian citizens crossing the border and there was a need to reestablish the state's presence.
• Police and armed forces used five helicopters and three planes in joint operations with their Colombian counterparts in the first patrol in the area.

8th India-Oman Joint Commission Meeting Begins in Muscat

• The Union Minister of Commerce & Industry and Civil Aviation, Suresh Prabhu, today co-chaired 8th session of India-Oman Joint Commission Meeting (JCM) along with Minister of Industry, Investment, Trade and Digital Economy of Oman.
• The Commerce Minister said that the Government of India has launched several investment friendly programmes like‘Make in India’ with a trillion dollar business opportunity in the country.
• He said that both countries are keen to expand collaborations to their mutual benefit in the fields of energy, health, business, finance and investments, infrastructure, travel and tourism.
• He said that the Sultanate of Oman is a strategic partner of India in the Gulf and the two countries enjoy warm and cordial relations.
• India-Oman Joint Investment Fund (OIJIF), a joint venture between State Bank of India and State General Reserve Fund (SGRF) of Oman, a special purpose vehicle to invest in India, has been operational and the initial corpus of US$ 100 million has been fully utilized.
• OIJIF has raised another $ 220 million for the second tranche which is being invested.

MAHAGENCO Pipe Conveyor System inaugurated

• Inauguration of the MAHAGENCO Pipe Conveyor System -An Initiative by WCL & MAHAGENCO
• The Union Minister of Railways, Finance, Corporate Affairs and Coal, Shri Piyush Goyal inaugurated the MAHAGENCO Pipe Conveyor System for coal transportation from cluster of mines of Western Coalfields Limited (WCL).
• The first Pipe Conveyor project of 6.3 Km length is a dedicated system for Chandrapur Super Thermal Power Station of MAHAGENCO by taking coal from Bhatadi OC mine, Chandrapur Area and feeding to MGR at Padmapur.
• The second project of approx. 20 Km length will have five feeding Open Cast Mines of Nagpur Area of WCL, namely Gondegaon, Kamptee, Inder, Bhanegaon and Singhori dedicated to Khaparkheda and Koradi Power Plants of Maharashtra State Power Generation Co. Ltd. (MSPGCL).
• This project is being carried out in two phases. On completion of this project, road transportation of coal will be stopped and 100 per cent coal production from these mines of WCL will be transported through Koradi & Khaperkheda Coal pipe conveyor.
• Effects:
• The pipe conveyor system is a step in the direction of developing a modern, efficient and eco-friendly mode of coal transportation from mines of WCL to the Pit head Power stations of MAHAGENCO, Maharashtra State Power Generation Co. Ltd. (MSPGCL) has taken up the installation of Pipe Conveyor System through WCL acquired land.

May announces new 2 bn pounds UK-Italian fighter jet project

• A new 2.0 billion pounds (2.3 billion euros, USD 2.7 billion) programme with Italy's Leonardo to design a new generation fighter jet as Britain aims to project aerospace prowess into its post-Brexit future.
• Williamson announced 2 billion pounds ($2.6 billion) of government funding for a concept aircraft through 2025, when a final decision would be taken on the program’s future.
• The plane -- nicknamed the Tempest -- is a joint venture of Britain’s BAE Systems Plc and Rolls Royce Holdings Plc, Italy’s Leonardo SpA and the U.K. arm of MBDA, Europe’s biggest missile company.

Ramesh Powar named Indian women's team interim coach

• Former India off-spinner Ramesh Powar has been appointed the interim coach of the national women’s cricket team until the BCCI finds a suitable replacement for Tushar Arothe.
• Powar will oversee the women’s team camp which begins in Bengaluru from July 25. The BCCI has already invited applications for the full-time coach’s job with July 20 being the deadline to apply.
• The 40-year-old played just two Test matches for India, claiming six wickets, while his 31 ODI appearances fetched him 34 scalps. His first-class career was more prolific and he claimed 470 wickets in 148 games.

USA win inaugural athletics World Cup

• The United States of America recorded a comprehensive victory in the inaugural edition of the Athletics World Cup after dominating the second day of the event in London.
• Event pitted eight of the world’s top countries in track and field against one another in a two-day competition in London.
• By the time Sunday’s events wrapped the U.S. had 219 points, beating second-place Poland’s 162 points, while the joint team from Great Britain and Northern Ireland were third with 155 points.

