कवि गोपाल दास नीरज का निधन हो गया

• कवि गोपालदास नीरज जी का 19 जुलाई 2018 को लम्बी बीमारी के बाद 93 वर्ष की आयु में निधन हो गया है।

फिल्मफेयर अवार्ड्स से थे सम्मानित

• फिल्मों में कई सुपरहिट गाने लिख चुके कवि गोपालदास नीरज को उनकी लेखनी के लिए कई सम्मान मिल चुके हैं।
• नीरज को फ‍िल्‍म जगत में सर्वश्रेष्ठ गीत लेखन के लिए 70 के दशक में लगातार तीन बार फ‍िल्मफेयर पुरस्कार मिल चुका है।
• नीरज को उत्तर प्रदेश सरकार ने यश भारती पुरस्कार से भी सम्मानित किया था।
• उन्हें 1991 पद्मश्री से और 2007 में पद्मभूषण से भी नवाजा जा चुका है।

 भगोड़ा आर्थिक अपराधी विधेयक लोकसभा में पेश

• पीयूष गोयल ने भगोड़े आर्थिक अपराधियों के कानून के शिकंजे से बचकर देश के बाहर भागने पर उनकी संपत्ति को जब्त करने संबंधी विधेयक को चर्चा के लिए लोकसभा में प्रस्तुत किया, जिसे विपक्ष ने स्थायी समिति में भेजने की मांग की।

          विधेयक पेश करने का जानें कारण

• गोयल ने भगोड़ा आर्थिक अपराधी विधेयक 2018 को पेश करते हुए कहा कि बड़े आर्थिक अपराधियों में भारतीय न्यायालयों के अधिकार क्षेत्र से बचने के लिए विदेश भागने की प्रवृत्ति बढ़ रही है, ऐसे में इस प्रकार का कठोर प्रावधान वाला विधेयक लाया गया है। ताकि इससे लोग न केवल अपराध करने से डरेंगे, बल्कि अपराध करके फरार हुए आरोपी कानून का सामना करने के लिए लौटेंगे भी।
• वित्त मंत्री अरुण जेटली ने इस विधेयक को पिछले सत्र में सदन में पेश किया था, जिसमें कुल 100 करोड़ रुपए अथवा अधिक के ऐसे अपराध करने वालों पर कानून के शिकंजे में लाने के लिए उनकी संपत्ति जब्त करने का प्रावधान किया गया है।

 भ्रष्टाचार निवारण संशोधन विधेयक-2013 को राज्यसभा की मंजूरी

• भ्रष्टाचार पर लगाम कसने व ईमानदार कर्मचारियों को संरक्षण देने के साथ-साथ, रिश्वत देने के आरोपियों को अधिकतम सात साल की सजा के प्रावधान वाले एक महत्वपूर्ण संशोधन विधेयक को 19 जुलाई को राज्यसभा की मंजूरी मिल गयी।
• उच्च सदन ने भ्रष्टाचार निवारण (संशोधन) विधेयक को ध्वनिमत (बिना किसी आवाज के) से पारित कर दिया।
• इस विधेयक में 1988 के मूल कानून को संशोधित करने का प्रावधान है ।

• इस विधेयक में सरकारी कर्मचारी को रिश्‍वत देना एक अपराध बना दिया गया है और इस अपराध के लिए दण्‍ड का प्रावधान किया गया है।
• विधेयक में रिश्‍वत देने को प्रत्‍यक्ष अपराध माना गया है। रिश्‍वत देने के लिए मजबूर किए जाने वाले व्‍यक्ति को अधिकारियों को सात दिन के भीतर सूचना देने की स्थिति में इस कानून के दायरे से मुक्‍त रखा जाएगा।

