आंगनवाड़ी योजनाओं और मिड-डे मील के तहत दूध की आपूर्ति करने के लिए राज्यों में सहमति

• राजस्थान समेत अधिकतर राज्य आंगनवाड़ी और मिड-डे मील योजना के तहत हफ्ते में दो दिन दूध की आपूर्ति करने पर सहमत हैं।
• उद्देश्य : इस पहल का मकसद अधिशेष भंडार का उपयोग करना तथा यह सुनिश्चित करना है कि किसानों को बेहतर मूल्य मिले।

          मामला क्या था

• महाराष्ट्र जैसे प्रमुख दूध उत्पादक राज्यों में किसान तनाव में हैं। इसका करण है कि दूध का खरीद मूल्य घटना, जबकि अधिशेष उत्पादन के चलते स्किम्ड मिल्क (दूध का पाउडर) और सफेद मक्खन का भारी स्टॉक जमा हो गया है। इस संबंध में हाल ही में महाराष्ट्र में किसानों ने जबरदस्त विरोध भी किया था।
• वर्तमान समय में देश में 2.30 लाख तन दूध के पाउडर का स्टॉक है, जबकि सफ़ेद मक्खन का स्टॉक 60,000 से 70,000 टन है।

कैथलीन बेकर ने अमेरिकी तैराकी चैंपियनशिप में 100 मीटर बैकस्ट्रोक में नया विश्व रिकॉर्ड बनाया

• रियो ओलिंपिक में सिल्वर मेडल जीतने वाली कैथलीन बेकर ने कनाडा की काइली मासे के रिकॉर्ड को तोड़ा, जिन्होंने पिछले साल 25 जुलाई को बुडापेस्ट में विश्व चैंपियनशिप में 58.10 का समय लेकर यह रिकॉर्ड बनाया था।
• अपने इस प्रदर्शन की बदौलत उन्होंने जापान में होने वाली पैन पैसिफिक चैंपियनशिप और साउथ कोरिया में वर्ल्ड चैंपियनशिप के लिए क्वालिफाई कर लिया है।
• सबसे कम समय में 100 मीटर तय करने वाली महिला तैराक हैं -

1- कैथलीन बेकर: 58.00 सेकंड
2- माइली मासे: 58.10 सेकंड
3- गेम्मा स्पॉफोर्ट: 58.12 सेकंड

बदहाल थर्मल पावर प्रोजेक्ट के मुद्दों को हल करने के लिए उच्चस्तरीय अधिकारित समिति का गठन

• केंद्र सरकार ने बदहाल थर्मल पावर परियोजनाओं के मुद्दों को हल करने के लिए कैबिनेट सचिव पी के सिन्हा की अध्यक्षता में एक उच्च स्तरीय अधिकारित समिति की स्थापना का फैसला किया है।
• 29 जुलाई 2018 की शाम को जारी एक आधिकारिक बयान में कहा गया है कि समिति समस्याओं को हल करने और ईंधन आवंटन नीति और नियामक ढांचे में किए गए परिवर्तनों सहित निवेश की दक्षता को अधिकतम करने के दृष्टिकोण के साथ विभिन्न मुद्दों पर विचार करेगी।

          उच्च स्तरीय अधिकारित समिति का कार्य

• यह बिजली की बिक्री को सुविधाजनक बनाने, समय पर भुगतान सुनिश्चित करने, भुगतान सुरक्षा तंत्र, प्रावधान मानदंडों / दिवालियापन और दिवालियापन संहिता (आईबीसी), संपत्ति पुनर्गठन कंपनी के नियमों और परिसंपत्तियों के पुनरुत्थान के लिए अन्य प्रस्तावों में आवश्यक परिवर्तनों को भी सुनिश्चित करेगा।