Background :

• The Athletics World Cup is a team-based international athletics competition inaugurated in 2018.
• The inaugural edition will feature eight national teams based on world rankings, with each team entering one athlete per event, and points gained on the basis of finishing position.
• While the event is organised outside of the official IAAF structures, the IAAF has expressed support for the event notwithstanding the existence of its own IAAF Continental Cup event.

एकापेक्षा जास्त मतदारसंघातून निवडणूक लढविण्यास एकाचीच उमेदवारी नसावी: जनहित याचिका

• सार्वत्रिक निवडणुकीत एकापेक्षा जास्त मतदारसंघांतून निवडणूक लढविण्यास एका व्यक्तीची उमेदवारी याच्या विरोधात सर्वोच्च न्यायालयात जनहित याचिका दाखल करण्यात आली आहे. भाजपा नेता अश्विनी उपाध्याय यांनी ही जनहित याचिका दाखल केली.
• याबाबत सुनावणी करताना भारताचे सरन्यायाधीश दीपक मिश्रा यांच्या अध्यक्षतेखालील खंडपीठाने, असे म्हटले की एकाच व्यक्तीला दोन मतदारसंघांतून एकाच वेळी निवडणूक लढविण्यास जनप्रतिनिधी कायद्यांतर्गत परवानगी देण्यात आली आहे आणि या परंपरेला परवानगी नाकारण्यासाठी कायद्यात दुरुस्ती करावी लागेल. मात्र भारत सरकारने यावर आपले मत देत न्यायालयाच्या विधानाचा विरोध केला आहे.

MAHAGENCO पाइप कन्व्हेयर सिस्टमचे उद्घाटन

• केंद्रीय रेल्वे मंत्री पियुष गोयल यांच्या हस्ते वेस्टर्न कोलफिल्ड लिमिटेडच्या (WCL) खानीपासून कोळसा वाहतूक करण्याकरिता महाराष्ट्राच्या MAHAGENCO पाइप कन्व्हेयर सिस्टीमचे उद्घाटन करण्यात आले आहे.
• या यंत्रणेचा पहिला प्रकल्प म्हणजे 6.3 किलोमीटर लांबीची यंत्रणा, जी चंद्रपूर क्षेत्राच्या कोळसा खानीमधून MAHAGENCOच्या चंद्रपूर सुपर औष्णिक वीजनिर्मिती केंद्राला कोळसा पुरवते. तर दुसरा प्रकल्प 20 किलोमीटर लांबीचा आहे, जो खापरखेडा आणि कोराडी वीज प्रकल्पांसाठी समर्पित आहे.

• 'BBC समाचार' दिल्लीतून आठवड्यात पाच दिवस प्रसारीत करण्यात येईल आणि रात्री 8 वाजता GSTV या ब्रॉडकास्टरच्या भागीदारी स्टेशनवरून प्रसारित केले जाईल. गेल्या 12 महिन्यांमध्ये जगभरात 12 भाषांच्या नवीन वृत्तसेवा सुरू केल्या आहेत. त्यात भारतात गुजराती, मराठी, पंजाबी आणि तेलगु या चार ऑनलाइन सेवा सुरू करण्यात आल्या आहेत.

पृथ्वीवर सर्वीकडे दळणवळण सेवा पुरवण्यासाठी चीन 300 उपग्रह सोडणार

• पृथ्वीवर सर्वीकडे दळणवळण सेवा पुरवण्यासाठी चीनने पृथ्वीच्या खालच्या कक्षेत 300 दळणवळण उपग्रह प्रस्थापित करण्याची योजना आखलेली आहे.
• चायना एरोस्पेस सायन्स अँड टेक्नॉलॉजी कॉर्पोरेशनच्या (CASTC) योजनेनुसार, सन 2019 मध्ये ‘हाँगयान’ उपग्रह मालिकेमधला पहिला उपग्रह अवकाशात सोडला जाणार. उपग्रहांचे हे जाळे तीन टप्प्यात बांधण्यात येईल. या जाळ्यामुळे पृथ्वीवर कुठेही मोबाइल फोनच्या माध्यमातून जुळता येईल.

