16 अक्टूबर को मनाया गया 'विश्व खाद्य दिवस'

• 'विश्व खाद्य दिवस' दुनियाभर में 16 अक्टूबर को मनाया जाता है, ताकि वैश्विक जनसंख्या में पूरे विश्व के कुपोषित लोगों की स्थिति और परिस्थिति के बारे में जगरुकता उत्पन्न की जा सके।
• बता दें, कि कनाडा में इसी दिन वर्ष 1945 में विकासशील देशों में कृषि के विकास के लिए जरूरी ‘खाद्य एवं कृषि संगठन’ (एफ.ए.ओ.) की स्थापना की गई थी, यह तकनीक कृषि, पर्यावरण, पोषक तत्व और खाद्य सुरक्षा के बारे में जानकारी देता है।

सौभाग्य योजना के तहत विद्युतीकरण के प्रारंभिक समापन के लिए राज्य को 100 करोड़ रुपये का पुरस्कार

• विद्युत तथा नवीन और नवीकरणीय ऊर्जा राज्य मंत्री (स्वतंत्र प्रभार) आर.के. सिंह ने बिजली वितरण कम्पनियों/राज्यों के विद्युत विभाग तथा उनके कर्मचारियों को संचालन क्षेत्र में 100 प्रतिशत घरों में विद्युतीकरण के लक्ष्य को हासिल करने में मदद देने के लिए नई दिल्ली में सौभाग्य योजना के अंतर्गत पुरस्कार योजना की घोषणा की।
• यह पुरस्कार बिजली वितरण कम्पनियों के विद्युत विभागों के स्तर पर 100 प्रतिशत घरों में विद्युतीकरण लक्ष्य को हासिल करने के लिए दिए जाएंगे।
• सौभाग्य लांच होने के पहले 8 राज्यों (आंध्र प्रदेश, गुजरात, गोवा, हरियाणा, हिमाचल प्रदेश, केरल, पंजाब और तमिलनाडु) ने 99 प्रतिशत से अधिक घरों के विद्युतीकरण का लक्ष्य हासिल कर लिया है और यह राज्य पुरस्कार योजना में शामिल होने योग्य बन गए हैं।
• पुरस्कार तीन श्रेणियों में दिए जाएंगे। यह श्रेणियां हैं- (1) डिस्कॉम/विशेष दर्जा वाले राज्यों (2) डिस्कॉम/विशेष दर्जा के अलावा अन्य राज्यों तथा (3) डिस्कॉम/विशेष दर्जा वाले राज्यों के अलावा अन्य राज्य जहां पांच लाख से कम घर विद्युतीकृत नहीं हैं।

• भारत सरकार ने सितंबर, 2017 में ‘प्रधानमंत्री सहज बिजली हर घर योजना’ (सौभाग्य) लांच किया था। इसका उद्देश्य 31 मार्च, 2019 तक देश में सम्पूर्ण रूप से घरों के विद्युतीकरण लक्ष्य को हासिल करना था।
• इस योजना के लांच होने के बाद से राज्य के विद्युत विभागों तथा विद्युत वितरण कम्पनियों के सहयोग से 1.65 करोड़ घरों का विद्युतीकरण हुआ है।

सरकार ने युवा शिक्षार्थियों के लिए लाइसेंस कार्यक्रम शुरू किया

• सरकार ने 15 अक्टूबर को एक प्रशिक्षण कार्यक्रम शुरू किया है, जो 2020 तक सड़क दुर्घटनाओं को 50 प्रतिशत तक कम करने के अपने लक्ष्य को हासिल करने में मदद करने की उम्मीद है।
• नई दिल्ली में यूथ रोड सेफ्टी लर्नर्स लाइसेंस प्रोग्राम लॉन्च करने के बाद, सड़क परिवहन और राजमार्ग राज्य और रसायन एवं उर्वरक राज्य मंत्री मनसुख एल मंडविया ने कहा कि सड़क सुरक्षा सरकार के लिए सबसे महत्वपूर्ण है क्योंकि हाल के दिनों में विशेष रूप से युवाओं के बीच सड़क की मौत में खतरनाक वृद्धि देखी गई है।
• रैश ड्राइविंग, शराब पीके ड्राइविंग, पर्याप्त सुरक्षा उपायों की कमी जैसे कुछ प्रमुख कारक हैं जिसके परिणामस्वरूप सड़क दुर्घटनाएं बढ़ती जा रही हैं।

