राष्ट्रीय
विद्युत मंत्रालय ने उत्पादकों को बिजली भुगतानों में पारदर्शिता लाने के लिए प्राप्ति ऐप लांच किया:

• विद्युत राज्यमंत्री आर.के. सिंह ने 29 मई 2018 को वेब पोर्टल तथा ऐप प्राप्ति (भुगतान पुष्टि और उत्पादकों के चालान में पारदर्शिता लाने के लिए बिजली खरीद विश्लेषण) www.praapti.in, लांच किया।
• प्राप्ति ऐप तथा वेब पोर्टल बिजली खरीद में बिजली उत्पादकों और बिजली वितरण कंपनियों के बीच पारदर्शिता लाने के लिए विकसित किया गया है।
• यह ऐप और वेब पोर्टल बिजली उत्पादकों से विभिन्न दीर्घकालिक बिजली खरीद समझौतों के लिए चालान और भुगतान डाटा कैप्चर करेंगे। इससे हितधारकों को बिजली खरीद के मामले में वितरण कंपनियों की बकाया राशि का मासिक और पारम्परिक आंकड़ा प्राप्त करने में मदद मिलेगी।
• पोर्टल विभिन्न बिजली उत्पादक कंपनियों को भुगतान सहजता के बारे में विभिन्न राज्यों की बिजली वितरण कंपनियों के तुलनात्मक मूल्यांकन में मदद देगा।

भारत, पाक डीजीएमओ 2003 के युद्धविराम समझौते को पूरी तरह से लागू करने के लिए सहमत हुए:

• भारत और पाकिस्तान के डायरेक्टर जनरल ऑफ मिलिट्री ऑपरेशंस (डीजीएमओ) के बीच वर्ष 2003 के सीजफायर समझौते को पूरी तरह से लागू करने पर सहमति बन गई है।
• साल 2018 के 5वें महीने तक लाइन ऑफ़ कंट्रोल (LOC) पर पाकिस्तान की तरफ से सीजफायर उल्लंघन की घटनाओं की संख्या 1250 पहुंच गई है। साल 2017 में ऐसी घटनाओं की संख्या 971 थी। इन घटनाओं में 36 लोगों (सैनिक+सिविलियन) को अपनी जान गंवानी पड़ी है जबकि 120 से ज्यादा लोग घायल भी हुए हैं।
• इन घटनाओं पर लगाम लगाने के लिए भारत और पाकिस्तान के डायरेक्टर जनरल ऑफ मिलिट्री ऑपरेशंस (डीजीएमओ) के बीच 2003 के सीजफायर समझौते को पूरी तरह से लागू करने पर सहमति बन गई है। गौरतलब है कि इस समझौते के बाद भारत-पाक सीमा पर करीब 6 सालों तक शांति बनी रही थी।

अर्थव्यवस्था
एनएसई-एसजीएक्स विवाद मामले में न्यायमूर्ति एस जे वजीफदार को मध्यस्थ के रूप में नियुक्त किया गया:

• नेशनल स्टॉक एक्सचेंज ऑफ इंडिया लिमिटेड (एनएसई) और सिंगापुर एक्सचेंज लिमिटेड (एसजीएक्स) ने 29 मई 2018 को एसजीएक्स के भारत केंद्रित डेरिवेटिव्स उत्पादों पर मध्यस्थता के लिए मुंबई उच्च न्यायालय के समक्ष सहमत व्यक्त की।
• दोनों एक्सचेंज न्यायमूर्ति एस जे वजीफदार को मध्यस्थ के रूप में नियुक्त करने पर सहमत हुए हैं। वजीफदार 12 से 16 जून 2018 तक इस मामले की सुनवाई करेंगे और सुनवाई के आखिरी दिन इस मामले पर फैसला देंगे।

अंतर्राष्ट्रीय
यूएई ने निपाह वायरस (एनआईवी) के संक्रमण के कारण केरल से ताजा फलों और सब्जियों का आयात प्रतिबंधित किया:

• संयुक्त अरब अमीरात (यूएई) ने निपाह वायरस (एनआईवी) के संक्रमण के कारण केरल से ताजा फलों और सब्जियों का आयात रोक दिया है। यूएई के जलवायु परिवर्तन एवं पर्यावरण मंत्रालय ने इस बात की पुष्टि की।
• मंत्रालय का यह फैसला विश्व स्वास्थ्य संगठन (डब्ल्यूटीओ) की वेबसाइट से प्राप्त और प्रकाशित सूचना पर आधारित है।