शिलांग में मेघालय मिल्क मिशन लॉन्च

• 29 जुलाई 2018 को शिलांग में 'मेघालय मिल्क मिशन' के लॉन्चिंग कार्यक्रम में राष्ट्रीय सहकारी विकास निगम (एनसीडीसी) के माध्यम से 215 करोड़ रुपये की स्वीकृत परियोजना की घोषणा की गयी।
• केंद्रीय कृषि और किसान कल्याण मंत्री राधा मोहन सिंह ने कहा कि 'मेघालय मिल्क मिशन' राज्य में दूध व्यापार को बढ़ावा देने के माध्यम से 2022 तक किसान की आय को दोगुना करने के केंद्र के लक्ष्य को हासिल करने में मदद करेगा।

          क्या होगा असर

• मंत्री ने कहा कि मेघालय मिल्क मिशन, ग्रामीण लोगों के लिए डेयरी सेक्टर में वैकल्पिक आजीविका पैदा करेगा। अगले चार वर्षों में इस मिशन द्वारा 2000 किसानों को सीधे फायदा होगा।
• मंत्री ने कहा कि मेघालय मिल्क मिशन, डेयरी सेक्टर में संगठित विपणन (organised marketing) चैनलों की अनुपस्थिति की भी जांच करेगा।

• इस परियोजना में 2000 डेयरी फार्म इकाइयां शामिल हैं, एक इकाई में 5 गायों, शेड निर्माण (shed constructions), भंडारण कक्ष निर्माण, पशु बीमा, 500 लीटर क्षमता के 79 थोक दूध कूलर, 3000 लीटर क्षमता के 13 दूध टैंकर आदि खरीदने का प्रावधान है। परियोजना में किसानों के प्रशिक्षण के लिए 1 करोड़ रुपये का प्रावधान भी है।

विश्वभर में 29 जुलाई को अंतरराष्ट्रीय बाघ दिवस 2018 मनाया गया

• अवैध शिकार और वनों के नष्ट होने के कारण विभिन्न देशों में बाघों की संख्या में काफी कमी आई है, ऐसे में बाघ संरक्षण हेतु 29 जुलाई 2018 को अंतरराष्ट्रीय बाघ दिवस मनाया जाता है।
• उद्देश्य : इस दिवस को मनाने का उद्देश्य जंगली बाघों के निवास के संरक्षण एवं विस्तार को बढ़ावा देने के साथ बाघों के संरक्षण के प्रति जागरूकता बढ़ाना है।

• वर्तमान में बाघों की संख्या अपने न्यूनतम स्तर पर है। पिछले 100 वर्षों में बाघों की आबादी का लगभग 97 फीसदी खत्म हो चुकी है।
• 'वर्ल्ड वाइल्ड लाइफ फंड' और 'ग्लोबल टाइगर फोरम' के 2016 के आंकड़ों के मुताबिक, पूरी दुनिया में लगभग 6000 बाघ ही बचे हैं, जिनमें से 3891 बाघ भारत में हैं। वर्ष 1915 में बाघों की संख्या एक लाख थी।

          अंतरराष्ट्रीय बाघ दिवस के बारे में

• अंतरराष्ट्रीय बाघ दिवस 29 जुलाई को मनाने का फैसला वर्ष 2010 में सेंट पिट्सबर्ग बाघ समिट में लिया गया था, क्योंकि तब जंगली बाघ विलुप्त होने के कगार पर थे।
• इस सम्मेलन में बाघ की आबादी वाले 13 देशों ने वादा किया था कि वर्ष 2022 तक वे बाघों की आबादी दोगुनी कर देंगे।

प्रधानमंत्री ने उत्तर प्रदेश में विभिन्न परियोजनाओं का शिलान्यास किया

• प्रधानमंत्री नरेन्द्र मोदी ने 29 जुलाई 2018 को उत्तर प्रदेश की राजधानी लखनऊ का दौरा किया।
• इस दौरान उन्होंने उत्तर प्रदेश में लगभग 60,000 करोड़ रुपये की कुल लागत के साथ 81 परियोजनाओं को शुरु किए जाने से संबंधित समारोहों में भाग लिया।
• प्रधानमंत्री ने कहा कि इन रियोजनाओं से 2 लाख से ज्यादा नौकरियां पैदा होने की उम्मीद है।
• ये परियोजनाएं राज्य में निवेश को आकर्षित करने एवं औद्योगिकीकरण को बढ़ावा देने के लिए फरवरी, 2018 में आयोजित उत्तर प्रदेश निवेशक सम्मेलन के कुछ ही महीनों के भीतर अस्तित्व में आ गई हैं।