भारत-अमेरिका के बीच पहली 2+2 वार्ता अब 6 सितंबर को

• भारत और अमेरिका के बीच पहली टू-प्लस-टू (2+2) वार्ता 6 सितंबर को दिल्ली में होगी।
• इस बातचीत के लिए अमेरिकी विदेश मंत्री माइक पोम्पिओ और अमेरिकी रक्षा मंत्री जेम्स मैटिस दिल्ली आएंगे।
• विदेश मंत्री सुषमा स्वराज और रक्षा मंत्री निर्मला सीतारमण, अमेरिकी विदेश मंत्री माइक पोम्पिओ और अमेरिकी रक्षा मंत्री जेम्स मैटिस के साथ इस बैठक में भाग लेंगी।
• इस वार्ता में दोनों देश रणनीतिक, सुरक्षा और रक्षा सहयोग को मजबूत बनाने पर चर्चा करेंगे। टू-प्लस-टू (2+2) वार्ता की घोषणा पिछले साल व्हाइट हाउस में राष्ट्रपति डोनाल्ड ट्रम्प और प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी की बैठक के बाद की गई थी।

दो बार स्थगित कर चुका है अमेरिका

• बता दें कि अमेरिका इस साल दो बार इस वार्ता की तारीख तय होने के बावजूद इसे स्थगित कर चुका है।
• पहली बार इस वार्ता का आयोजन अप्रैल में किया जाना था, लेकिन अमेरिकी राष्ट्रपति डोनाल्ड ट्रंप के तत्कालीन विदेश मंत्री रेक्स टिलरसन को हटा दिए जाने के कारण इसे स्थगित करना पड़ा था।
• दूसरी बार अमेरिका ने भारत के साथ पिछले दिनों आयात पर बढ़े शुल्क को लेकर बने तनाव के माहौल में इसका आयोजन स्थगित किया था।

 कोच्चि में रक्षा सचिव ने की स्वदेशी विमान वाहक परियोजना की समीक्षा

• रक्षा सचिव संजय मित्रा ने 19 जुलाई को कोचीन शिपयार्ड लिमिटेड में स्वदेशी विमान वाहक (Indigenous Aircraft Carrier 'IAC') परियोजना की समीक्षा की।
• इस दौरान उनके साथ वाइस एडमिरल अजीत कुमार, एवीएसएम, वीएसएम, नौसेना के वाइस चीफ, वाइस एडमिरल डीएम देशपांडे, एवीएसएम, वीएसएम, कंट्रोलर वारशिप प्रोडक्शन और अधिग्रहण, सतिंदर पाल सिंह, आईपीएस, संयुक्त सचिव (शिपिंग) भी थे।
• आपको बता दें, कि यह भारत में डिजाइन और निर्माण किए जाने वाले पहले विमान वाहकों में से एक है, जिसे अगस्त 2013 में लॉन्च किया गया था और वर्तमान में मुख्य प्रणोदन संयंत्र, बिजली उत्पादन उपकरण, डेक मशीनरी और सहायक उपकरणो को बोर्ड पर स्थापित और एकीकृत किया गया है।
• इसमें मौजूद विभिन्न विमानन उपकरण, नेविगेशन और संचार उपकरण, हथियार और सेंसर में सुधार किया जा रहा है।

• क्या होगा असर : इससे आम आदमी सहित सभी हितधारकों द्वारा इस्तेमाल किए जाने वाले पेट्रोलियम उत्पादों का न सिर्फ उच्चतम मानक गुणवत्ता पारिस्थितिकी तंत्र को बनाए रखना सुनिश्चित होगा, बल्कि सीआरएमएस के लिए निर्यात प्रतिस्थापन के जरिये विदेशी मुद्रा की बचत भी होगी।

 आरबीआई जारी करेगी 100 रुपये के नए नोट

• रिज़र्व बैंक ऑफ़ इंडिया जल्द ही 100 रुपए का नया नोट जारी करने वाला है।
• ये नोट बैंगनी रंग का होगा इस नोट के डिजाइन को अंतिम रूप मैसूर की उसी प्रिंटिंग प्रेस में दिया गया है, जहां 2000 के नोट की छपाई होती है।

क्या होगा खास?