यूएस कैपिटॉल भारतीय-अमेरिकी सम्मेलन की पहली बार मेजबानी करेगा:

• यूएस कैपिटॉल जून के पहले सप्ताह में भारतीय अमेरिकी निर्वाचित अधिकारियों, नेताओं, समाज-सेवियों और समुदाय के सदस्यों के पहले सम्मेलन की मेजबानी करेगा।
• कैलिफ़ोर्निया की सीनेटर कमला हैरिस जोकि अमेरिकी सीनेट के लिए चुनी जाने वाली भारतीय मूल की पहली महिला हैं, इस सम्मेलन में प्रमुख वक्त होंगी। यह इंडियन अमेरिकन इम्पैक्ट प्रोजेक्ट के द्वारा आयोजित किया जायेगा।

यूरोपीय संघ ने विदेशी अस्थायी श्रमिकों के लिए कानून को मजबूत किया:

• यूरोपीय संघ ने एक कानून पारित किया है जिसमें फर्मों को स्थानीय मानकों का अनुपालन करने की हिदायत दी गयी है। इन मानकों का पालन उन्हें तब करना है जब वो अस्थायी रूप से अन्य यूरोपीय संघ के देशों में श्रमिकों को कार्य करने के लिए भेजते हैं।
• यूरोपीय संसद द्वारा अपनाए गए संशोधित नियमों का मतलब है कि दूसरे देशों में काम करने के लिए भेजे गए श्रमिक अपने स्थानीय समकक्षों के समान ही वेतन पाने के हकदार होंगे।

व्यक्ति विशेष
रूस में भारत के राजदूत पंकज सरन को डिप्टी एनएसए बनाया गया:

• वरिष्ठ राजनयिक पंकज सरन को उप राष्ट्रीय सुरक्षा सलाहकार (एनएसए) नियुक्त किया गया है। सरन फिलहाल रूस में भारत के राजदूत हैं। कार्मिक मंत्रालय द्वारा जारी आदेश में कहा गया कि कैबिनेट की नियुक्ति समिति ने डिप्टी एनएसए के रूप में सरन की दो वर्ष के लिए नियुक्ति को मंजूरी दी है।
• 1982 बैच के भारतीय विदेश सेवा (आईएफएस) के अधिकारी को नवंबर 2015 में रूस में भारत का राजदूत नियुक्त किया गया था। वह भारत और विदेश में कई महत्वपूर्ण पद संभाल चुके हैं। वह दो बार प्रधानमंत्री कार्यालय में सेवाएं दे चुके हैं।
• पहले 1995 से 1997 तक उपसचिव, निदेशक के रूप में और फिर 2007 से 2012 तक संयुक्त सचिव के रूप में कार्यरत रहे।

न्यायमूर्ति आर के अग्रवाल अगले एनसीडीआरसी अध्यक्ष नियुक्त किये गए:

• सुप्रीम कोर्ट के पूर्व न्यायाधीश न्यायमूर्ति आर के अग्रवाल को राष्ट्रीय उपभोक्ता विवाद निवारण आयोग (एनसीडीआरसी) का अध्यक्ष नियुक्त किया गया है।
• अग्रवाल ने न्यायमूर्ति डीके जैन का स्थान लिया है जो हाल ही में सेवानिवृत्त हुए थे।

एलिसिया पुचेता को पराग्वे की पहली अंतरिम महिला राष्ट्रपति के रूप में नामित किया गया:

• पराग्वे के निवर्तमान नेता होरासियो कार्टस के समय से पहले इस्तीफा देने के कारण अस्थायी तौर पर उप-राष्ट्रपति एलिसिया पुचेता को राष्ट्रपति नियुक्त किया जायेगा। पुचेता पराग्वे की पहली महिला राष्ट्रपति होंगी।
• कार्टर के इस्तीफे के बाद 68 वर्षीय उप-राष्ट्रपति एलिसिया पुचेता राष्ट्रपति के तौर पर उनका बचा हुआ कार्यकाल पूरा करेंगी। पुचेता के बाद हालिया चुनाव में निर्वाचित मारियो अब्दो बेनिटेज 15 अगस्त को पांच साल के लिए पराग्वे के राष्ट्रपति बनेंगे।
• पराग्वे में 45 में से केवल 8 महिला सीनेटर हैं और निचले सदन में 80 सदस्यों में से केवल 11 महिलाएं हैं।