भारतीय पहलवान बजरंग-पिंकी ने जीता स्वर्ण

• भारतीय पहलवान बजरंग पुणिया ने 29 जुलाई 2018 को तुर्की के इस्ताम्बुल में 'यासर दोगु अंतरराष्ट्रीय रैंकिंग कुश्ती टूर्नामेंट' में 71 किग्रा फ्रीस्टाइल में स्वर्ण पदक जीता।
• महिलाओं के वर्ग में पिंकी स्वर्ण पदक जीतने वालीं एकमात्र पहलवान रहीं। पिंकी ने 55 किग्रा भार वर्ग के फाइनल में यूक्रेन की ओल्गा शानिडर को 6-3 से हराया।
• एक अन्य मुकाबले में संदीप तोमर को रजत और विक्की ने 57 किग्रा में कांस्य पदक अपने नाम किया।
• इस टूर्नामेंट में दो स्वर्ण, तीन रजत और चार कांस्य सहित कुल दस पदक अपने नाम किए, जिसमें 7 पदक महिलाओं ने हासिल किए।

पाकिस्तान के प्रधानमंत्री के रूप में शपथ ग्रहण करेंगे इमरान खान

• इमरान खान की पार्टी पाकिस्तान तहरीक-ए-इंसाफ (पीटीआई) ने इसकी घोषणा करते हुए कहा की पाकिस्तान के स्वतंत्रता दिवस से पहले इमरान खान प्रधानमंत्री के रूप में शपथ ग्रहण करेंगे।
• चूँकि पीटीआई के पास बहुमत से 12 सीटें कम हैं इसलिए उनकी पार्टी सरकार बनाने के लिए पीटीआई छोटे दलों और निर्दलियों को साथ लाने के कवायद में जुटी है।
• 25 जुलाई को हुए आम चुनावों में राष्ट्रीय संसद में सबसे बड़ी पार्टी के रूप में उभरने के बाद भी पीटीआई के पास सरकार बनाने के लिए संख्याबल नहीं है।
• पाकिस्तान चुनाव आयोग द्वारा घोषित किए गए नतीजों के अनुसार, पीटीआई को कुल 115 सीटें हासिल हुईं जो कि बहुमत से 12 सीटें कम हैं। वहीं पीएमएल-एन ने 64 जबकि पीपीपी ने 43 सीटें हासिल की।
• बता दें कि पाकिस्तान के निचले सदन में कुल सदस्यों की संख्या 342 हैं। इसमें 272 सदस्य सीधे चुनाव जीत कर आते हैं।
• कोई पार्टी तभी सरकार बना सकती है जबकि सदन में उसे कुल 172 सदस्यों का समर्थन हासिल हो।

मिस्र के boys' team title ने डब्ल्यूएसएफ-वर्ल्ड जूनियर स्क्वाश टीम चैंपियनशिप जीती

• मिस्र ने 29 जुलाई 2018 को चेन्नई में हुए डब्ल्यूएसएफ-वर्ल्ड जूनियर स्क्वाश टीम चैम्पियनशिप में इंग्लैंड को हराकर boy's title खिताब जीता।
• चेक गणराज्य और यूएसए तीसरे स्थान पर रहे और कांस्य पदक हासिल किया, जबकि मेजबान भारत ने कुल मिलाकर 11वां स्थान हासिल किया।