• दिखने में यह नोट 100 रुपए के मौजूदा नोट से छोटा और 10 रुपए के नोट से बड़ा होगा।
• इस नोट में जहां 100 अंक लिखा होगा वहां आर-पार देखा जा सकेगा।
• इस नोट के पीछे भारत की सांस्कृतिक झलक के तौर पर गुजरात के पाटन स्थित 'रानी की वाव’ की झलक देखने को मिलेगी।
• रानी की वाव का निर्माण 11वीं शताब्दी में किया गया था और यह यूनेस्को वर्ल्ड हेरिटेज साइट में शामिल है। इस बावड़ी को सोलंकी साम्राज्य के समय बनाया गया था।

 सरकार ने गन्ने की कीमत 20 रुपए प्रति क्विंटल बढ़ाई

• सरकार ने गन्ने का FRP (गन्ने का उचित एवं लाभकारी मूल्य) बढ़ा कर 275 रुपये प्रति क्विंटल करने की इजाजत दे दी है।
• कैबिनेट की बैठक में आर्थिक मामलों की कमेटी ने मार्केटिंग ईयर (विपणन वर्ष) 2018-19 के लिए गन्ने का FRP 20 रुपये प्रति क्विंटल से बढ़ाने के प्रस्ताव को मंजूरी दी है।
• आपको बता दें, कि राज्य सरकारें एफआरपी के ऊपर अपना परामर्श मूल्य (SAP) भी तय करती है।

• दरअसल गन्ने का दाम हर साल इसकी खेती का सीजन शुरू होने से पहले घोषित किया जाता है। इसे फेयर एंड रीम्यूनेरेटिव प्राइस (एफआरपी) कहते हैं।
• चीनी मिल इस कीमत पर किसानों से गन्ना खरीदती है।

 संबलपुर में मछली के नमूने में फॉर्मेलिन मिला

• 19 जुलाई को संबलपुर शहर (ओडिसा) से एकत्रित मछली के नमूनों में कैंसर के रासायनिक औपचारिकता को प्रेरित करने वाले निशान पाए गए हैं।
• कुललकान नगर निगम के संयुक्त दल और जिला मत्स्यपालन और पशु संसाधन विकास विभाग के अधिकारियों ने कुलुताकांही क्षेत्र के एक मछली बाजार में 'खुरुसिया रोही' और 'काला बेंसी' मछलियों के दो नमूने पर एक ऑन-स्पॉट परीक्षण किया और पाया की इसमें कैंसर के रासायनिक औपचारिकता को प्रेरित करने वाले निशान है।
• आपको बता दें, कि इंस्टीट्यूट ऑफ फ्रेशवॉटर एक्वाकल्चर (सीआईएफए) द्वारा इस टीम को एक किट (सीआईएफ) दी गयी थी, जिसकी मदद से यह परीक्षण आयोजित किया गया था।
• बाजार में उपलब्ध मछलियों में से लगभग 90 प्रतिशत 'काला बेंसी' हैं और नमूने का परीक्षण करते समय, इसमें फॉर्मल्डेहाइड (एक प्रकार की गैस) मिली है।

           Lok Sabha passes Fugitive Economic Offenders Bill

• The Lok Sabha passed the Fugitive Economic Offenders Bill, 2018 with the majority of the house supporting it. The bill will now empower authorities to attach and confiscate the properties and assets of economic offenders like loan defaulters who flee the country.
• Meanwhile, the Rajya Sabha has passed amendments to Prevention of corruption act bill (2013).
• A fugitive economic offender is any individual against whom a warrant for arrest in relation to a scheduled offence has been issued by any court in India and who has either left India to avoid criminal prosecution, or who, being abroad, refuses to return to India to face criminal prosecution.

What happens if a person is designated a fugitive economic offender?

• If the special court is satisfied that an individual is a fugitive economic offender, it can direct the Central government to confiscate the proceeds of the crime in India or abroad, whether or not such property is owned by the fugitive economic offender, and any other property or benami property in India or abroad that is owned by the fugitive economic offender.

Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Bill passed in Rajya Sabha

• An anti-corruption bill that seeks to punish bribe givers for the first time with imprisonment of up to a maximum of seven years was passed by Rajya Sabha.
• The Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Bill, that amends certain provisions of a 30-year-old anti-corruption law, was passed by the Upper House unanimously with voice vote.
• Key Provisions:
• The bill has many provisions to ensure speedy trial of corruption cases besides providing protection to bureaucrats, even after their retirement, from malicious complaints.
• The Bill will now go to Lok Sabha.
• For the bribe takers, the bill proposes to increase the punishment to a minimum of three years of imprisonment, which may extend to seven years, besides fine.
• The bribe givers shall be punished up to seven years of imprisonment or with fine or both, according to the bill. Bribe givers are not covered in any of the domestic legislations to check corruption.
• Instances of corruption and provisions to punish the guilty are provided in the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.
• The bill proposes a 'shield' for government employees, including those retired, from prosecution by making it mandatory for investigating agencies like the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to take prior approval from competent authority before conducting any enquiry against them.
• No police officer shall conduct any enquiry or investigation into any offence alleged to have been committed by a public servant under this Act, where the alleged offence is relatable to any recommendation made or decision taken by such public servant in discharge of his official functions or duties, without the previous approval.

India, US to hold first 'two-plus-two dialogue' in New Delhi

• US State Department has announced that the inaugural 'two-plus-two dialogue' between India and the United States will be held in New Delhi on September 6.
• Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and Defence Secretary James Mattis will travel to India for the dialogue with External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.
• India and US will discuss strengthening of strategic, security and defence cooperation as both the nations jointly address challenges in the Indo-Pacific region and beyond.
• The dialogue was announced last year during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's meeting with President Donald Trump at the White House.
• The dialogue is seen as a vehicle to elevate the strategic relationship between the two countries.
• The new format would include External Affairs Minister and Defence Minister from India and their American counterparts Secretary of State and Defence Secretary.

Defence Secretary Reviews Indigenous Aircraft Carrier Project at Kochi

• The Indigenous Aircraft Carrier (IAC) Project was reviewed by Shri Sanjay Mitra, IAS, the Defence Secretary at Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL) on 19 Jul 18.
• During the onboard visit, the Defence Secretary was given a first-hand briefing on the progress of IAC construction by Commodore Cyril Thomas, the Warship Production Superintendent..

• The current government in its first year cleared 39 capital procurement proposals, of which 32 proposals worth ₹889 billion (US$13 billion) (or 96% of value of total proposals) were categorized as Buy (Indian) and Buy and Make (Indian)—the top two prioritized domestic industry-centric procurement categories as per the defence procurement procedure (DPP)

CSIR-NPL, HPCL signs MoU for indigenous development of petroleum CRMs

• CSIR- National Physical laboratory (NPL) has signed a MoU with Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) for indigenous development of petroleum certified reference materials (CRMs) under trade name of Bhartiya Niredeshak Dravyas (BNDTM).
• This will not only ensure maintaining highest  standard quality ecosystem for petroleum products used by all stakeholders including common man but also will save vital foreign exchange through import substitution for CRMs.
• Certified Reference Materials (CRMs) play a pivotal role for the calibration of laboratory testing equipment for quality assurance. At present the traceability of these CRMs to SI unit is mostly achieved through foreign National Measurement Institutes (NMIs). CSIR-NPL, the National Measurement Institute of India is disseminating SI traceability through indigenous development of Certified Indian Reference Materials with trade name BhartiyaNirdeshakDrvayas(BNDTM).. Recently, CSIR-NPL has developed BNDs for high purity Gold, Coal, and Water & building materials.
• HPCL, a Navratna PSU under Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas (MoPNG) is a pioneer in producing CRMs in India in the field of petroleum sector under Make in India initiative. CSIR NPL & HPCL have now joined hands to be part of the national initiative for developing BNDs used in Petroleum sector in India.
• Certified Reference Materials (CRMs) are 'controls' or standards used to check the quality and metrological traceability of products, to validate analytical measurement methods, or for the calibration of instruments. A certified reference material is a particular form of measurement standard.