• सड़क परिवहन मंत्रालय द्वारा 09 अक्टूबर 2018 को सड़क हादसों से सम्बंधित रिपोर्ट जारी की गई थी, जिसमे यह पता चला था कि 2017 में देश भर में सड़क दुर्घटनाओं में पैदल चलने वालों और साइकिल चालकों को मौत में सबसे बड़ी वृद्धि हुई है।
• सड़क दुर्घटनाओं में मारे गए पैदल चलने वालों की संख्या 29.9% बढ़कर 20,457 हो गई और साइकिल चालकों की संख्या 37.7% बढ़कर 3,559 हो गई है।

भारत के प्रधानमंत्रियों का इतिहास एक ही संग्रहालय में

• दिल्ली में तीन मूर्ति मार्ग पर ‘प्रधानमंत्री संग्रहालय’ का शिलान्यास किया गया।
• केंद्रीय आवास एवं शहरी कार्य मंत्री हरदीप सिंह पुरी और संस्कृति मंत्री महेश शर्मा ने परंपरागत ढंग से भूमि पूजन करते हुए ‘प्रधानमंत्री संग्रहालय’ की आधारशिला रखी।
• यह संग्रहालय भारत के प्रधानमंत्रियों के सम्मान में बनाया जा रहा है। यह अपनी तरह का अकेला और पहला संग्रहालय है जहां पूर्व प्रधानमंत्रियों से संबंधित वस्तुओं और उनको मिले उपहारों को रखा जाएगा।
• दस हजार वर्ग फुट में बनने वाले संग्रहालय में पूर्व प्रधानमंत्रियों के लोकतंत्र में योगदान और उनके राजनीतिक सफर को प्रस्तुत किया जाएगा।

माइक्रोसॉफ्ट के सह-संस्थापक पॉल एलन का निधन

• मशहूर सॉफ्टवेयर कंपनी माइक्रोसॉफ्ट के सह-संस्थापक पॉल ऐलन का 65 साल की उम्र में निधन हो गया। 
• ऐलन ने अपने बचपन के दोस्त बिल गेट्स के साथ मिलकर साल 1975 में माइक्रोसॉफ्ट की नींव रखी थी।
• एलन ने दो हफ्ते पहले ही खुलासा किया था कि उन्हें 9 साल पहले हुआ लिम्फोमा (ब्लड कैंसर) से दोबारा से लौट आया।
• ब्लड कैंसर में श्वेत रक्त कणिकाओं पर असर पड़ता है जिससे शरीर की रोग प्रतिरोधक क्षमता खत्म हो जाती है।
• बता दें, एलन ने स्ट्रेटोलॉन्च नाम की एक स्पेस कंपनी भी बनाई थी। इसी कंपनी ने दुनिया का सबसे बड़ा प्लेन बनाया था, हालांकि ये प्लेन कभी उड़ान नहीं भर सका।

यमन राष्ट्रपति ने देश के प्रधानमंत्री को किया बर्खास्त

• यमन के राष्ट्रपति आबिद रब्बो मंसूर हादी ने देश के प्रधानमंत्री अहमद बिन डाघर को बर्खास्त कर दिया है।
• हादी ने अहमद बिन डाघर पर देश का शासन चलाने में ‘‘लापरवाही' बरतने का आरोप लगाया और कहा कि डाघर आर्थिक मोर्चे पर खराब प्रदर्शन के दोषी हैं और वह मुद्रा को गिरने से रोकने में नाकाम रहे हैं।
• राष्ट्रपति ने कार्यालय के बयान में मईन अब्दुल मलिक सईद को नया प्रधानमंत्री नामित किया गया।
• बता दें, यमन युद्ध प्रभावित देश है, जहां सऊदी अरब की अगुवाई वाला गठबंधन मार्च 2015 से ही शिया हूथी विद्रोहियों के खिलाफ हादी की सरकार का समर्थन कर रहा है।