कोलंबियालगत सीमेवर पेरूने 60 दिवसांची आपत्कालीन स्थिती घोषित केली

• वाढत्या अमली पदार्थांच्या तस्करीला रोखण्यासाठी कोलंबियालगत सीमावर्ती अॅमेझॉनच्या भागात पेरूने 60 दिवसांची आपत्कालीन स्थिती घोषित केलेली आहे.
• अॅमेझॉन नदीने वेगळे होणार्‍या पेरू आणि कोलंबिया यांच्या सीमेलगत असलेल्या अॅमेझॉन खोर्‍याच्या पुतूमयो प्रांतात ही लष्करी बंदी लागू करण्यात आली आहे. कोलंबियाचे नागरिक पेरूच्या सीमाक्षेत्रात घुसखोरी करताना दिसून येत असल्याने सुरक्षाविषयक समस्या निर्माण झालेली आहे.
• पेरू हा दक्षिण अमेरिकेतला एक देश आहे. लीमा हे शहर याची राजधानी आहे. सोल हे राष्ट्रीय चलन आहे.
• कोलंबिया हा दक्षिण अमेरिकेच्या उत्तरेकडील एक देश आहे. क्षेत्रफळाच्या दृष्टीने हा जगातला 26 वा आणि दक्षिण अमेरिका खंडामधील चौथा मोठा देश आहे. देशाची राजधानी बोगोटा शहर आहे आणि चलन कोलंबियन पेसो हे आहे.

भारत-ओमान संयुक्त आयोगाची 8 वी बैठक मस्कटमध्ये संपन्न

• 16 जुलै 2018 रोजी ओमानची राजधानी मस्कटमध्ये भारत-ओमान संयुक्त आयोगाची 8 वी बैठक संपन्न झाली.
• भारताचे प्रतिनिधित्व केंद्रीय मंत्री सुरेश प्रभू यांच्याकडे होते. या बैठकीत ‘मॅक इन इंडिया’ आणि ‘इन्व्हेस्ट इंडिया’ या कार्यक्रमांमध्ये भाग घेण्यास उद्युक्त करण्यात आले. सोबतच अंतराळ, अक्षय ऊर्जा, स्टार्टअप, SME अश्या विविध उद्योग क्षेत्रात चर्चा केली गेली आहे.

2 अब्ज पाउंड खर्चाच्या ब्रिटन-इटली लढाऊ विमान प्रकल्पाची घोषणा

• नवीन पिढीच्या लढाऊ विमानाची संरचना तयार करण्यासाठी ब्रिटनने इटलीच्या लिओनार्डो या एरोस्पेस कंपनीसह 2 अब्ज पाउंड (जवळपास $2.7 अब्ज) खर्चाच्या प्रकल्पाची योजना आखलेली आहे.
• ब्रिटनची सरकार BAE सिस्टीम्स, लिओनार्डो, MBDA आणि रोल्स रॉयस या कंपन्यांसमवेत ‘टीम टेम्पेस्ट’ म्हणून ओळखले जाणाऱ्या भागीदारीने त्याच्या फ्युचर कॉम्बॅट एअर सिस्टम टेक्नॉलॉजी इनिशिएटिव्हला चालवणार.

IDBI बँकेतल्या 51% भागभांडवलाचे अधिग्रहण LIC कडून केले जाणार

• भारतीय जीवन विमा मंडळाने (LIC) IDBI बँकेच्या 51% भागभांडवलाचे अधिग्रहण करण्यासाठी त्यासंबंधी सौद्याला मंजुरी दिलेली आहे.
• भारतीय जीवन विमा मंडळ (Life Insurance Corporation of India -LIC) हा एक भारतीय शासकीय विमा गट आहे. याची स्थापना 1 सप्टेंबर 1956 साली झाली आणि मुंबईत याचे मुख्यालय आहे. ही भारतामधली सर्वात मोठी विमा कंपनी आहे.