बंगाल के छाऊ मास्क को जीआई टैग मिला:

• पुरुलिया के छाऊ मास्क, कुष्मांडी के लकड़ी के मुखौटे (मास्क), पटचित्र, बंगाल के डोकरा, और मधुरकाठी (एक प्रकार की चटाई) भौगोलिक संकेत रजिस्ट्री और बौद्धिक संपदा भारत द्वारा भौगोलिक संकेत (जीआई) टैग प्रदान किये गए हैं।
• भौगोलिक संकेतक (जीआई टैग) किसी उत्पाद को दिया जाने वाला एक विशेष टैग है। जीआई टैग सिर्फ उसी उत्पाद को दिया जाता है जो किसी विशिष्ट भौगोलिक क्षेत्र में उत्पन्न होता है। जिसमें निहित विशेषताओं का उस स्थान विशेष से गहरा संबंध होता है।
• जीआई टैग को औद्योगिक संपत्ति के संरक्षण के लिये पेरिस कन्वेंशन के तहत बौद्धिक संपदा अधिकारों (आईपीआर) के एक घटक के रूप में शामिल किया गया है। वर्ष 2004 में ‘दार्जिलिंग टी’ जीआई टैग प्राप्त करने वाला पहला भारतीय उत्पाद है।

Ministry of Power launches web portal and App called PRAAPTI

• PRAAPTI App and Web portal was launched by Minister of State for Power R.K. Singh for bringing transparency in electricity payments to Generators.
• PRAAPTI stands for Payment Ratification And Analysis in Power procurement for bringing Transparency in Invoicing of generators.
• This will help the stakeholders in getting month-wise and legacy data on outstanding amounts of Discoms against power purchase.
• The app will also allow users to know the details related to the payments made by the Discoms to the power generation company and when they were made.
• PRAAPTI will also enable the consumers to evaluate financial performance of their Discoms in terms of payments being made to the generation companies.
• The meaning of DISCOM is “Distribution Company (In India)”, that is, eaning companies are not generating electricity themselves, rather purchasing it from someone else and just supplying to the final consumers.

US Capitol to host first-ever gathering of Indian-Americans

• For the first time, the US Capitol will host Indian American elected officials, leaders, philanthropists and some 80 community members.
• Senator Kamala Harris from California, the first ever Indian origin to be elected to the US Senate, is scheduled to deliver a keynote address to the one-of-its kind of gathering.
• Organized by recently-formed Indian American Impact Project, the day-long meeting on June 6 is expected to be attended by nearly 200 Indian-American.
• Impact project is a new Initiative to help Patriotic India-American and its work is to build a nation-wide network of Indian American leaders in policy, politics and government.

Justice S J Vazifdar appointed as arbitrator in NSE-SGX dispute case

• The Bombay High Ccourt has appointed Justice (Retd.) S.J. Vazifdar (former Chief Justice of Punjab and Haryana High Court) as the arbitrator in National Stock Exchange of India Limited (NSE) and SGX (Singapore Exchange Ltd) dispute.
• The court also directed SGX not to launch its proposed Nifty-based new derivatives product till the arbitrator passes interim orders in the dispute.
• What is the Dispute: Indian exchanges, in an attempt to curb migration of traders, had decided to bar overseas bourses from trading in Nifty derivatives. India Index Services and Products (IISL), an NSE subsidiary that provides index-related services, had eight days ago dragged Singapore Exchange Derivatives Trading to the HC to prevent it from launching “an unlicensed financial surrogate product” from June 4. 
• The National Stock Exchange of India Limited (NSE) is the leading stock exchange of India, located in Mumbai. The NSE was established in 1992 as the first demutualized electronic exchange in the country. Vikram Limaye is Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer (MD & CEO) of NSE.