सौरभ वर्मा ने रूसी ओपन बैडमिंटन ट्रॉफी जीती

• पूर्व राष्ट्रीय चैंपियन सौरभ वर्मा ने 29 जुलाई 2018 को रूस ओपन टूर सुपर 100 बैडमिंटन चैंपियनशिप का खिताब जीत लिया।
• 25 वर्षीय सौरभ ने दुनिया के 119वें नंबर के जापानी खिलाड़ी कोकी वतानाबे के खिलाफ पहला गेम हारने के बाद 19-21, 21-12, 21-17 से जीत दर्ज की।
• मिश्रित युगल में हालांकि रोहन कपूर और कुहू गर्ग की दूसरी वरीयता प्राप्त भारतीय जोड़ी खिताब से चूक गई।
• रोहन-कुहू को फाइनल में रूस के व्लादीमीर इवानोव और कोरिया की मिन कियुंग किम के हाथों 19-21, 17-21 से शिकस्त का सामना करना पड़ा।

States agree to supply milk under Mid-Day Meal, Anganwadi schemes

• Farmers are in distress in key milk-producing states like Maharasthra because of fall in the procurement rate amid surplus milk production.
• Most states, including Rajasthan, have agreed to supply milk for two days a week through Mid-Day Meal and Anganwadi schemes in order to absorb surplus stock and ensure better prices to farmers.
• There were farmers’ protest in parts of Maharashtra.
• Currently, the country has a stock of 2.30 lakh tonnes SMP(skimmed Milk Powder) and 60,000-70,000 tonnes of white butter.
• Import of whey milk powder has been hiked to 40% from 30% and also incentives have been provided to boost export of dairy products.
• Though the per capita consumption in India, the world’s largest milk producer, is above the global average of 330 grams, there is a scope for increasing the intake level to ensure nutritional security
• As per the official data, milk production is estimated to have increased by 6.6% to 176.35 million tonnes during the last financial year.
• The government expects milk production to touch 254.5 million tonnes by 2021-22.

• What is Whey milk powder
• Whey is the liquid remaining after milk has been curdled and strained. It is a byproduct of the manufacture of cheese or casein and has several commercial uses.
• Sweet whey is a byproduct produced during the manufacture of rennet types of hard cheese, like Cheddar or Swiss cheese.

High Level Empowered Committee constituted to address issues of Stressed Thermal Power Projects

• The government constituted a high-level empowered committee headed by the cabinet secretary to address the issues faced by stressed thermal power projects.
• The panel will comprise officials from ministries of railways, finance, power and coal, and lenders having major exposure to the power sector.
• It would look to maximise the efficiency of investment including changes required to be made in the fuel allocation policy, regulatory framework, mechanisms to facilitate sale of power, ensure timely payments.

What the issue is all about :

• Power generation companies had challenged the Reserve Bank of India’s Feb. 12 circular that laid down stricter timelines for initiating insolvency proceedings.
• It also mandated that banks classify even a one-day delay in debt servicing as default.
• For accounts with an exposure of Rs 2,000 crore or more, banks will have to ensure that a resolution plan is in place within 180 days after a ‘default’.
• Private power producers feared that the RBI’s new regulations would push projects with a capacity of about 60,000-70,000 megawatts towards bankruptcy and sought more time

       Meghalaya Milk Mission in Shillong launched

• Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Radha Mohan Singh has announced a Rs 215-crore project through the National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC) for Meghalaya Milk Mission.
• It will be utilized for various training under dairy farm, chilling centre and purchase of cattle.
• The minister said it would facilitate in achieving the Centre’s goal of doubling farmer’s income by 2022 through promotion of milk business in the state.
• The project consists of 2,000 dairy farm units each with a provision for five cows, sheds, storage room, animal insurance, 79 bulk milk coolers of 500 litre capacity and 13 milk tankers of 3,000 litre capacity.
• The mission aims at plugging the demand-supply gap in the per capita milk availability, which is much lower than the Indian Council of Medical Research’s recommendation of consumption per person.
• There are cooperatives in only 97 villages out of the 6,449 villages of Meghalaya while there can be cooperative societies in 60 per cent of the total villages. .
• Governor of Meghalaya Ganga Prasad said the mission is a comprehensive one, with essential components that cover both induction of new cows and development of indigenous cattle by selective breeding.
• The Milk Mission will help in addressing the problem of unemployment in the state to a great extent and that it will facilitate self-employment.

