World Carbon Dioxide Emissions Rose 2.7 Percent in the Last Year, New Studies Show

World carbon dioxide emissions are estimated to have risen 2.7 percent from 2017 to 2018, according to three studies released from the Global Carbon Project, an international scientific collaboration of academics, governments and industry that tracks greenhouse gas emissions.
The studies concluded that this year the world would spew 40.9 billion tons (37.1 billion metric tons) of carbon dioxide, up from 39.8 billion tons (36.2 billion metric tons) last year. The margin of error is about one percentage point on either side.
The world is on track for a 3-5 degrees Celsius rise in global average temperature this century and if all known fossil fuel resources are used the rise will be even bigger, the U.N. World Meteorological Organization warned earlier.
    Who is emitting more?
China is foremost carbon polluter of the world. It alone is responsible for 9.8% carbon emission in the world.
On the 2nd spot is the USA, responsible for the 5.3% carbon emissions in the world. On top of that, USA has also withdrawn from Climate Change Agreement 2015, so technically it is not following any target to reduce the carbon footprint.
European Union is the third largest and India at the fourth position.
    What led to this growth?
The record high of carbon emissions in 2018 was driven by a solid growth in coal use for the second year in a row, along with sustained growth in oil and gas use.

    The Challenge
The National Challenge is open to students of classes 6 – 12 all across the country – all 29 States and 7 Union Territories and aims to reach out to at least 1 million youth over the next 3 months.
There are 11 core theme areas on which students can share their ideas- healthcare services, education services, digital services, environment, women safety, traffic, infrastructure, agriculture, social welfare, disability and tourism. The Challenge requires students to access online videos and understand how to identify problems and share a 90 second video explaining the problem and their proposed solution.
From the submitted ideas in the form of videos, around 360 students (10 students per State & UT) will be selected by a panel of experts to attend 5 regional Boot Camps organized in North, South, East, West and North Eastern regions of the country ( 1 in each region).

The Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) has lined up a slew of relaxations for new-age ventures to kick-start listing of start-ups in India in a big way.
The regulator has proposed to rename Institutional Trading Platform (ITP) as Innovators Growth Platform (IGP)
It suggests IGP be designated as a main board platform for startups
The policy change is being made in view of the evolving Indian startup ecosystem, maintains Sebi.

    Road Ahead

The Sebi has proposed that IGP would be designated as a main board platform for startups with an option to trade under regular category after completion of one year of listing.
Current rules say an entity listed on ITP can migrate to the main board after expiry of three years from the date of listing.
Sebi has also proposed to reduce the minimum trading lot size to $2.7K (INR 2 lakh) from the existing $13.6K (INR 10 lakh), also proposed to minimise number of allottees to 50 from the existing 200.
Besides, it has also proposed 10 crores as minimum net offer size to public.