दिल्ली के लिए वायु गुणवत्ता प्रारंभिक चेतावनी प्रणाली शुरू की गई

• दिल्ली और आसपास के इलाकों में हवा की गुणवत्ता बेहद खराब होने पर वायु प्रदूषण की आपात स्थिति की चेतावनी देने वाली प्रणाली ने 15 अक्टूबर से काम करना शुरू कर दिया है।
• मौसम विभाग, केन्द्रीय प्रदूषण नियंत्रण बोर्ड (सीपीसीबी) और मौसम विज्ञान संबंधी विभिन्न शोध संस्थानों द्वारा विकसित की गयी इस प्रणाली की शुरुआत पर्यावरण, वन एवं जलवायु परिवर्तन मंत्री डा. हर्षवर्धन ने की। इसका संचालन विभाग की राष्ट्रीय मौसम पूर्वानुमान इकाई द्वारा किया जाएगा।
• राजधानी क्षेत्र (एनसीआर) दिल्ली में वायु प्रदूषण नियंत्रण के उपायों के तहत हवा की गुणवत्ता की लगातार निगरानी के लिये इस प्रणाली को विकसित किया गया है।
• इस प्रणाली के तहत दिल्ली-एनसीआर क्षेत्र में हवा बेहद दूषित होने पर अन्य मौसम संबंधी चेतावनियों की तरह वायु प्रदूषण की आपात स्थिति की चेतावनी जारी की जाएगी।

भारतीय संस्थानों की क्यूएस रैंकिंग में आईआईटी-बॉम्बे सबसे ऊपर

• इंडियन इंस्टीट्यूट ऑफ टेक्नोलॉजी, बॉम्बे, क्यूएस द्वारा जारी स्टैंडअलोन रैंकिंग में भारतीय उच्च शिक्षा संस्थानों में सबसे ऊपर है।
• क्यूएस एक थिंक टैंक है जो संस्थानों की विश्व रैंकिंग तैयार करने के लिए प्रसिद्ध है।
• भारतीय विज्ञान संस्थान, बेंगलुरू दूसरे स्थान पर है।

Rs 100 crore award to State for early completion of electrification under Saubhagya scheme

• Central Government has announced 100 crore rupee award for states that would complete the household electrification early under the Saubhagaya scheme.
• Those states which have already achieved 99% electrification would be kept out of the scheme.
• Those states are Gujarat, Punjab, Goa, Andhra Pradesh, Haryana, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Himachal Pradesh.

  • The Pradhan Mantri Sahaj Bijli Har Ghar Yojana, shortened into Saubhagya, was flagged off in September 2017, with the objective of electrifying all left-out Indian households.
  • The original completion date of March 2019 has been advanced to December 2018.

  • Under it, free electricity connections are provided to below poverty line (BPL) households, while other households have to pay ₹500 for the connection.
  • The total cost of the Saubhagya project is pegged at ₹16,320 crore, of which, 60 per cent is funded by the Centre, 30 per cent by bank loans and the remaining 10 per cent by State governments.

Government begins Youth Road Safety Learners Licence programme

• The Central government on 15 Oct launched a training programme which is expected to help achieve its target of reducing road accidents by 50 per cent by 2020. 
• The initiative aims to bring a formal and structured training program for young, first-time drivers as they apply for a learner’s license.
• The initiative is launched in public-private partnership model (PPP) in collaboration with Diageo India and Institute of Road Traffic Education (IRTE).

Foundation stone laid to construct Museum on Prime Ministers of India

• The foundation stone for the Museum on Prime Ministers of India was laid down at the Teen Murti Estate in New Delhi on 15^th Oct.
• The museum is expected to cost Rs. 271 Cr and will be constructed within a year.
• The new museum will include memorabilia of prime ministers, Lal Bahadur Shastri onwards.

Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen passes away

• Microsoft Co-Founder Paul Allen died at 65 from complications of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma.

Yemen: President fires PM Ahmed bin Dagher citing negligence

• Yemeni President Abed Rabbo Mansour Hadi has fired the prime minister Ahmed Bin Dagher, accusing him of "negligence" in running the country.
• He named Maeen Abdulmalik Saeed as the new prime minister.

Air Quality Early Warning System for Delhi launched

• Air Quality Early Warning System for Delhi was launched in Delhi by the Union Minister for Earth Sciences and Environment.

  • The System is designed to predict extreme air pollution events and give alerts to take necessary steps as per Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) of the Govt. of India.
  • The System can predict extreme air pollution events 72 hours in advance and give necessary alerts.
  • It has been developed jointly by the scientists at Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology (IITM), Meteorological Department and National Centre for Medium Range Weather Forecasting (NCMRWF).