• About National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC)

• It was established by an Act of Parliament in 1963 as a statutory Corporation under Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare.
• It was formed in 1963 with Headquarter in New Delhi and its Managing Director is Sundeep Kumar Nayak, IAS (2017-incumbent)

PM Modi launches projects worth ₹ 60,000 cr in Lucknow

• Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched various projects worth 60,000 crore rupees at the ground-breaking ceremony in Uttar Pradesh capital Lucknow.
• The ceremony was held to implement 81 of over 1,000 MoUs signed at the Uttar Pradesh Investors' Summit organised earlier in 2018.
• UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said, the state is now among Top 5 in Ease Of Doing Business.
• Mr Modi had attended the concluding session of the two-day ‘Transforming Urban Landscape’ convention.
• The event marked the third anniversary of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban); the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation of Urban Transfornation (AMRUT); and the Smart Cities Mission.
• Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) is an initiative by Government of India in which affordable housing will be provided to the urban poor with a target of building 20 million affordable houses by 31 March 2022
• It has two components: Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) (PMAY-U) for the urban poor and Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana (Gramin) (PMAY-G and also PMAY-R) for the rural poor

International Tiger Day: July 29

• Global Tiger Day, often called International Tiger Day, is an annual celebration to raise awareness for tiger conservation, held annually on 29 July.
• It was created in 2010 at the Saint Petersburg Tiger Summit.
• The goal of the day is to promote a global system for protecting the natural habitats of tigers and to raise public awareness and support for tiger conservation issues.
• In 2010, the 13 countries where wild tigers still roam, came together to commit to Tx2 – the global goal to double the number of wild tigers by the next Chinese Year of the Tiger in 2022.

Imran Khan to be sworn-in as Prime Minister of Pakistan

• Imran Khan will be sworn in as Pakistan’s new Prime Minister before the country’s independence day on August 14.
• Though the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) has emerged as the single largest party in the National Assembly after the July 25 elections, the party is still short of numbers to form its government on its own.
• According to the complete preliminary results announced by the Election Commission of Pakistan, the PTI has obtained 115 general seats — 12 short of a simple majority — while the PML-N and PPP have won 64 and 43 seats, respectively.
• Pakistan’s National Assembly — the lower house of Parliament — comprises a total of 342 members, of which 272 are directly elected. A party can only form the government if it manages to secure 172 seats in total.

Tiger population in Mudumalai Tiger reserve doubles to 60 from 30

• In Tamil Nadu, the tiger population in the reputed Mudumalai Tiger reserve has doubled to 60 from 30, due to intensive conservation efforts.
• Awareness programmes regarding the importance of preserving the tiger population in the country, were held in various schools.
• Forest officials and nature enthusiasts, in and around the Annamalai, Mudumalai and Sathyamangalam tiger reserves in the state are also engaged in a door to door awarneness programme for tiger conservation.

Bajrang, Pinki win gold at Yasar Dogu International in Istanbul

• Bajrang Punia won his second consecutive international gold while Sandeep Tomar had to be content with a silver medal at the Yasar Dogu International.
• Indian wrestlers returned with 10 medals, including seven by women, from the ranking event in Istanbul, Turkey.
• In the women’s competition, Pinki was the lone gold medallist in the 55kg category with her 6-3 win over Ukraine’s Olga Shnaider in the final
• But Olympic bronze medallist Sakshi Malik endured a disappointing result as she failed to reach the medal round in the 62kg category.
• CWG champion Bajrang, who won a gold at the Tbilisi Grand Prix in Gerogia early this month, did not have to break a sweat as his gold medal opponent Andriy Kvyatkovskyy from Ukraine withdrew from the 70kg final due to an injury.
• Yaşar Doğu (1913 – 8 January 1961), was a renowned Turkish World and Olympic champion sports wrestler in Greco-Roman and Freestyle.