UAE bans import of fruits, vegetables from Kerala

• United Arab Emirates (UAE) banned import of fresh fruits and vegetables from Kerala in the wake of outbreak of Nipah virus (NiV) in the state.
• It further said the decision is based on the information received and published on the World Health Organisation (WHO) website regarding the outbreak of NiV infection in Kerala.
• Preliminary information, it added indicates that the main host of the disease is the fruit bat, where the virus is transmitted through secretions from the bat to the fruit that it feeds on or touches.
• Mangoes, dates and bananas are the bat's most preferred fruit. Brain damaging Nipah virus has leads to death of over 10 people so far in the Kerala.

EU tightens law on foreign temporary workers

• European Union (EU) has tightened the laws for working conditions of foreign workers by entitling them the same level of pay as their local counterparts.
• In France, the UK and Germany there have been complaints of unfair competition from cheaper eastern European labour by giving competition to local labour.
• Under the new rules, firms sending workers to another EU country will have to cover their travel, board and accommodation costs - not deduct those costs from the workers' salaries. The accommodation provided will have to meet local standards.
• The duration of the posting has been set at a maximum of 12 months, with a possible extension of six months. Beyond that period, a worker who stays on will have to be governed by the host country's labour rules.
• The 28 EU member states now have two years to transpose the rules into national law.

India, Pak DGMOs agree to fully implement 2003 ceasefire pact

• The Director General of Military Operations (DGMOs) of India and Pakistan agreed to “fully implement” the ceasefire pact of 2003 in “letter and spirit” to stop cross border firings in Jammu and Kashmir.
• The two military commanders reviewed the prevailing situation along the Line of Control (LoC) and International Border (IB) in J&K.
• The special hotline contact was initiated by the Pakistani DGMO.
• The two armies issued identical statements saying both sides agreed to fully implement the 15-year-old ceasefire understanding.
• A total of 908 incidents of ceasefire violations by Pakistan Army were reported till date in the current year as against 860 incidents during 2017.

India's envoy to Russia Pankaj Saran appointed Dy NSA

• Senior diplomat Pankaj Saran has been appointed as Deputy National Security Advisor.
• The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved Saran's appointment as the deputy NSA for a period of two years.
• The 1982 batch officer of Indian Foreign Service (IFS) was in November 2015 appointed as the India's envoy to Russia.
• He had held various positions in India and abroad including the country's High Commissioner to Bangladesh. He also served as the joint secretary in the Prime Minister's Office between 2007 and 2012. 
• Former chief of the Intelligence Bureau, Ajit Doval is the National Security Adviser. 

Justice R K Agrawal to be next NCDRC President

• Former Supreme court Judge R K Agrawal has been appointed the President of the National Consumer Dispute Redressal Mechanism (NCDRC).
• The NCDRC, which deals with consumer rights and addresses their disputes and grievances, is a quasi-judicial commission set up in 1988 under the Consumer Protection Act of 1986.
• Justice Agrawal, who hails from Uttar Pradesh, was sworn in as a judge of the top court on February 17, 2014.
• He will take over from Justice D K Jain, who will complete his term on May 31, 2018

Alicia Pucheta named first woman president of Paraguay

• Paraguay will have a woman president for the first time in its history, at least temporarily, after outgoing leader Horacio Cartes stepped down ahead of schedule.
• Fellow conservative Mario Abdo Benitez, elected in 22 April polls, will begin his five-year term as president of one of Latin America's poorest countries.
• Landlocked Paraguay, sandwiched between Argentina, Bolivia and Brazil, enjoyed consistent economic growth during tobacco magnate Cartes's five years in power, but failed to shake off persistent poverty, corruption and drug trafficking.
• It remains a land of contrasts, still marked by the 1954-1989 dictatorship of general Alfredo Stroessner.
• Despite an official campaign against endemic corruption, Paraguay remains 135th out of 180 countries on the 2017 corruption index of Transparency International.

Bengal’s Chhau mask acquires GI fame

• The Chhau mask of Purulia, the wooden mask of Kushmandi, the Patachitra, the Dokras of Bengal, and Madhurkathi (a kind of mat) have been presented with the Geographical Indication (GI) tag by the Geographical Indication Registry and Intellectual Property India.
• A GI tag connects the quality and authenticity of a given product to a particular geographical origin, thereby ensuring that no one other than the authorized user can use the popular product’s name.
• GI tags are given on the basis of the Geographical Indications of Goods (Registration and Protection) Act, 1999. The first product to be included in the list was Darjeeling Tea.