100% घरांचे विद्युतीकरणाचे उद्दिष्ट पूर्ण करणार्‍या राज्यांसाठी आणि कर्मचाऱ्यांसाठी ‘सौभाग्य’ योजनेच्या अंतर्गत पुरस्कार योजना

• केंद्रीय ऊर्जा, नवीन आणि नवीकरणीय ऊर्जा मंत्रालयाने राज्यांसाठी ‘सौभाग्य’ योजनेच्या अंतर्गत एक पुरस्कार योजना जाहीर केली आहे. जे राज्य आपल्या कार्यक्षेत्रामध्ये 100% घरांचे विद्युतीकरणाचे उद्दिष्ट वेळापूर्वीच पूर्ण करणार त्या राज्यांना 100 कोटी रुपयांची रक्कम पुरस्काराच्या स्वरुपात दिली जाणार आहे.
• वीज वितरण कंपन्यांच्या व्यतिरिक्त, योजनेच्या अंतर्गत उद्दिष्ट पूर्ण करणार्‍या कर्मचार्‍यांना एकत्रितपणे 50 लक्ष रूपयांचे बक्षीस दिले जाणार आहे.
• देशातल्या आठ राज्यात आतापर्यंत 99% घरांच्या विद्युतीकरणाचे कार्य पूर्ण झाले आहे. ‘सौभाग्य’ योजनेच्या अंतर्गत असे 99% कार्य पूर्ण करणाऱ्या राज्यांमध्ये आंध्रप्रदेश, गुजरात, गोवा, हरियाणा, हिमाचल प्रदेश, केरळ, पंजाब आणि तामिळनाडू यांचा समावेश आहे. मात्र या राज्यांचे संबंधित अधिकारी, कर्मचारी पुरस्कारासाठी पात्र धरले जाणार नाहीत. कर्मचाऱ्यांना तीन विभागात पुरस्कार देण्यात येणार आहेत.

• भारत सरकारने ‘युवा रस्ते सुरक्षा शिकाऊ परवाना कार्यक्रम’ (Youth Road Safety Learners Licence programme) या नावाचा नवा प्रशिक्षण कार्यक्रम सुरू केला आहे.
• वाहन चालनाचा शिकाऊ परवाना मिळविण्यासाठी अर्ज केलेल्या तरुण विद्यार्थ्यांसाठी सुरू करण्यात आलेला हा एक औपचारिक आणि संरचित प्रशिक्षण कार्यक्रम आहे. सन 2020 पर्यंत रस्त्यावर होणार्‍या अपघातांच्या संख्येत 50% पर्यंत घट होण्याचे लक्ष्य साध्य करण्यासाठी मदत करणार.
• डिएगो इंडिया आणि इंस्टीट्यूट ऑफ रोड ट्रॅफिक एज्युकेशन (IRTE) याच्या सहकार्याने सार्वजनिक-खाजगी भागीदारी (PPP) तत्त्वावर हा पुढाकार सुरू करण्यात आला आहे.

दिल्लीत ‘भारतीय पंतप्रधानांविषयीचे संग्रहालय’ उभारले जाणार

• दिल्लीत ‘भारतीय पंतप्रधानांविषयीचे संग्रहालय’ (Museum on Prime Ministers of India) उभारले जाणार आहे. त्याचे बांधकाम सुरू करण्यासाठी कोणशीला ठेवण्यात आली आहे.
• संग्रहालय भारत सरकारच्या केंद्रीय गृह व शहरी कल्याण मंत्रालयाच्या अधीन असणार. ते तीन मुर्ती इस्टेटच्या 10975.36 चौरस मीटर बांधकाम क्षेत्रात उभारले जाणार आहे. प्रस्तावित संग्रहालयात प्रत्येक भारतीय पंतप्रधानांच्या जीवन कार्यांविषयी माहिती असणार.

दिल्लीसाठी ‘हवेची गुणवत्ता पूर्वसूचना प्रणाली’ कार्यरत

• दिल्लीसाठी ‘हवेची गुणवत्ता पूर्वसूचना प्रणाली’ कार्यरत करण्यात आली आहे. ही प्रणाली अत्याधिक वायुप्रदूषण घटनांबाबत 72 तास अगोदर सुचना देण्यासाठी आणि भारत सरकारच्या श्रेणीबद्ध प्रतिसाद कृती योजनेनुसार (Graded Response Action Plan) पावले उचलली जाणार आहेत.
• श्रेणीबद्ध प्रतिसाद कृती योजना ही अत्याधिक वायुप्रदूषण टाळण्यासाठी आपत्कालीन कृती योजना म्हणून तयार करण्यात आली आहे. शहराच्या हवेच्या गुणवत्तेच्या आधारावर योजनेच्या अंतर्गत कडक कारवाई केली जाणार आहे.