Baker breaks 100m backstroke world record

• Kathleen Baker sliced more than half a second off her personal best to win the women's 100m backstroke at the US swimming championships in a world record of 58.00sec.
• Baker had been gunning for the Kylie Masse's world record of 58.10 ever since she finished runner-up to the Canadian at the World Championships in Budapest last year.
• This was the first world record of the five-day championships, which serve as a qualifier for both the Pan Pacific Championships in Tokyo and the World Championships in South Korea next year.

Egypt wins boy's title at WSF-World Junior Squash team championship

• Czech Republic and USA finished third and secured the bronze medal.
• Host India finished 11th overall.
• Egypt’s domination in the world junior squash championships.
• In the final, it inflicted a 2-0 defeat over England to claim its sixth boys' team title.
• The World Junior Squash championships are the official junior tournament in the game of squash conducted by the World Squash Federation (WSF).[1] Entry is open to individuals aged 19 and below

Sourabh Verma lifts Russian Open Badminton trophy

• Ace Indian shuttler Sourabh Verma today lifted the Russian Open Badminton trophy at Vladivostok.
• In the title clash, Sourabh came back from a game behind to beat Japan's Koki Watanabe, 18-21, 21-12, 21-17, and win his first title of the season.
• Sourabh had won the Chinese Taipei Masters in 2016, and finished runners-up at Bitburger Open the same year.
• Sourabh Verma was the Indian National Badminton Champion in the senior singles category in 2011. In 2011, Sourabh Verma won his first international title by winning the Bahrain International Challenge.

मध्यान्ह भोजन, आंगणवाडी योजनेतून दूध देण्यास राज्यांची सहमती

• शेतकऱ्यांना चांगला भाव मिळवून देण्यासाठी बहुतांश राज्यांनी मध्यान्ह भोजन, आंगणवाडी योजनेतून मुलांना दूध देण्यास सहमती दर्शवलेली आहे. योजनेनुसार आठवड्यातून दोन दिवस मुलांना दूध दिले जाईल.
• अधिकृत आकडेवारीनुसार गेल्या आर्थिक वर्षात दुधाचे उत्पादन 6.6% ने वाढून 176.35 दशलक्ष टन झाले आहे. 2021-22 सालापर्यंत हे प्रमाण 254.5 दशलक्ष टनपर्यंत पोहचण्याचे अपेक्षित आहे.
• भारतात ‘मध्यान्ह भोजन’ (mid-day meal) योजना 1995 साली राष्ट्रीय पातळीवर सुरू करण्यात आली. शाळेतील मुलांची गळती रोखणे आणि मुलांना पोषक अन्न देण्यासाठी ही योजना सुरू आहे.

बुडीत औष्णिक वीजनिर्मिती प्रकल्पाचा मुद्दा हाताळण्यासाठी उच्चस्तरीय सशक्त समिती नेमण्याचा निर्णय

• बुडीत औष्णिक वीजनिर्मिती प्रकल्पाच्या संपदेचा मुद्दा हाताळण्यासाठी कॅबिनेट सचिव यांच्या नेतृत्वाखाली उच्चस्तरीय सशक्त समिती नेमण्याचा निर्णय भारत सरकारने घेतला आहे.
• या चिंतेचे निराकरण करण्यासाठी आणि अशा संपदेच्या पुनरुज्जीविकरणासाठी समितीत रेल्वे मंत्रालय, वित्त मंत्रालय, ऊर्जा मंत्रालय, कोळसा मंत्रालय व ऊर्जानिर्मिती क्षेत्रातले प्रमुख कर्जदाते यांचा समावेश असेल.

मुडुमलाई व्याघ्र प्रकल्पात वाघांची संख्या दुप्पट झाली

• तामिळनाडूमधील मुडुमलाई व्याघ्र प्रकल्पात वाघांची संख्या 30 वरून 60 पर्यंत पोहचलेली आहे.
• भारतात दर चार वर्षांनी वाघांची संख्या ठरविण्याकरिता गणना केली जाते. 2006, 2010 आणि 2014 साली झालेल्या सर्वेक्षणात अंदाजानुसार अनुक्रमे 1411, 1706 आणि 2226 वाघ असल्याचे दिसून आले आहे.