RBI to issue new 100 Rupee notes with motif of 'Rani Ki Vav'

• The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has given a lavender wash to the new Rs. 100 note which will be in circulation by next month.
• The new violet note is part of the revised design series introduced after demonetization in November 2016.
• The latest variant features Gujarat's 'Rani Ki Vav' (queen's stepwell) along with the Swachh Bharat logo and slogan on its reverse. Gandhi ji's placement remains the same.
• All the Rs. 100 notes issued by the Reserve Bank in the earlier series will continue to be legal tender.
• The new note is slightly smaller than the existing one and bigger than the Rs. 10 note. Once the new notes arrive, the banks may have to again recalibrate the ATMs to accommodate the new notes, after settings had to be changed to dispense new notes of Rs. 2,000, 500 and 200 notes in 2016.
• In 2014, UNESCO had recognised Gujarat's 'Rani-ki-Vav', the 11th-century wonder in Patan, as a World Heritage Site. It will make a grand debut on new Rs. 100 note.
• The 200-rupee note with a base colour of bright yellow bears the motif of Sanchi Stupa. The chocolate brown Rs. 10 note has Konark Sun Temple on the reverse side. The fluorescent blue Rs. 50 notes features Stone Chariot in Hampi, another world heritage site recognised by UNESCO.

Govt hikes sugarcane price by Rs. 20 per quintal to Rs. 275 rupees

• The government decided to increase the minimum price sugar mills pay to cane growers by Rs 20 per quintal to Rs 275 per quintal for the next marketing year starting October.
• The decision to increase the Fair and Remunerative Price (FRP) of sugarcane for the 2018-19 marketing year was taken by the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA).
• The government had recently announced a sharp increase in the minimum support price (MSP) of kharif (summer-sown) crops, including paddy.
• The Commission for Agricultural Costs and Prices (CACP) had recommended Rs 20 per quintal hike in the FRP of sugarcane at Rs 275 per quintal for the next season.
• The FRP, which is the minimum price that sugar mills have to pay to sugarcane farmers, is Rs 255 per quintal for the 2017-18 season.
• The CACP is a statutory body that advises the government on the pricing policy for major farm produce. Usually, the government accepts the CACP recommendations.
• Major sugarcane producing states such as Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and Haryana fix their own sugarcane price called 'state advisory prices' (SAPs), which are usually higher than the Centre's FRP.
• Sugar production in India, the world's second-largest producer after Brazil, is estimated to reach a record 32.25 million tonnes in the current 2017-18 marketing year.(October-September)

Hindi poet Gopal Das Neeraj passes away

• Doyen of Hindi poetry Gopal Das Neeraj passed away at the AIIMS trauma centre in Delhi. He was 93.
• A Padma Bhushan awardee, Gopal Das Neeraj had suffered a head injury following a fall at his house in Agra and was undergoing treatment at a hospital there.
• The poet had also written songs for Bollywood films.
• Gopal Das Neeraj was awarded Padma Shri in 1991 and Padma Bhushan in 2007.

Formalin found in fish samples in Sambalpur: Official

• Traces of cancer inducing chemical formalin were found in fish samples collected from Sambalpur town. A joint team of Sambalpur Municipal Corporation and officials of the District Fisheries and Animal Resources Development Department while raiding a fish market at Kulutakanhi area conducted an on-spot test on two samples of ‘Khurusia Rohi’ and ‘Kala Bainsi’ fishes and found presence of the chemical in it.
• The tests were conducted with the help of the CIF kit provided by the Central Institute of Freshwater Aquaculture (CIFA).
• The samples will be sent to laboratory in Bhubaneswar for detailed examination.