रमेश पोवार भारतीय महिला संघाचे अंतरिम प्रशिक्षक

• भारतीय क्रिकेट संघाचा माजी फिरकीपटू रमेश पोवारयाची भारतीय महिला क्रिकेट संघाच्या प्रशिक्षकपदी नियुक्ती करण्यात आली आहे.
• मुख्य प्रशिक्षक तुषार आरोठे यांनी राजीनामा दिल्यानंतर भारतीय क्रिकेट संघाचा माजी फिरकीपटू रमेश पोवार यांची अंतरिम प्रशिक्षक म्हणून नेमणूक करण्यात आली आहे. पोवार यांची नियुक्ती हंगामी स्वरुपाची आहे.

अमेरिकेने प्रथम अॅथलेटिक्स विश्वचषक जिंकला

• 14-15 जुलै रोजी ब्रिटनच्या लंडन शहरात खेळल्या गेलेल्या ‘2018 अॅथलेटिक्स विश्वचषक’ या नव्या स्पर्धा मालिकेच्या प्रथम आवृत्तीत अमेरिकेच्या चमूने सर्वंकष विजय नोंदविलेला आहे.
• IAAF कडून या नव्या विश्वचषक स्पर्धेचे आयोजन करण्यात आले होते. स्पर्धेत चीन, फ्रान्स, जर्मनी, ग्रेट ब्रिटन आणि उत्तरी आयरलँड, जमैका, पोलंड, दक्षिण आफ्रिका, अमेरिका या 8 देशांनी भाग घेतला होता. या उदघाटन प्रसंगी, ब्रिटनमध्ये मतदानाचा अधिकार देण्यात आल्याचे 100 वे महोत्सवी वर्ष साजरे करण्यासाठी सर्व राष्ट्रांचे कर्णधार पद महिलांना दिले गेले होते.
• आंतरराष्ट्रीय अॅथलेटिक्स महासंघ (IAAF) ही अॅथलेटिक्सच्या खेळासाठीची आंतरराष्ट्रीय प्रशासकीय संघटना आहे. याचे मुख्यालय मोंटे कार्लो (मोनॅको) येथे आहे. या महासंघाचे 215 सदस्य संघ आहेत. याची स्थापना 17 जुलै 1912 रोजी स्टॉकहोम (स्वीडन) येथे झाली.

ब्रह्मोस सुपरसॉनिक क्षेपणास्त्राची चाचणी यशस्वी

• 17 जुलै 2018 रोजी ओडिशाच्या चांदीपूर परीक्षण क्षेत्रात भारताच्या ‘ब्रह्मोस’ या स्वदेशी सुपरसॉनिक लक्ष्यभेदी क्षेपणास्त्राची चाचणी यशस्वीपणे पार पाडण्यात आली आहे.
• ब्रह्मोस कॉरपोरेशनचे 'ब्रह्मोस' क्षेपणास्त्र भारत आणि रशिया संबंधातून विकसित करण्यात आले आहे. ‘ब्रह्मोस कॉरपोरेशन’ भारताची संरक्षण संशोधन आणि विकास संस्था (DRDO) आणि रशियाची NPO मशीनोस्त्रोयेनिशिया यांचा एक संयुक्त उपक्रम (JV) आहे. ब्रह्मोस (BrahMos) हे नाव भारताची ब्रह्मपुत्र आणि रशियाची मस्कवा नदीवरून ठेवण्यात आले आहे. ब्रह्मोस जवळपास 300 किलोचे विस्फोटक आता जवळपास 300 किलोमीटर दूर वाहून नेण्यास सक्षम आहे. ब्रह्मोसच्या नावावर सर्वाधिक गतिमान सुपरसोनिक क्षेपणास्त्राचा जागतिक विक्रम आहे. याची गती ताशी सुमारे 3400 किलोमीटरपेक्षा अधिक आहे. भारतीय सेवेत ब्रह्मोस 2006 सालापासून आहे. हे एयर लॉंच्ड क्रुज क्षेपणास्त्र (ALCM) जल-थल-वायू अश्या तीनही परिस्थितीत भारतीय सेवेत आहे. ब्रह्मोस हे पहिले भारतीय क्षेपणास्त्र आहे, ज्याचे कार्यकाळ 10 ते 15 वर्षांपर्यंत वाढविण्यात आले आहे.