वीज मंत्रालयाचे ‘प्राप्ती’ संकेतस्थळ व मोबाइल अॅप

• वीज मंत्रालयाकडून ‘प्राप्ती’ (पेमेंट रेक्टीफिकेशन अँड अनॅलिसिस इन पॉवर प्रोकुअरमेंट फॉर ब्रिंगींग ट्रान्सपीरंसी इन इनवॉइसींग ऑफ जनरेटर्स) या नावाने एक नवे संकेतस्थळ आधारित व्यासपीठ आणि मोबाइल अॅप सुरू करण्यात आले आहे.
• वीज निर्माते आणि वीज प्रेषण कंपन्यांमध्ये होणार्‍या वीज खरेदी व्यवहारांमध्ये पारदर्शकता आणण्यासाठी ही नवी सुविधा सुरू करण्यात आली आहे.

बंगालच्या छौ मुखवट्याला GI टॅग मिळाले

• पश्चिम बंगालच्या पुरुलिया येथील प्रसिद्ध छौ (Chhau) मुखवट्याला भौगोलिक संकेतक (GI) टॅग प्राप्त झाले आहे. GI नोंदणी आणि बौद्धिक संपदा भारत यांच्याकडून याबाबत प्रमाणपत्र मिळालेले आहे.
• कुशमंडीचा लाकडी मुखवटा, पट्टचित्र, बंगालचे डोक्रास आणि मधुरकाठी (चटईचा प्रकारचा) या मुखवटा आणि त्यांच्या सजावटीशी संबंधित कलाकृतींना GI टॅग दिले गेले आहे. आता या कलाकृतींच्या सादरीकरणाचे अधिकार पश्चिम बंगालकडे आले आहे.
• आतापर्यंत 25 उत्पादनांना GI टॅग प्राप्त झाले आहेत, त्यापैकी नऊ उत्पादने केवळ पश्चिम बंगालमधील आहेत. वस्तूंचे भौगोलिक संकेतक (नोंद व संरक्षण) अधिनियम-1999 च्या आधारावर GI टॅग दिले जातात. GI टॅगच्या यादीमध्ये समाविष्ट होणारे प्रथम उत्पादन म्हणजे - दार्जिलिंग चहा.

वॉशिंग्टन डीसीमध्ये प्रथम भारतीय-अमेरिकी नागरिकांचा मेळावा आयोजित

• अमेरिकेची राजधानी वॉशिंग्टन डीसीमध्ये भारतीय आणि अमेरिकी नागरिकांचा पहिला-वहिला मेळावा भरविण्यात येणार आहे. इंडियन अमेरिकन इंपॅक्ट प्रोजेक्टद्वारे या कार्यक्रमाचे आयोजन करण्यात येईल.
• 7 जून 2018 रोजी आयोजित या मेळाव्यात भारतीय वंशीय अमेरिकेचे नागरिक असलेले निवडून आलेले अधिकारी, नेते, लोकोपत्कारी व जवळपास 80 समुदायांचे सदस्य एकत्र येणार आहेत.

UAE ने केरळमधून फळे, भाजीपाला आयात करणे बंद केले

• संयुक्त अरब अमिरात (UAE) ने केरळमधून ताज्या भाज्या आणि फळे आयात करण्यावर बंदी घातली आहे. केरळमध्ये निपाह विषाणूच्या उद्रेकामुळे झालेल्या मृत्यू घटनानंतर UAE ने हा निर्णय घेतला.
• संयुक्त अरब अमिरात (UAE) हा एक अरबी द्वीपकल्प देश आहे जो प्रामुख्याने पारशी (अरब) आखाती प्रदेश आहे. हा देश 7 अमिरातीचा महासंघ आहे. अबू धाबी ही या देशाची राजधानी आहे आणि संयुक्त अरब अमिरात दिरहॅम हे चलन आहे.