IOC adds 7 medal events to 2022 Beijing Winter Games program

• Planning for its next three Olympic Games, the IOC added seven medal events to the 2022 Beijing Winter Games, published a 2020 Tokyo Olympics schedule with no agreement on when to race swimming finals, and set a timetable to add new sports to the 2024 Paris Olympics.
• The next Winter Olympics will now include: women’s monobob, Big Air freestyle skiing for men and women, plus mixed team events in short track speed skating, ski jumping, ski aerials and snow board cross.
• In an attempt to cut organizing costs, amid recent failures of potential bidders in Europe for the 2026 Winter Games, there should be no additional venues required and 41 fewer athletes in Beijing than the 2,933 competitors at the Pyeongchang Olympics in Feb,2017.
• Sports losing athletes from their Olympic quota include 41 in skiing disciplines, 26 from skating, and 20 fewer in biathlon.
• The International Olympic Committee (IOC; French: Comité International Olympique, CIO) is a Swiss private non-governmental organisation based in Lausanne, Switzerland, which is the authority responsible for the modern Olympic Games.

लोकसभेत ‘फरार आर्थिक गुन्हेगार विधेयक-2018’ मंजूर

• लोकसभेत ‘फरार आर्थिक गुन्हेगार विधेयक-2018’ मंजूर करण्यात आलेला आहे. हे विधेयक राष्ट्रपती राम नाथ कोविंद यांनी एप्रिलमध्ये यासंबंधी काढलेल्या अध्यादेशाची जागा घेईल.  
• भारतीय न्यायालयांच्या अधिकार क्षेत्राबाहेर राहून भारतीय कायदेशीर प्रक्रिया टाळण्याची आर्थिक गुन्हेगारांची प्रवृत्ती रोखण्यासाठी  कठोर  उपाययोजना आखण्यात मदत म्हणून अध्यादेशामार्फत देशात ‘फरार आर्थिक गुन्हेगार विधेयक 2018’ (Fugitive Economic Offenders Bill) लागू करण्यात आला आहे. अशा प्रकरणात न्यायालयावर अधिक भार येऊ नये यासाठी 100 कोटी किंवा त्याहून अधिक रक्कम असलेले गुन्हेच या विधेयकाच्या चौकटीत आणण्यात आले आहेत.

भ्रष्टाचार प्रतिबंधक (दुरूस्ती) विधेयक राज्यसभेत मंजूर

• राज्यसभेत भ्रष्टाचार प्रतिबंधक (दुरूस्ती) विधेयक-2018 आवाजी मतदानाने मंजूर करण्यात आले आहे, ज्यामध्ये शासकीय सेवकांना लाच देणे गुन्हा ठरविण्यात आला आहे आणि अशा बाबतीत कारावासाची शिक्षा देण्याची तरतूद आहे. हे विधेयक 1988 सालच्या कायद्यात दुरूस्ती करणार.
• हे विधेयक लाच देणे हा प्रत्यक्ष गुन्हा म्हणून ठरवत आहे. तथापि, ज्या व्यक्तीला लाच देणे भाग पाडले गेले आहे त्याला गुन्हेगार ठरविण्यात येणार नाही, जर त्याने त्याबद्दल सात दिवसांच्या आत कायद्याची अंमलबजावणी करणार्‍या अधिकार्‍यांना कळविलेले असेल. लाच घेणार्‍याला सात वर्षापर्यंत कारावास किंवा आर्थिक दंड किंवा दोन्ही शिक्षा म्हणून दिली जाणार.