IIT-बॉम्बे: भारतीय संस्थांच्या QS क्रमावारीतेमध्ये अग्रस्थानी

• शिक्षण क्षेत्रातल्या QS (क्वाक्वक्लेरी सायमंड्स) या ब्रिटिश खासगी कंपनीने ‘QS वर्ल्ड युनिव्हर्सिटी रँकिंग 2018’ प्रसिद्ध केली आहे. भारताच्या उच्च शिक्षण संस्थांच्या प्रथम QS वर्ल्ड युनिव्हर्सिटी रँकिंगमध्ये प्रथम तीन स्थानी मुंबई आणि मद्रास येथील भारतीय तंत्रज्ञान संस्था (IIT) आणि बेंगळूरूमधील भारतीय विज्ञान संस्था (IISc) या आहेत.
• सोबतच IIT दिल्ली, IIT खरगपूर, IIT कानपूर, हैदराबाद केंद्रीय विद्यापीठ, दिल्ली विद्यापीठ, IIT रुडकी आणि IIT गुवाहाटी हे शीर्ष 10 भारतीय संस्थांमध्ये सामील केले गेले आहेत.

जागतिक अन्न दिन: 16 ऑक्टोबर

• यावर्षीचा जागतिक अन्न दिन ‘अवर अॅक्शन आर अवर फ्युचर’ या विषयाखाली पाळण्यात आला आहे. संयुक्त राष्ट्रसंघाच्या अन्न व कृषी संघटना (UN FAO) याच्या नेतृत्वात जगभरात दरवर्षी 16 ऑक्टोबर या तारखेला जागतिक अन्न दिन पाळला जातो.
• 1945 साली स्थापन करण्यात आलेल्या संयुक्त राष्ट्रसंघाच्या अन्न आणि कृषी संघटना (Food and Agriculture Organization -FAO) याचा स्थापना दिन जागतिक अन्न दिन म्हणून पाळण्याचा निर्णय घेण्यात आला. उपासमारीला संबोधित करण्यासाठी लोकांमध्ये जागरूकता फैलावण्यासाठी सन 1980 पासून 16 ऑक्टोबरला 'जागतिक अन्न दिवस' साजरा करण्याचे सुरू केले गेले. जागतिक लोकसंख्या हळू हळू वाढत आहे आणि ती 2050 सालापर्यंत 9.6 अब्जपर्यंत पोहोचण्याचा अंदाज आहे.

येमेनच्या राष्ट्रपतींनी पंतप्रधानांना देशाकडे दुर्लक्ष केल्याप्रकरणी पदावरून काढले

• येमेनचे राष्ट्रपती राष्ट्रपती आबेद रब्बू मन्सूर हदी यांनी पंतप्रधान अहमद बिन दाघर यांना देश चालविण्यामध्ये दुर्लक्ष केल्याच्या आरोपाखाली पदावरून हटविण्यात आले आहे.
• आता येमेनचे नवे पंतप्रधान म्हणून माईन अब्दुलमलिक सईद यांची निवड करण्यात आली आहे. देशाची कमकुवत आर्थिक कामगिरी पाहता आणि चलनाचे पडते मूल्य रोखण्यात अपयशी ठरल्याच्या आरोपाखाली हा निर्णय घेतला गेला आहे.
• येमेन हा अरब द्वीपकल्पच्या दक्षिणेकडील एक देश आहे. हा दुसरा सर्वात मोठा अरब सार्वभौम राज्य आहे. साना हे देशाचे राजधानी शहर आहे आणि येमेनी रियाल हे राष्ट्रीय चलन आहे.

मायक्रोसॉफ्टचे सहसंस्थापक पॉल अॅलन यांचे निधन

• दिनांक 15 ऑक्टोबर 2018 रोजी मायक्रोसॉफ्ट या सॉफ्टवेअर कंपनीचे सहसंस्थापक पॉल अॅलन यांचे वयाच्या 65व्या वर्षी निधन झाले.
• 1975 साली अॅलन यांनी बिल गेट्स यांच्यासमवेत मायक्रोसॉफ्ट कंपनीची स्थापना केली होती.