• युरोपीय संघाने परदेशी तात्पुरत्या कामगारांसंबंधी कायदा आणखी कडक केला आहे. नव्या कायद्यानुसार, कंपन्या जेव्हा कामगारांना दुसर्‍या एखाद्या युरोपीय देशामध्ये तात्पुरते नियुक्त करतात ,तेव्हा त्यांना स्थानिक मानदंडांचे पालन करणे अनिवार्य आहे.
• नव्या संशोधित नियमाद्वारे, एखाद्या पदावर नियुक्त कंत्राटी कामगाराला त्याच्याच पातळीवर काम करणार्‍या कायम कामगारांच्या इतकेच समान पातळीवर वेतन देऊ केले जाईल.
• युरोपीय संघ (EU) हा मुख्यतः युरोपमध्ये स्थित 28 सदस्य देशांचा एक राजकीय आणि आर्थिक समूह आहे. हा समूह 1 नोव्हेंबर 1993 साली स्थापित करण्यात आला. सकल स्थानिक उत्पादन (GDP) याने युरोपीय संघ ही जगातील सर्वात मोठी अर्थव्यवस्था आहे. ब्रिटन EU मधून बाहेर पडण्याच्या प्रक्रियेत आहे.

• भारत आणि पाकिस्तान या दोघांच्याही लष्करी कारवाया महासंचालकांनी (DGMO) जम्मू-काश्मीरमध्ये 2003 साली झालेल्या युद्धबंदी कराराची "परिपूर्ण अंमलबजावणी" करण्यास सहमती दर्शवली आहे.
• पाकिस्तान हा दक्षिण आशियामधील एक देश आहे. पाकिस्तान हे केंद्रीय घटनात्मक प्रजासत्ताक असून देशात चार सुभे (परगणा) आणि चार केंद्रशासित प्रदेश आहेत. इस्लामाबाद ही पाकिस्तानची राजधानी आहे. पाकिस्तानी रुपया हे राष्ट्रीय चलन आहे.

• पंकज सरन यांची डेप्युटी राष्ट्रीय सुरक्षा सल्लागार (NSA) पदावर नेमणूक करण्यात आली आहे. ही नियुक्ती दोन वर्षांसाठी आहे.
• 1982 सालचे भारतीय विदेश सेवा अधिकारी पंकज सरन वर्तमानात रशियामधील भारतीय राजदूत आहेत.
• राष्ट्रीय सुरक्षा सल्लागार (NSA) हे राष्ट्रीय सुरक्षा परिषदेचे मुख्य कार्यकारी अधिकारी आहेत आणि राष्ट्रीय व आंतरराष्ट्रीय सुरक्षिततेबाबत भारताच्या पंतप्रधानांचे प्राथमिक सल्लागार आहेत.

• सर्वोच्च न्यायालयाचे माजी न्यायाधीश आर. के. अग्रवाल यांची राष्ट्रीय ग्राहक तंटा निवारण आयोग (NCDRC) यांचे अध्यक्ष म्हणून नेमणूक करण्यात आली आहे.
• राष्ट्रीय ग्राहक तंटा निवारण आयोग (NCDRC) हा ग्राहक संरक्षण कायदा-1986 अंतर्गत 1988 साली स्थापित एक अर्ध-न्यायिक आयोग आहे, जे ग्राहकांचे अधिकार आणि तक्रार निवारण संबंधात कार्य करते. याचे मुख्यालय नवी दिल्लीत आहे.

• नॅशनल स्टॉक एक्सचेंज ऑफ इंडिया लि. (NSE) आणि सिंगापूर एक्सचेंज लिमिटेड (SGX) यांच्यामधील तंटा सोडविण्यासाठी मध्यस्थी करण्यासाठी आर्बिट्रेटर म्हणून निवृत्त न्या. एस. जे. वाझीफदार यांची नियुक्ती करण्यास मान्यता दिली आहे.
• नॅशनल स्टॉक एक्सचेंज ऑफ इंडिया लि. (NSE) आणि सिंगापूर एक्सचेंज लिमिटेड (SGX) यांनी बॉम्बे उच्च न्यायालयापुढे हे मान्य केले आहे की, SGXच्या भारतावर केंद्रित डेरिव्हेटिव्ह उत्पादनांवरून निर्माण झालेल्या त्यांच्या तंट्याला ते तंटा निवारण लवादाकडे मांडणार. त्यासाठी त्यांनी ही नियुक्ती करण्यास मान्यता दिली.