पेट्रोलियम CRMच्या स्वदेशी विकासासाठी CSIR-NPL, HPCL यांच्यात करार

• भारतीय निर्देशक द्रव्याज (BNDTM) या ट्रेड नावाखाली पेट्रोलियम प्रमाणित संदर्भ सामग्री (certified reference materials -CRM) यांच्या स्वदेशी विकासासाठी CSIR-राष्ट्रीय भौतिक प्रयोगशाळा (NPL) याने हिंदुस्तान पेट्रोलियम कॉर्पोरेशन लिमिटेड (HPCL) सोबत एक सामंजस्य करार केला आहे.
• यामुळे केवळ पेट्रोलियम उत्पादनांसाठी उच्चतम गुणवत्ता राखण्याची खात्री बाळगली जाणार नाही तर पेट्रोलियम उत्पादनांसाठी पर्यावरणीय मानक दर्जा देखील राखणार. यामुळे अश्या पदार्थांची आयात कमी केली जाऊ शकणार. CRM गुणवत्ता आश्वासनाची खात्री बाळगण्यासाठी प्रयोगशाळेतल्या उपकरणाच्या कॅलिब्रेशनमध्ये महत्वाची भूमिका बजावते.
• CSIR-NPL ही भारतीय राष्ट्रीय मापन संस्था भारतीय निर्देशक द्रव्याज (BNDTM) या ट्रेड नावासह स्वदेशी प्रमाणित भारतीय संदर्भ पदार्थांच्या स्वदेशी विकासातून SI मापन पद्धती वापरते. अलीकडेच संस्थेने उच्च शुद्धतेचे सोने, कोळसा, पाणी आणि बांधकाम साहित्यासाठी BND विकसित केले आहे.
• वैज्ञानिक व औद्योगिक संशोधन परिषद (CSIR) ही भारत सरकारच्या विज्ञान व तंत्रज्ञान मंत्रालयाची एक स्वायत्त संस्था आहे. याची स्थापना 26 सप्टेंबर 1942 रोजी करण्यात आली. याच्या देशभरात 39 प्रयोगशाळा (ज्यात 5 क्षेत्रीय संशोधन प्रयोगशाळा) आणि 50 क्षेत्रीय केंद्रे आहेत.

ऊसाच्या दरात वाढ; क्विंटलमागे 275 रुपयांपर्यंतची वाढ

• केंद्र शासनाने ऊसाच्या योग्य, वाजवी दरात वाढ करत या ऑक्टोबरपासून सुरू होणार्‍या पुढील विपणन वर्षासाठी एका क्विंटलला 275 रूपये एवढा दरनिश्चित केलेला आहे. यापूर्वी हा दर रु. 20 प्रति क्विंटल एवढा होता.
• आर्थिक विषयावरील मंत्रिमंडळ समितीने 2018-19च्या साखर हंगामासाठी हे दर निश्चित केले, जे साखरेच्या 10%च्या आधारभूत रिकव्हरी दरासाठी साखर उत्पादक देय करतील.

‘भारत-अमेरिका 2+2 संवाद’ नवी दिल्लीत होणार

• 6 सप्टेंबर 2018 रोजी नवी दिल्लीत ‘भारत-अमेरिका 2+2 संवाद’ ही उद्घाटनपर बैठक आयोजित करण्यात आली आहे.  गेल्या महिन्यात अमेरिकेने 'अपरिहार्य कारणांमुळे' हा संवाद रद्द केला होता.
• यात अमेरिकेचे सेक्रेटरी ऑफ स्टेट माईक पोम्पेओ आणि संरक्षण सचिव जेम्स मॅटिस तर भारताच्या परराष्ट्र मंत्री सुषमा स्वराज आणि संरक्षण मंत्री निर्मला सीतारामन हे संवाद साधणार आहेत.
• अमेरिका (संयुक्त राज्य अमेरिका/USA) हा अमेरिका खंडातला उत्तरेकडील एक देश आहे. वॉशिंग्टन डी.सी. हे राजधानी शहर आहे आणि अमेरिकन डॉलर (USD) हे चलन आहे.

RBI ने 100 रुपयांची नवीन बँकनोट प्रसिद्ध केली

• भारतीय रिझर्व्ह बँकेकडून (RBI) 100 रुपये मूल्य असलेली नवीन बँकनोट प्रसिद्ध केली आहे. ही नोट लवकरच चलनात येईल.
• या नोटाचा रंग हलका जांभळा (लॅवेंडर) आहे. यावर वारसा असलेल्या गुजरातच्या ऐतिहासिक ‘राणी की वाव’ (राणीची विहीर) याची प्रतिमा छापलेली आहे. नव्या नोटांसह जुन्या नोटासुद्धा चलनात राहतील.