• दरवर्षी 29 जुलै रोजी ‘आंतरराष्ट्रीय व्याघ्र दिन’ पाळला जातो. यानिमित्ताने व्याघ्र संवर्धनाविषयी जनजागृती करण्यासाठी जगभरात अनेक उपक्रम राबवले जातात.
• 2009 साली आंतरराष्ट्रीय व्याघ्र दिनाची स्थापना करण्यात आली. 2022 सालापर्यंत जगात वाघांची संख्या दुप्पट करण्याची वचनबद्धता 13 देशांनी या स्थापना वर्षात दर्शवली. 2014 साली झालेल्या सर्वेक्षणात भारतात वाघांची संख्या 2,226 इतकी होती, जी 2010 साली 1,706 इतकी होती.

टर्कीमधील यासर डोगु आंतरराष्ट्रीय कुस्ती स्पर्धेत बजरंग पुनिया व पिंकी यांना सुवर्णपदके

• टर्कीमधील इस्तंबुल येथे झालेल्या यासर डोगु आंतरराष्ट्रीय कुस्ती स्पर्धेत भारताच्या बजरंग पुनिया व पिंकी यांनी सुवर्णपदके पटकावले.
• महिलांच्या 55 किलो गटात पिंकीने युपेनच्या ओल्गा श्नायडरचा पराभव करत तर पुरुषांच्या 70 किलो गटात बजरंग पुनियाने सुवर्णपदक जिंकले. शिवाय, 61 किलो गटात संदीप तोमरने इराणच्या मोहम्मद बाघेर याखकेशीकडून पराभव पत्करत रौप्यपदक जिंकले.

बेकरने 100 मीटर बॅकस्ट्रोक जागतिक विक्रम मोडला

• कॅलिफोर्नियात सुरू असलेल्या अमेरिकन ओपन जलतरण स्पर्धेत अमेरिकेची महिला जलतरणपटू कॅथेलिन बेकर हिने 100 मीटर अंतराच्या बॅकस्ट्रोक प्रकारात नवा विश्वविक्रम नोंदविला.
• कॅथेलिन बेकरने या क्रिडाप्रकारात  58.00 सेकंदाचा अवधी घेत यापूर्वी कॅनडाच्या केली मॅसीने नोंदविलेला 58.10 सेकंदाचा विश्वविक्रम मोडला.

WSF-जागतिक कनिष्ठ स्क्वॉश स्पर्धेत इजिप्तने मुलांच्या गटात जेतेपद जिंकले

• चेन्नईत खेळल्या गेलेल्या ‘WSF-जागतिक कनिष्ठ स्क्वॉश अजिंक्यपद 2018’ स्पर्धेत इजिप्तने मुलांच्या गटात जेतेपद (boy's title) पटकावले आहे.
• स्पर्धेच्या अंतिम फेरीत इजिप्तने इंग्लंडला 2-0 ने पराभूत केले. इजिप्तच्या मारवन तरेकने इंग्लंडच्या निक वॉलचा तर ओमर एल तोर्कीने सॅम टॉडचा पराभव केला. या प्रकारचे द्वितीय आणि तृतीय जेतेपद अनुक्रमे झेक प्रजासत्ताक आणि अमेरिकेने मिळविले. स्पर्धेत भारत 11 व्या स्थानी पोहोचला.
• जागतिक स्क्वॉश महासंघ (WSF) हे स्क्वॉश क्रिडाप्रकाराचे आंतरराष्ट्रीय मंडळ आहे. संस्थापक बिली जीन किंग यांनी सन 1967 मध्ये WSFची स्थापना केली. याचे मुख्यालय हेस्टिंग्ज (ब्रिटन) येथे आहे.