2022 बीजिंग हिवाळी क्रिडा स्पर्धांमध्ये 7 नव्या क्रिडाप्रकारांचा समावेश

• 2022 साली चीनमध्ये होणार्‍या ‘बीजिंग हिवाळी क्रिडा’ स्पर्धांमध्ये 7 नव्या क्रिडाप्रकारांचा समावेश करण्याचा निर्णय आंतरराष्ट्रीय ऑलंपिक समितीने घेतलेला आहे.
• आगामी हिवाळी ऑलंपिक खेळांमध्ये महिलांचा मोनोबॉब, पुरूष आणि महिलांसाठी बिग एअर फ्रीस्टाईल स्किलींग, स्पीड स्केटिंग आणि स्काय जंपींग, स्की एरीयल्स आणि स्नोबोर्डक्रॉस हे नवे प्रकार मिश्र सांघिक गटात घेतले जातील. या नव्या क्रिडाप्रकारामुळे आता 7 नव्या पदकांचा समावेश होईल.
• आंतरराष्ट्रीय ऑलंपिक समिती (IOC) हे जागतिक ऑलंपिक चळवळीचे सर्वोच्च प्राधिकरण आहे. स्वित्झर्लंडमधील लुसाने येथे याचे मुख्यालय आहे. IOC ची निर्मिती पिअरे डी कौर्बर्टिन यांनी 23 जून 1894 रोजी केली आणि डेमेट्रीओस विकेलस यांची प्रथम अध्यक्ष म्हणून नियुक्ती केली. याचे 105 सक्रिय सदस्य, 32 मानद सदस्य, 2 प्रतिष्ठित सदस्य (सेनेगल आणि अमेरिका) आहेत.

संबलपूरमध्ये मासळीत फॉमलिन आढळले

• ओडिशा राज्याच्या संबलपूरमध्ये गोळा करण्यात आलेल्या मासळीच्या नमुन्यांमध्ये फॉमलिन हे विषारी रसायन आढळून आले आहे.
• फॉमलिन हे एक विषारी द्रव आहे, जे मेलेल्या मासळ्या साठवून ठेवण्यासाठी वापरले जाते.

व्यक्ती विशेष

हिंदी कवी गोपाल दास नीरज यांचे निधन

• हिंदीचे प्रसिद्ध कवी आणि गीतकार गोपाल दास नीरज यांचे 19 जुलै 2018 रोजी आग्रा येथे निधन झाले. ते 94 वर्षांचे होते.
• गोपाल दास नीरज यांचा जन्म 4 जानेवारी 1924 रोजी उत्तर प्रदेशातल्या इटावा जिल्ह्यात पुरावली गावामध्ये झाला. त्यांना 1991 साली ‘पद्मश्री’, 2007 साली ‘पद्मभूषण’ने सन्मानित करण्यात आले. 1970, 1971 आणि 1972 साली त्यांना  ‘फिल्म फेयर’ पुरस्काराने सन्मानित करण्यात आले. ‘मेरा नाम जोकर’ या चित्रपटातील ‘ए भाई! जरा देख के चलो’ हे त्यांचेच प्रसिद्ध गीत.

संरक्षण आणि सुरक्षा

संरक्षण सचिवांनी कोची येथील स्वदेशी विमानवाहू जहाज प्रकल्पाचे पुनरावलोकन केले

• संरक्षण सचिव संजय मित्रा यांनी 19 जुलै 2018 रोजी कोचीन शिपयार्ड लिमिटेड (CSL) येथे चाललेल्या स्वदेशी विमानवाहू जहाज (Indigenous Aircraft Carrier -IAC) प्रकल्पाचे पुनरावलोकन केले आहे.
• या प्रकल्पाच्या अंतर्गत तयार करण्यात आलेले जहाज पहिल्यांदा ऑगस्ट 2013 मध्ये कार्यरत करण्यात आले आणि आता त्यावर मुख्य प्रॉपल्शन केंद्र, वीज निर्मिती उपकरणे, डेक यंत्रणा आणि सहायक उपकरणे बसवण्यात आलेली आहेत. शिवाय जहाजाला विविध उड्डयण उपकरणे, सुचालन आणि दळणवळण उपकरणे, शस्त्रास्त्रे आणि संवेदकांनी सुसज्जित केले जात आहे. हे जहाज 2020 सालापर्यंत सागरी चाचण्या सुरू करू शकते.