सौरभ वर्माकडे रशियन ओपन बॅडमिंटन स्पर्धेचे जेतेपद

• मॉस्कोत खेळल्या गेलेल्या ‘रशियन ओपन 2018’ या बॅडमिंटन स्पर्धेत भारताचा युवा बॅडमिंटनपटू सौरभ वर्माने पुरुष एकेरीचे जेतेपद पटकावले आहे.
• या स्पर्धेच्या अंतिम लढतीत सौरभ वर्माने जपानच्या कोको वाटांबे याचा पराभव केला. रशियन ओपन स्पर्धा जिंकणारा सौरभ पहिलाच भारतीय खेळाडू ठरला आहे.
• स्पर्धेच्या मिश्र दुहेरीत कुहु गर्ग व रोहन कपूर ही भारतीय जोडी उपजेता ठरली. या जोडीचा रशियाचा ब्लादमिर इवानोव्ह व कोरियाचा मिन कियुंग या जोडीकडून पराभव झाला.

शिलाँगमध्ये ‘मेघालय दुग्ध मोहिमे’चा शुभारंभ

• 29 जुलै 2018 रोजी शिलाँगमध्ये केंद्रीय कृषी व शेतकरी कल्याण मंत्री राधा मोहन सिंग यांच्या हस्ते ‘मेघालय दुग्ध मोहिमे’चा (Meghalaya Milk Mission) शुभारंभ करण्यात आला आहे.
• ही मोहीम चालविण्यासाठी राष्ट्रीय सहकारी विकास महामंडळ (NCDC) याच्या माध्यमातून 215 कोटी रुपये एवढा निधी मंजूर करण्यात आला आहे. ही रक्कम दुग्धशाळा, शीतकरण केंद्र आणि दुध देणार्‍या प्राण्यांची खरेदी याबाबत प्रशिक्षण दिले जाईल.

उत्तरप्रदेशात 60000 कोटी रुपयांपेक्षा जास्त गुंतवणुकीच्या 81 प्रकल्पांचा शुभारंभ

• उत्तरप्रदेशातल्या 81 प्रकल्पांचे भूमीपूजन लखनऊमध्ये पंतप्रधान नरेंद्र मोदी यांच्या हस्ते करण्यात आले आहे. 60000 कोटी रुपयांपेक्षा जास्त गुंतवणुकीचे हे प्रकल्प आहेत.
• डिजिटल इंडिया, मेक इन इंडिया या सारख्या उपक्रमांना, या प्रकल्पांमुळे मोठी चालना मिळणार. भारत हा जगातला मोबाईल फोनची निर्मिती करणारा दुसरा मोठा देश आहे, तर या उत्पादन क्रांतीमधे उत्तरप्रदेश अग्रस्थानी आहे.

इम्रान खान: पाकिस्तानचे नवे पंतप्रधान

• पाकिस्तानचे माजी क्रिकेटपटू आणि कर्णधार आता राजकीय नेता इम्रान खान पाकिस्तानचे पंतप्रधान म्हणून 14 ऑगस्टच्या आधी शपथ घेणार आहेत.
• स्वतंत्र पाकिस्तानात झालेल्या दुसर्‍या लोकशाही निवडणुकीत इम्रान खान यांच्या तहरीक-ए-इन्साफ पक्षाने सर्वाधिक जागा जिंकल्या आहेत. पहिल्यांदाच हा पक्ष पाकिस्तानमध्ये सत्ता स्थापन करणार.
• पाकिस्तान हा दक्षिण आशियामधील एक देश आहे. पाकिस्तान हे केंद्रीय घटनात्मक प्रजासत्ताक असून देशात चार सुभे (परगणा) आणि चार केंद्रशासित प्रदेश आहेत. इस्लामाबाद ही पाकिस्तानची राजधानी आहे. पाकिस्तानी रुपया हे राष्ट्रीय चलन आहे. हा देश इस्लामिक व्यवस्थापन संघटनेचे (सध्याची इस्लामिक सहयोग संघटना/OIC) जनक राष्ट्र आहे.
